It sounds like you guys should frame-war over a simple track/mission until you have the optimal racing lines with quick dashing down pat. The best proof of optimality is a time the other person can't beat, after all!

I guess I should say, content that affects how you interact with the game. So purely visual/audio changes not counting. But if it gets harder, the TAS should stop when the difficulty will never increase again.

I'm more interested in the TAS stopping when there is no new content (difficulty stops increasing). e.g. if there was a Pac-Man [Arcade] TAS, I would want it to stop at the highest difficulty level rather than at the kill screen.

There are 2^64 (18,446,744,073,709,551,616) possibilities to try, and we have to try them all until one of them produces valid-looking machine code.
When do you think you will finish? If you can test 2^32 possibilities per second, it will take you over a century to finish.

Ridiculous combat and that wrong warp glitch to get to the boss early. I love it!

If you got that from my YT comment then that was a wild guess. I have no idea how much I saved by discovering the glitch.
You could quote the submission text, then edit it so it looks like what you'd want, then have an editor edit it in.

How to assume Total Control of Symphony of the Night: http://castlevania.msnboard.net/t634-true-total-control-taken-on-psx#8372 Apparently this method will work in Saturn SotN too, so I look forward to the first total control TAS on a Saturn console.

If there's no glitch or other gameplay (e.g. not including text/cutscene changes) difference that makes J faster than U, use U as per the site's guidelines.

There's no precedent for a TAS on tasvideos being accepted that uses TAS tools built into the game, rather than provided by a separate emulator (or Hourglass). For example, the answer to 'Can a Doom TAS using the in-game demo replay feature be submitted here' has always been 'no'.

IMO the first TAS for the site should be whichever category requires the least amount of effort, but I'm pragmatic like that ;)

Have you tried any 'emulator only' glitches on CEN64 yet? Or is CEN64 not far along enough yet to run Banjo Kazooie?

I'd compare it to the sprite swap glitch of SMW, myself, where you can get the goal tape or a chuck on Yoshi's tongue because it is in the same slot Yoshi was trying to eat.

It might be easier to make a LUA script showing the locations of the Mario cart and Luigi cart by drawing rectangles on screen.

Bizhawk uses for its SNES core lsnes, which is extremely CPU intensive. You can use snes9x 1.5x instead if your computer is too weak. Submissions on this emulator are accepted.

In that case, will you be timing out any of the stage 5 boss phases in hard, 2 player? EDIT: And what is the criteria for getting the maximum amount of chains at the end of stage 3? You seem to take it rather leisurely.

There is a very large overlap between TASers and speedrunners. To me, it would be like saying someone who composes music in a DAW but can't play a song on an instrument live is not a musician. To me they still are, just a different kind.

I just realized that the stage 3 boss with two players must be leeched for maximum score. I kinda don't like that :/
I'm OK with it as long as it's the only boss you have to time out for maximum score. Score is score, right?
I think Tageri is generally pushed out to the last second for max score, but on hard it's a sick watch.
I've got no complaints then! That boss is mad hard.
