I will start doing TASes of individual levels and save the inputs to add in later if bizhawk is ever fixed.
Please check that you can actually do this (that it will not desync due to different RNG/etc).

Does it need to be local multiplayer, netplay multiplayer or either is OK? Twinkle Star Sprites [Arcade] is a split-screen competitive shmup that can be played local multiplayer or (I think using Mame and GGPO?) netplay. Catherine [PS3, X360] is a puzzle game with a competitive two player mode.

If you want people to look over your run, you can try and get into contact with mecharichter (he's done speedruns/playaround in this game before) or of course TJazZ himself.

So does this means that we get to see this freaking awesome trick in a RTA runs maybe?
It's already being used in RTA runs of All Dungeons. Follow http://twitch.tv/zfg1 http://twitch.tv/cosmowright and http://www.twitch.tv/moltov

It's not a deal breaker, no, but when the next TAS is made the constant scrolling should be limited only to the first part of the TAS (until after landing the rocket) IMO

I'm pretty sure you can't modify ROM, only RAM...
Try it yourself sometime. It modifies itself permanently, even if you close and re-open MAME.

Wow, this went by fast! I'll have to watch it again a few times to figure out what's going on, lol

When this gets accepted, I would like to request an encode which removes the black middle bar. This is by the way the first in my opinion DS game which takes advantage in a logic and sensible way both screens. Clear yes vote and let us hope you will pick another more challenging Metroid game :)
Imo the black bar should be exactly as wide 'as the game thinks it is', otherwise it feels wrong.

This is one of those games that everyone is always like 'This should get a TAS' but then someone else says 'The RTA speedrun is basically what the TAS would look like, so there's no point.' Interesting to see we've been proven wrong!

I don't appreciate the spamming of the jellybeans scrolling. It obfuscates what's going on for in an uninteresting reason (like seeing a character spaz around the screen to pass time is entertaining, making a bunch of text change rapidly doesn't show off anything cool about the game. It would be like if a Twilight Princess TAS toggled the map on and off CONSTANTLY because it doesn't cost any time to do it) Faster is faster, though! I hope for the final super-optimized run you refrain from doing this is all :)

Self-modifying games. Besides things like saving to memory cards or saving to an internal storage, or Windows games modifying files/save data in their own directory, some arcade-games are actually self-modifying - for example, the first time you open Raiden Fighters Jet in MAME, it shows a 999 second countdown while it performs some operation - and when it finishes, every time you open the game again, even if you completely close and re-open MAME, it never happens again, because the ROM itself has been edited. This is an extreme example, but demonstrates the point.

http://www.twitch.tv/sockfolder/c/5125909 Hack n' Slash is a game based around editing the game's code. It's not a trick, you're really changing the LUA the game runs on (and recompiles/decompiles dynamically during run time). Here is a speedrun of the game by sockfolder in 7 minutes. As soon as he gets the item that lets you edit code (Bombs) he sets up a wrong warp to the end of the game. I don't know if this game runs in hourglass or not, but it doesn't need mouse to play.

So that includes Swordless? What are the two routes that you're comparing?
You have to be swordless to do Blank A. So the routes are: Sword, no bombchus (henceforth any% with sword) Swordless, no bombchus (henceforth any% swordless) Swordless, bombchus (henceforth any% bombchus) any% swordless is predicted to be a bit faster than any% with sword. any% bombchus is predicted to be a bit slower than both.

So here's an idea no one has brought up yet. What about SMW again, but instead of ACE, just doing a regular glitchfest playaround? There's an endless stream of bizarre glitches to show off in this game, so it could be made arbitrarily long and yet remain entertaining. You would need to have someone qualified in the area volunteer, of course, but all you have to do is ask.

Out of curiosity, is there any '100%' category in this game?

Just wondering: Why isn't this considered corrupting memory? Is it because it only accesses invalid data or something?
This is my understanding, yes. It's only corruption if you actually do out of bounds writes.

You're allowed to use J if J has faster glitches.
