It's not as optimal as it could be though, my run beats his to the koopa shell by 2 frames and starts the celebration 8 frames earlier according to my Vegas comparison. Of course, the death should save overall in a full run, but as a single star, it's not quite WR
DSG makes "single star timing" pretty weird. This is why I always thought time should end on first black frame instead of star dancing. Ending time on star dancing for the DSG strat makes no sense lol

sup fam 3 videos that show a potential strat of chomp star (watch in order or you won't understand): Link to video Link to video Link to video However, I think I came down to the conclusion that speed is reason I can't get it. More specifically, without teleporting to get fuse only, I think all the speed you can get is -16 + state 5 bob-omb momentum. Instead, with fuse only, you can sideflip, which makes you go much faster. EDIT: Just realized Really_Tall already linked this. lol srry EDIT2: And I forgot to add, I haven't actually tested with -16 speed(which is max negative speed you can achieve by decelerating) + bob-omb, but I'll do it pretty soon

Mugg, you're a much smarter guy than that. In one way or another, people always get out of this situation. MOD EDIT: this is the only halfway decent part of that post

Nonono I get you, but I just don't give a fuck. I will keep expressing my opinion until one of us will drop dead. Original Post: "You've got your short sad life left That's what I'm counting on I'll let you get right to it Now I only want you gone Goodbye my only friend Oh, did you think I meant you? That would be funny if it weren't so sad Well you have been replaced I don't need anyone now When I delete you maybe I'll stop feeling so bad For real though. Mugg, you're a much smarter guy than that. In one way or another, people always get out of this situation. Stop whining like a little bitch over this bullshit lel, there are people stuck in much worse situations"

Third case done!
This TAS is like crippled snail movement. It is click agonizingly slowly through dialogue. Are you entertained by videos of people slowly reading through books? Face it, this game sucks for TAS, the vault not even take, regardless of what the player does.
I suggest my future movie mainly to people who never played the game, and wanted to check the game out without playing, so it's not that the game sucks for TAS. It's mainly like reading a book, yes, but I also try to put some stuff in there whenever I can.

So how was it like in other emulators? It simply didn’t drop inputs? I’ve never experienced such behaviour with any other game ever, and the fact that the in-game timer is also affected by the “input drops” is extra weird.
That probably means the emulator is extra fucked

If you're going through with this.. do the fifth case. It's by far the most interesting one, as in 'do input that isn't skipping dialogue'.

You sure it can be slower?
Fairly sure, but I could be wrong. Either way, I prefer using touch screen because it's always frame perfect if you input 4 frames before the triangle appears, which some rare expections here and there where you have to necessarily use A (I think it's because of fast text, I had to necessarily press A 3 times, not including cross-examination, and they all are during fast text. Most of the fast texts didn't need A though...!) (You can notice it's not frame perfect because the rectangle doesn't become yellow the frame after the triangle appears, but 2f later)

Well, look at what we got here. Just found a normal text box where you loose 1f if you use touch screen. Maybe that's because the characters come out fast (1f per char)

Buttons will always be faster or at worst tie with touch screen. It all depends on how the game recognizes touch screen input– if on touch, it ties, if on leaving touch, it can lose 1 frame compared to buttons.
Nono, it recognizes when you touch, not when you leave. A is either slower or tied during normal text, and faster for every text box during cross-examinations, except the first one. That's pretty... weird

I may be mixing up old information with Ghost Trick (& Another Code) information so excuse me if I'm completely wrong now. A button was 1 frame slower than touch screening for me when going through the game.
Lol sorry, you're actually half right, A can be both tied or 1f slower. That's why I prefer to use touch screen anyway EDIT: wtf, A is faster when the first witness in the game says: "I thought he must be in a hurry because he left the door half-open behind him." I wonder if that can only happen during depositions S: EDIT2: It seems that during cross-examinations pressing A 3f before triangle to scroll is faster!

Shesus, that's long. Well, you're doing the right input which is to use A to go through the dialogue and pen when you have to definitely use it. How important was the B button in this game anyways?
No it's not, you can use touch screen for dialog as well and it's tied. Actually, touch screen has an easier point of reference: you simply input 4 frames before the triangle appears. I think A button is 2-3 before triangle depending on lag, or something like that.

I don't get it lol, makes no sense to me. Why do you think that coins might affect Mario's position?

Why didn't you warp on the flowers instead of going for the analog tilting strat on the slope w/ the bomb? If you watch the 20 star run you can notice they do the flowers strat. I can easily tell it's faster thanks to the music. You probably are new to TASing SM64, but keep in mind that it's (almost) always better to aim for a straight line. Tilt the analog stick straight towards Mario is facing during a DR if you want to not loose speed but gain.
