If I remember correctly, A presses are counted as 0.5 if you enter the stage with the A button already held down. So though you are technically not pressing A in the stage itself, holding it will have an effect on the game and it is therefore counted as 0.5.
That is, if I remember it right.
Considering the horrible audio this "game" has, I strongly suggest that this game should not be TASed in favor of many other more suitable games.
I highly doubt a TAS would look good anyway. Plus it wouldn't be very enjoyable to watch, that's why Vinny made a highlight video in the first place so you wouldn't have to sit through 4 hours of this abomination.
According to the recent Dolphin update write-up over last month, AV-sync has been modified and brought into the Master Build of Dolphin. Perhaps you can try using that instead? Here's the whole article with all information you need: https://dolphin-emu.org/blog/2014/10/31/dolphin-progress-report-october-2014/
I dunno Patashu, it's pretty cool at first, but it's a lot of the exact same thing. I don't think it will be very interesting for all of the 25-30 minutes. I think other games should take priority over this.
Anyway, I watched most of the video in double speed and still found it a bit too long. Your highlight summary makes it sound better than the video really is.
Game has been TASed before. A video was uploaded onto Nicovideo. There is a YouTube version though:

Should make for a good comparison at least. And I'm sure it can be improved. The Junkman fight for example looks pretty sloppy.
Amazy Dayzees do not appear in every encounter. They only appear at two points in the game. One is randomly between floors 91-99 in the Pit of 100 trials, the other is the forest in Chapter 4. So you could only manipulate encountering them at that part more often, not manipulate them in every fight.
The fights in Chapter 4 are always 2 Crazy Dayzees and 1 Amazy Dayzee.
Either one or two Amazy Dayzees can be found in the Pit of 100 trials, but considering the amount of time it takes to get that deep it is probably not worth doing.
It takes very long to level up, but I believe you still get something like 2 star points for each killed Amazy Dayzee at level 98. But I am not sure on this.
To be honest, I don't think reaching maximum level should be a part of a 100% run. Just get all the badges in the game at least once and complete all the requests in the Trouble Center.
To be honest, this isn't the most fun game to watch 100%. Having to get all the recipes or leveling up just gets boring. But that's my take on it.
As far as I can remember, you cannot skip cutscenes the first time playing. I don't even know if they can be skipped in a NG+ since I never played the game twice.
Only use I know of is being able to heal yourself at any time by buying a special potion from Tingle. This can be used to safely get out of Zombie Hover. However, I do not know how useful that would be now that Dry Storage has been found.
don't you think it would be easier to use VBA as the GBA? Would it be awesome if you could use that for 4-swords adventures?
But they did at this point, but it wasn't working very well. The GBA core is still pretty young, but proves to be working far more effectively than linking up to VBA. I don't know why. In some months we may be able to finally get Four Swords Adventures TASed, but that may take a while. Just hold your horses till then.
Considering Tingle Tuner support is well on its way, will you wait until the emulator can support it fully? Or will you try to complete a TAS without the Tingle Tuner first?
Any more details on this? Who is working on this and what is the progress?
Also not too sure where the tuner would be used at this point. A lot of uses were replaced by storage. Are there even still good ones that warrent the time lost calling tingle?
It was mentioned on Dolphin's progress report from May this year accompanied by a video.

It apparently uses a built-in GBA core, instead of relying on VBA. I do not know of the progress made since then, but so far it's looking pretty good.

What is the current proposed route for this game? Why do we need to rescue Tetra before going to Northern Fairy Island to upgrade the wallet? Does the game soft-lock somewhere if we don't?
I didn't feel like using the J version, because I didn't want to have to buy and then dump the whole file. I remember buying a U(not the Wii U) version years ago when Wii hacks were first made and made codes using a USB Gecko. But that's all in the past. And I prefer English text anyway, I personally think that if I used Japanese text, no one would be able to read it(other than our Japanese folks of course). I can always buy a Japanese copy, But that's gonna take days! I know we can probably remember text, but what's the fun in that? :P
Well, the text isn't exactly important in a TAS. People are not going to watch it as a let's play, so to speak.
You could always try and procure a J version later, but this is not required.
Now, I don't know when the route changed actually or if it did. Wasn't the original route that after getting the Wind Waker you'd go to Northern Fairy Island, get the wallet upgrade and then go in the submarine to get caught and thrown into Forsaken Fortress? Why did you go back to Outset?
How did you get the yellow detergent to not be on a timer? You just touched it and could fly for the rest of the whole stage. How did that work? I don't remember seeing it before.
Sorry to tell you that guys, but TAS is definetely stopped and gaven up. Yes, no one wants to do it with me so fuck. Sad, I had WR on 1-1...
Keep the .DTM around at least for later. It could always prove useful.
And maybe you shouldn't take on this many projects at once. Just focus on one or two, otherwise you might burn yourself out.
I agree with Dyshonest. Entertainment is priority one, so the many minutes of rupee collecting necessary to pay for all the upgrades is too insane. Add to that fact that you have to wait between throws and can only pay the Great Fairy 50 rupees at a time (25 at first) and I think we will all come to the conclusion that it is not entertaining enough to be worth doing.
Also Toothache, even though it is obvious, but the pieces of heart would also count towards 100%. You forgot to mention them in the list.
Up to the Tile Room again, with the new route I'm testing: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1258969785/EasternFirstWIP.smv
This time, thankfully, some people at #alttp have figured out how this place works. So it should be easier to do now and finally be able to make some actual progress!
I was absolutely amazed the whole time. How did you people even find all these glitches?
I don't see the point in easiest difficulty TASes. Aren't TASes supposed to show super-human skill? Beating the game on the hardest difficulties and making it look really easy? Playing on easy mode just seems counter-productive to that.

Sorry the boss is boring right now. I'll be sprucing him up in my cleanup run of the whole TAS! He's not like the first two Tusks where getting all the pineapples in the heart causes him to blow up immediately. For some reason you have to wait for the normal timer on them to expire. It sucks.
Honestly, I still found the boss quite entertaining. Not as fun as the first two versions, but definitely not boring.
The run was really amazing, as always. Thank you for the time you spent making it. Good luck with the rest of the game!
