For me personally, this version sounds more chill and relaxing, compared to the overly energetic feel of the SNES version. The SNES instruments are really grating too. The sound effects on Genesis are not bad honestly; There are definitely worse on the system. Plus I just really hate his chipmunk voice on SNES. This version just sounds more fitting overall. By the way, I'm not sure why you are mentioning MIDI. MIDI is an interface, not a type of sound. The Genesis uses FM synthesis.

I highly disagree about the sound. The Genesis version here sounds far more pleasing than the obnoxious sounding SNES version for this particular game. Plus, the Charlie Brown-esque voice of Pacman in this one sounds more fitting than the chipmunk-esque voice on SNES.

Thanks for the rundown. A 'spite emulator' you say, lol. That's really interesting though. Speaking of medusa, I'm looking forward to see what becomes of that myself. Out of the 3, which one do you think has the most potential for an addition to Bizhawk? My guess is probably medusa, but some time down the road.

I came across this DS emulator. http://melonds.kuribo64.net/ Seems to be a couple years in development now, so it's still fairly new, but seems to have come a ways in development since then. It looks quite promising, but I haven't seen any discussion about it. I'm not sure how it fairs currently compared to DeSmuME though.

As I've said in another thread fairly recently, if you're just looking to play games, it's worth trying Mednafen itself, because Bizhawk seems to run the Saturn core slower than normal. I tried Radiant Silvergun in Bizhawk with an fps between 40-60 or something like that iirc, while Mednafen itself gave me a solid 60.

This is very entertaining. It's really cool to see a proper TAS of this. The secret area was really interesting. Didn't know you could do it that way without taking a death, but I guess your invincibility period lasts long enough after all. Great job! Voted yes.

Not necessarily. Bizhawk derives its Saturn core from Mednafen, so I gave both a test just now to compare, using Radiant Silvergun. The game gives me around low 40fps to high 50fps in Bizhawk depending on what's going on, and Mednafen runs it fine at 60fps.

I imagine it's likely because it's not running at full speed like the other systems you mentioned. The Saturn has a notoriously complicated hardware architecture, so anything trying to emulate it with any sort of prioritisation for accuracy is certainly not going to run well unless you have good PC hardware.

Oh, I actually am using Mednafen Mode 4:3 AR (I forgot to mention that). I didn't really care personally about the resizing, but it is neat to see how developers used the resolution modes. I legitimately thought it was an issue though because I had no idea Bizhawk didn't increase the window past the maximum resolution of the monitor.

Just tried it without the Status bar. It fits. I deeply apologise. I guess I would have caught that sooner if I would ever change the window size more than 2x, but I honestly can't stand the look up upscaled pixels if it's done by too much :\ Seriously, I am sorry!

Oh well, then that makes sense. I didn't understand what zeromus meant with his wording. I figured it was like other emulators and just resized no matter what. I guess that was all pointless then.

So are you saying Bizhawk's window doesn't change sizes at all unless it's able to fit inside your resolution?

natt, I don't even know what you are speaking of. I said my Monitor is 1920x1080, that's all. This report has nothing to do with my monitor. You can see in those screenshots I posted this issue I am bringing up. Screens 1 and 2 are window sizes 1x and 2x, but Bizhawk's window is the same size in both, and scanline filter is erroneous in both, whereas screens 3 and 4 show off a screen which uses normal res mode and show up correctly. I don't care if you want to insult me, if that makes you happy, but are you really not seeing the issue here?

Um... Ok? Here is 4 screenshots of my entire desktop with Bizhawk in windowed mode. First 2 are PS1 bios screen, and I show window sizes 1x in the first and 2x in the second. No, they are 2x windows. Bizhawk is in windowed mode, and my monitor is 1920x1080, so it is plenty large enough. What makes you say that it is a lie?

Hello all. If you remember, I reported a problem with the Genesis core having an issue where Bizhawk wouldn't resize games which used interlaced mode properly. Well, it seems there is a similar issue with Playstation, in that games that use interlaced mode don't resize properly (the bios screen is a good example). Also, and I realise this is simply because the emulator isn't resizing, but due to this, the scanline filter in Bizhawk doesn't display correctly either. I wouldn't be surprised if Saturn has this issue also, but I think I can't test that until Bizhawk replaces the Saturn core. Thanks again all, for all your work on Bizhawk. Edit: Here is a couple of example screenshots, if it would help. https://imgur.com/a/Y2smc As you see, the second screenshot is correct, as the normal resolution modes are changing properly.

I have the most recent Yabause and have played a game on it with no problems. I can't say anything about TASing with it, but other than that, I have had no problem with it.

Thank you, zeromus for explaining that, and for your work. My current thoughts on the shaders are "maybe it's better to leave it be for now." I am still curious about Gen+GX though.

I have Retroarch with Gen+GX. It doesn't seem to let me rewind for some reason, but I assume I can save/load states with it. I don't have a Wii, so I can't test with that. Edit: Just tried loading state in Retroarch and it works. I saved/loaded during interlaced mode and it doesn't scramble the graphics like Bizhawk does.
