..Except I've been slacking lately and some things aren't up to date, and when I finally get round to updating them I forget what needs to be updated. SO if anyone sees something not up to date, rather than tell me on IRC or something if you could just send me a private message on the forum with the link to the update, what it includes etc. I'll happily add the update to emu.

Sounds like you have an outdated splitter. You need something to demux the audio and video from the mkv. I'm not sure what you have at the moment so I'm also unsure what to suggest. If I can get a syncing audio stream that doesn't require corrections I should be okay..

Right. Cel-textured encode (torrent) This encode uses HE-AACv2 for audio and chapters. This may cause some players to tell you the audio stream is mono and/or 22.5kHz. This is not the case, they are just misinformed. I had trouble finding the link to the texture pack (Djipi has 2 versions, one of which hasn't been released yet) so for now I'll just post what it's called: Djipi's Cel-Zelda Mod. Enjoy. Note: This will not be the version that's published along with the normal mkv. I still have alot of audio sync stuff to sort out (though it syncs fine in VLC on my end, it may deviate a bit slightly in other players) Edit: Some people are having problems with playing the mkv in VLC (hey it rhymes!). Apparently it dies somewhere around the Water Temple. I'm not sure what causes it, but I'm just giving you guys a heads up. It works fine in VLC for me but hey...

Is it the "hugging" when escaping the castle? that's been mentioned a few times on IRC.

You misunderstand me. I meant a single category that is discussed beforehand. OoT's "No Major Skips" category was discussed beforehand in the Ocarina of Time game thread. While I disagree on the name of it's category I consider it's rules to be good for such a game.

Nice write-up but I think the idea is bad. Enough as it is.
Agreed. The idea would be good except for the fact that using an "intended route" for many games is too restricting. I've always thought the best parts of many runs are neat tricks that allow you to skip things you wouldn't normally be able to do. What's fun and interesting in a game is a case by case basis, and shouldn't be lumped into one category, because it just won't work. I'm a firm believer of TASes showing the games' potential. This is why you might see me voting against a SSB speedrun, yet voting yes for an entertainment run. On the other hand you'll see me voting yes for a speed related Mario64 run, yet voting against an entertainment based one. Depending on the game, the potential can be almost fully expressed in one of the two. While there's a few neat tricks and glitches out there, I feel they're placed better either in the game's forum topic or on youtube, not tossed in the submission queue and definitely not published. Of course I'm aware there's exceptions to even this where a really fast run might not show everything yet a 100% run might show too much boring drudging along. In this case, I believe arbitrary categories exclusively set for the game are a benefit rather than a problem.

I remember playing this game. I also remember bits being a pain in the ass, but I don't remember if I ever finished it. Still, it'll be nice to see your progress. Good luck!

Nobody seems to, so I wonder; where do you think it should be placed? Where do you feel you would notice it most (without it becoming annoying)?

You know as well as I do that the Judges will probably never accept this. I'm not even sure they can. Submitting runs of popular games with different goals will only result in disappointment for those involved and more anger towards the Judges (which are just doing their job). Discussion is fine. Asking a Judge ahead of submission is fine. Clarifying things beforehand is fine. Blindly submitting random m64s/movie files will only result in bad things.

I seriously think this or something like it could/should be published. This had a lot of entertaining stuff that would never fit into a true speedrun (be it 0, 70, 120 or whatever star count).
What exactly are its goals?

3) Oh no! Now 4 of your friends want to download the same file at the same time as you! The seeder's max upload rate doesn't change, though. It's still 20kbps. That speed now has to be shared between 5 people! (Lets assume he's an equal opportunity sharer, and divides his upload speed evenly among downloaders, so that's 4kbps per person).
Unless you use initial/super seeding. Then the seed gives each person a different piece of the file, and lets it share it between them. Essentially, in the time it takes to share the whole file to one person, with superseeding the seeder has shared it to everyone he or she is connected to, sometimes resulting in around 40 or so people completing the file at once.

For those interested, the Celda capture is done, but requires heavy splicing. I'm waiting to talk to bkDJ about how to do this effectively. Edit1: Thanks to bkDJ, I've finished splicing and have begun the lengthy encoding process. Edit2: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=178550#178550

Another one of your fine trolling posts, but I shall answer since I'm sure people are asking the same things.

i don't like cel shade so much, it makes the graphics look worse than they already are IMO. i'd rather see it encoded with the hi-res pack, even though it's probably incomplete.
The most complete "normal" hi-res pack out there only has the kokiri forst done. Which is kinda lame. Celda has almost every texture complete.

yes, but i wonder how the real encoders like bisqwit and DesyncEd (or whatever his name was) can get the audio to sync.
I dislike your phrasing ("real encoders", what the hell?) But DeHackEd can't encode in anything other than glN64 (which kinda sucks for this game) and Glide64, which desyncs. I have not heard from Bisqwit, so I assume he's very busy lately. As for the other encoders (including myself) we all get the audio desync but bkDJ has kindly informed me how to fix it.

Not to sound mean, but what was the point to this avi? Was it intentional to make the graphics different?
The point of the teaser is to show what to expect from my AVI once it is finished. In this particular case, I am using a celshaded texture pack to replace those in-game. So yes, it was intentional. Trust me, it will look better at 640x480.

This is a "no major skips" run. Unfortunately our any% is so slow it's actually slower than this run :(

I'm a bit behind on duksandfish, but I'm trying things a little different. Here's a teaser of what I'm trying: http://www.filedropper.com/lozoot-tas-bloobiebla-celtest I'll probably do the whole thing at 640x480, since it looks a bit lame so small. I will of course be encoding a "normal" run too if and when it's accepted.

Hmm. I started off entering this run as a meh (which is my typical stance for OoT). I then moved swiftly to a no during all the Young Link stuff. Apart from it being largely unchanged from the old run, I think Upthorn summed up my feelings why:
(23:57:47) (Upthorn) Raaah hun bleep hun raah bleep hoow raaah bleep hoow bleep
The Adult Link part, however, was awesome. Over the course of it I went all the way from being terribly unentertained from laughing during some points which is kinda rare for me when watching a run. The exit from fire temple made me laugh the most :) So yeah, despite the annoying/boring start to the run I felt it really pulled through towards the end, which surprised me. Yes vote. For the people who are requesting an encode, I'll get back to you about that later today. I have some... ideas. Edit1: Also I'm kinda annoyed with seeing runs that don't have framebuffer effects enabled. This can easily be turned on with Rice and is already enabled with Glide64. This is the primary reason why this run desyncs for some people. Failing to render the framebuffer causes frame differences, making it impossible to sync with other plugins that render the framebuffer correctly. Please, for anyone who wants to TAS OoT, use a plugin that renders the game properly. Edit2: If you want to fix the pause bug (I mean REALLY fix it) with this version of mupen, the solution is to use one of 2 plugins; Napalm or Jabo 1.6. I'd go with Napalm personally, despite it's horrible instability initially. Fix for Napalm: Turn on "Read every frame (Slow!)" and "Get frame buffer info". Fix for Jabo 1.6: Turn on "Copy framebuffer to RDRAM" in Advanced tab. This is extremely slow (you won't get the game running realtime at high res) but it works flawlessly. Both of these will of course desync this run. Terrible shame, that.
