for those that hate the TAS input box, every TAS I've tried that uses it also syncs fine with Jabo's DirectInput.

Yeah, this worries me too. No desyncs yet for me.

Edit: after looking at the script again, I don't know where I got the idea of it being xvid. According to the mencoder documentation it is DivX indeed. -.- I'll recode it with the same settings using x264 and 3pass.
Remember: If you use bitrate, x264 compresses better so less bitrate should be used. If you use quantizer, DivX and x264 use different scales for quantizer so be careful (though you really shouldn't be using this anyway...) I estimate this game could get around about 2.25MB/minute with little noticeable quality loss.

No, he hates RapidShare, as do I. You are wrong to assume in this case that it's a personal vendetta.

Preliminary encode Again, any publisher may feel free to use anything from this to save encoding time or whatever.
Is this DIVX? If so why did you use it? If not, why did your encoding tool use a very ambiguous FOURCC?

Chapters in the Ecco Tides of Time run and the MKV worked just fine under Quicktime on OS 10.5. No sound bugs at all. I don't know if Quicktime is able to read these on its own, or if this is due to having Perian Installed.
Ecco: Tides of Time didn't use subchapters so I'll need more testing with someone with a Mac. Still, It's nice to know that at least basic chapters are supported :)

Obviously a big YES vote from me. The game was anihilated! The times are ridiculously low for all stages and the glitches used are really cool!
What about the other 10 minutes that you can't have possibly watched without turbo?

I have major trouble with torrents. I can download a file from Megaupload or Rapidshare at about 1.3 Mbs a second. I would think Megaupload is a better choice. I can live with the download limits. Also, the download limits are only for 24 hours after downloading the last file.
We'd have to re-upload every movie on the site every month. I don't think that's practical.

I second that suggestion.
I suggest that suggestion be put into a new thread for suggesting changes.

Well I use the features provided by Vista, so I guess I'm a completely different case.

A-ha! I can see your problem right there! (sorry, I had to)
Please don't say that. I'm already mad enough I was forced to use Vista. It doesn't feel good when people constantly remind me that it sucks.
I use Vista on my main PC. I have encountered less problems than I had with XP, and considerably less than I've had with any Linux distro. Vista 'sucks' because you're told to hate it.

Because it's a major release of major software by a major company?

No. You own the rights to everything. It says that at the start. What this means is they can't get shafted if you post something and they use it later to promote "Services", whatever they are.

Regarding use of "incredible", etc: What's wrong with people being suprised when a previous run unlikely to be made faster is in fact submitted and published?

Even though you'll be overwriting your old movie when you open it for writing, it doesn't matter, because when you open that savestate it'll all be awesome again.

... You didn't watch Josh the FunkDOC's time-attack movie of Vice - Project Doom, have you? What I would have to do is figure out the hotkey to shift from play mode into record mode before I cause any more scenes. Since the movie was damaged, I discarded it, and all of the saved states.
1. I haven't watched every run on the site. 2. You don't need a hotkey. When you open your old movie, THEN load a savestate, the movie is magically restored to where you were when you were at that savestate point. ALL OF YOUR MOVIE DATA UP TO THAT SAVESTATE POINT IS STORED INSIDE THE SAVESTATE. 3. Why did you delete everything? Also, I don't like it when someone completely edits the content of their post after someone's already posted. it's REALLY irritating.

I have no idea where that is, I haven't played the game. How close is it to the last place you were? If it's very close, Then do as I said above. If it isn't, then it can't be an acceptable TAS...

How much of the game did you TAS before your last savestate?

(03:12:21) (Raiscan) GuidMorrow: open your "Truncated" movie. Make sure read-only is UNCHECKED.
(03:12:30) (Raiscan) then load your latest savestate you made while TASing
(03:12:55) (Raiscan) since movie information is included inside the savestate, you can continue.

I don't like the announcer voice. And the new air dodging. And Classic mode leaves something to be desired. I liked board the platforms and race to the finish, dammit! I enjoyed SSBM's adventure somewhat though.

Do either of the following: 1. Turn off Aero. You can have this be done automatically when you open mupen64 by right clicking on it, going to properties then clicking the compatibility tab. make sure "disable desktop composition" is checked. 2. Use OpenGL. As for sound, I'm unsure why there isn't any..
