I keep trying in the hopes that jabo 1.6 will work... no luck. and for some reason Rice stopped working for me. are there any objections to having an avi that is made entirely with direct64 (sound will sync)?
Any AVI is better than nothing. Edit: make sure Rice isn't in OpenGL mode.

Umm... no. If we can't find out the cause why it works on some PCs and not others, what hope do we have of getting an AVI that works?

All 3 of those pictures have an abnormally high FPS and VIs. Have you tried NOT fast forwarding? Whats your processor?

That ROM properties box. Did you change that? double check. The ROM Properties is the bottom center dialog box, just so you're looking at the right one.

After a few days of trying and failing to make an AVI, I'm disappointed to say that I can't get the audio to sync up (It seems to vary slightly every time theres a transition where things go silent, like entering the bomb shop). If anyone else wants to take a crack at it, feel free to. I'll try and help as much as I can.

a dummy reset after the initial ram is made, preventing the desynch all together.
(1)Would that fix it on your mupen? Like, start up the game, enter the name entry screen, reset and then hex in the rest of the data? (2)Would jabo1.6 then work all the way through? If this is the case, (3)The avi should be made that way... If not, then for future compatibility's sake, I still think a version of the m64 should be made that works in one go. I don't retract my Yes vote though because this is still an excellent run that works for me.
1. Would work yes. Hopefully, anyway. 2. Probably not. 3. I am unsure if the resets are recorded into the AVI. I'll leave okaygo to clear that up.

Adding another problem and solution here, This one slightly more specific to Mupen64 (may happen with other emulators). Attempting to record with a DirectX plugin and the Aero theme running will likely cause a blank AVI with no video but audio in the background. The solution to this is as follows:
  1. Right click the mupen exe or shortcut.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. Go to the Compatibility tab.
  4. Check the box for "Disable desktop composition". This will disable Aero whenever the program runs.
  5. Click OK and go about your business.
The screen will go blank for a second or 2 every time you open and close mupen, but AVI recording should now work properly.

A bot would almost always be boring during auto scrollers (that or spazzing out). A human usually adds something interesting and/or entertaining to the area.

Those rom properties are incorrect, Snake. It looks like its overriding your default settings, regardless of what you choose. change the rom properties settings to match your default plugin settings and all should be well. Edit: if that doesn't work, we can rule out graphics cards being the cause of sync issues because you have an almost identical card to mine :)

Oh ok, at this era, I was judge and encoder, I was wondering where it is. After not finding it, I thought that if I can't find such option then I am no good at encoding N64 games. I didn't have a single clue that lanczos is an imagemagick feature. Imo, it's not really related to encoding n64 movies. Next time be clear. :P
In the mencoder command line, "-sws 9" is lanczos. Just to clear that up.

I figured I could put some information on scaling types as well. These are all done with images, but the basic premise is the same. Source Image: http://www.bluetoaster.net/tasvideos/compare/odolwamassive.png Nearest Neighbour (Worst): Bilinear: Bicubic: Lanczos (Best): Comparing NN and Lanczos: Comparing Biliniar and Lanczos: I have to say I can't really notice the difference between the last two. Perhaps a bad picture example? Edit: Apparently the big sword edge and the top of the sword "swoosh" from links swords are places to look. Also, for ATI users with the Catalyst Control Center, open it up and look here. max out most of these settings for maximum quality (url to avoid stretching): http://www.bluetoaster.net/tasvideos/compare/catcontrolcent.png

AHHH! It keeps desynchen for me in the beginning... With Jabo right before the Scarecrow (runs in the middle of the area and then backjumps in the corner) and with Rice AFTER the Scarecrow. (runs on the edge and hangs there, after that he jumps in the water) @GeminiSaint what did you do to get rid of the desynch problems? I did nearly everything. Changed Plugins, changed emulator settings... (I tried about 10 different Graphic Plugins o.o) ANd yes im sure I have the right rom o.o
Have a look at this. Red lines are how one leads to another. Red rectangles are things that should almost definately be the same. If that doesn't work, try Rice but make sure the Render engine in its settins is set to DirectX.

Dear Fabian, If you could visit any point in time, where would you go and why? Don't worry, you will not cause any paradoxes and you can return to the present at any time you wish. I'm asking both you and Bisqwit as I feel it should provide interesting results.

Dear Bisqwit, This may have been mentioned somewhere on the site, but what Linux distro(s) do you use? why do you prefer this/these to others? Sincerely, <<< That guy

I keep getting a desynch after Link hits that owl statue in town. He moves about, then ends up standing in front a part of the wall at a stairway. After that he just does all sorts of crazy things, tries to switch items to an item that he doesn't have, and enters targeting mode a lot.
Make sure your plugins are absolutely IDENTICAL to the ones mukki used. Otherwise it just won't work at all. Video plugin needs to use default settings also (changing the resolution is fine). Failing that, hold down the frame advance down while going through that area and it should work. Savestates probably won't work though.

Just finished watching it. Words cannot describe how much effort has been put into this movie to make it as fast and as entertaining as possible. Without a doubt my favourite movie on this site. My only dislike about this movie is Jabo 1.5.2 was used. I mean, that plugin is just AWFUL at rendering parts of this game, and due to the sync issues its required to play it back. Perhaps for v2 you could consider using a different plugin? :) Obvious yes vote. Couldn't be easier to vote on this.

Suggested screenshot (frame 29959): I forget who originally suggested this, but I feel its most appropriate.

You know I seriously believe theres not an ounce of common sense to be found between you two sometimes. Perhaps you're trying too hard to find an answer to a rediculously easy-to-fix problem. Thanks moozooh for providing the much-needed common sense.

Of course, because someone has to have selfish intents in order to make a topic aimed to providing 'Off topic' with something rather than Rridgway burns. Honestly..

Sounds like it MIGHT be a codec you have installed causing problems. You haven't mixed and matched different codec packs have you? try uninstalling any codec packs installed and try the latest FFDShow.
