Ahh the dilemma, I could be either consuming energy to help treat people with diseases and stuff and thus giving us a bright future, or I could be wasting energy by keeping my PC doing something that might not actually help anyone in the end. Possibly saving lives while consuming the earth's natural resources. Still, suppose it's better than Seti@Home.

This comment sparked my interest to trial it and see what the outcome was. Specifically my CPU is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ (Toledo). In order to test at least slightly fairly, I turned off my Cool 'n' Quiet stuff, and measured my computer's power usage at idle, and running the program. Idle: 155W Full load: 195W = 40W increase. Of course with Cool 'n' Quiet functioning my Idle CPU power usage is around 135W, which would mean the full load increase would be around 60W. Might not sound much but the cumulative effect of it is. It all adds up :)

Wasn't there a faster version of this that triple jumped off the arch and wall kicked over the fence? Edit: I was thinking of the flying cap version.

I voted yes. Something to consider; if LagDotCom has been working on this run and has not been able to come up with his Bulbasaur missing both attacks, whats to say that its actually possible to be manipulated without actually losing time instead, or causing more luck problems later on which waste time? Of course if it turns out to be possible and is resubmitted, I'll vote yes on that also.

This would be more like a test run than anything.
Your definition of a test run seems a bit off..

This is quickly becoming one of my most anticipated TASes. I especially liked the running through the blades without invulnerability. Nice work.

I don't actually remember. I think its highly likely it was some sort of run that led me here. Thats about the best answer I can give. Probably Super Mario Bros. 3 by JXQ.

That whole area behind the blue wave is apparently an interance to DDD. You'd likely have to be Under the wave in order to skip it. Of course, you could enter it anyway to do a 1-star run.

In short? RAM Watch. You directly view a variable in the RAM to see what value it is, and as a result how fast he is.

Seems a pretty cheap way to get a slightly faster input end, but actually make it take longer to finish the game. Also, input entered after the end of the movie will likely prevent the game from finishing.

I'm still hoping senor Upthorn or Raiscan can provide good maps. Redoing all stages 3 times each does not sound happy to me.
Each map takes around 2-5 hours or so, depending on things such as my concentration and the size of the level. If neither you nor Upthorn manages to find an easier way to make them, I'll be happy to spend a bit of time making maps.

Just-for-fun run. Savestates (and as such rerecords) were used during those blasted special stages of doom and near the end where its so late here and I can't be bothered. Should probably just be considered a playthough/scout for interesting game behavior..

I've voted yes on this (It was short enough to keep my attention yet long enough for me to work out what was going on) but I have to ask whether any checking to determine if you could warp somewhere else closer in the game. Perhaps somewhere would take you to a halfway point or the final boss just by luck?

I am under the assumption that different games require different settings, depending on motion, vibrant colours, platform etc. It would be a nice idea if someone made a complete collection of useful settings for every single game though. Also, making one purely for a submission may be a precious waste of resources if it is immediately apparent that the said submission is lacking of quality.

I think quite a few wrongly assumed you need to register to download an AVI. I go to one forum with an online game that you need to register to play. 50% of users have never posted.
I'm pretty sure a large majority would try their luck first and have a go.

Its also implemented in Gens, which splits the AVIs into 2gb segments.

Should be fixed by SP1, whenever that is. Note that this problem is recognised after AVI dumping by the following conditions: 1. Corrupted-looking video stream (on uncompressed, the video appears 'wrapped' slightly). Example: 2. Bad sound. 3. Mysteriously works in ffdshow and Media Player Classic. Also works in VirtualDub 1.7.2. If there are other problems you are experiencing, you might be having an entirely different issue. I'm playing it through now as Shadow. It seems very well made and interesting, but there are a few bugs in it that can be problematic (Springs not working) and it would probably require lots of lag handling, though that will be easier thanks to Upthorn's new version of Gens. I'll edit this post later for any interesting quirks I descover.

Okay I'm pulling straws here but heres the last few things I can think of: 1. Try playing the movies in VLC. 2. Try another plugin. Say, if you're using glN64 right now, try Rice's Video Plugin (Google for it) 3. Try another game? If theres no joy from any of those, I'm sorry but I really don't know what the problem might be.

Hi there! If you are indeed a Vista user, the following steps should (with any luck) fix your AVIs. Step 1: Get the experimental VirtualDub (1.7.2 as of writing) here. Step 2: Open your avi up in it Step 3: "Audio --> Direct Stream Copy" and "Video --> Direct Stream Copy" MUST be set. Step 4: "File --> Save as AVI..." and save it elsewhere. If that does not work, try making a 20 sec uncompressed AVI in the emulator and doing the above steps. If that works, at least you know you can save uncompressed.. (ffdshow's H264 Lossless can be fixed by VirtualDub) Please post your results here so we know if something worked or didn't :)
