Blech. If I wanted to watch the floor for 20 seconds, I can just turn to the right on my chair 90 degrees, tilt my head down 45 degrees, and stare. *does so* Ahh, sweet burgandy carpet, how I've missed you. (It would be better if you used that idea somewhere nice and open, so Mario can be seen at almost all times.)

That gets a simple thumbs up in my opinion.

Do you have any designs in mind? just all the thumbnails one after the other on the same lines, or more like a contents page with a thumbnail/game/run title?

I disagree with replacing the full size images in almost any way, simply because not only do they portray the game and what can be expected in the run of said game, but because they can be at times very entertaining.

You say reduced amount of traffic, but these are images we are talking about. No matter what their size, their cumulative effect would be greater than that of 5-6 paragraphs of text, am I right? (Edit: I say this in the case of appending the thumbnails to the top of the existing page) Saying that, the idea sounds okay. It would perhaps need more order than is in the old site (uneven spacing and flow positioning make my head hurt). Edit2: Just out of curiosity, why were they left behind when the new site was created?

Thank you for proving to us that the forum template can indeed be stretched with long numbers.

Here we have an impressive hack put together by Stealth, placing Knuckles into Sonic the Hedgehog 1. The game has been discussed here a bit, but you can find its official topic here at the Sonic 2 Beta message board. All of Knuckles' abilities are preserved and are true to the feel of playing as Knuckles in other Sonic games with LOCK-ON TECHNOLOGY.
See that link there? I bolded it a bit so its easier to see. If you go there, in the very first paragraph theres another link:

I wasn't 100% happy with the original release, so I did something about it. I thought a new topic was best, since some people are probably bored enough with the conversation in the original thread to end up missing this, had it been put there instead
In there is the hack required to play the movie. In your defence, the link is nowhere to be seen on the publication, but perhaps if you dug a little deeper on some of them by reading the submission you might have more luck finding answers.

No. Please No. You know how it won't live up to its hype.

On a slightly offtopic note, wasn't it made by the Wachowski Brothers?

I vote on/watch submissions only for games which I have played. Exceptions to this are hacks, runs getting alot of attention (with encouragement like "hey you must watch that run!") and runs of games that are sequels/prequels to games I have played. After all, how can I vote/comment on a run when I know nothing about the game itself? If there is a particularly good/entertaining run for a game I haven't played, I try to play the game before I watch the speedrun, just to get a feel for what is possible in the game. It generally gives me more amusement when watching the run because I can see how much the game is messed up (An example of this was Metroid, which I had never played beforehand).

Or why not a gif? (Provided as a link rather than a direct image for those who would prefer not to see because of personal reasons, not watched the movie yet or otherwise) http://www.14lines.com/macros/AlteredBeast.gif

If by modern, you mean 1988-1990 (I should note that this is before today's kids were born), then yes the Genesis is a very modern machine.

Again, I never approved 2 players run beating a 1 player movie. So I don't consider it an "improvement" since it's the 1st 2 players movie.
So even though its faster than the 1p movie, you don't consider it an improvement because it uses 2p. Okay, so Sonic 3 & Knuckles wasn't an improvement either. Or Sonic 2. They both use 2p and they are much faster. In that case, can we expect you to be voting no on the next Gunstar Heroes run because it uses both hard mode and 2p?

There was something in the ridiculousness of the 'bear scene' that made me laugh. Great improvement compared to the last one. Yes vote.

I would HIGHLY recommend using the rom version which doesn't have the pipe glitch, as the fun is sucked from the game a little each time the glitch is used. I think its 1.2 or something.

I made a run on this (25:57) . I would submit it but there are some parts I'm not pleased with, especially in the star level.
Do you mean you won't actually make a submission to hopefully be published, or you won't submit it to the forums for others to see? Personally I would quite like to see the run, even if there are known problems with certain parts.

So, lets break down the options that would have to be availible in order to get <16 stars (no particular order):
  1. Find a way in general to get upstairs without the key
  2. Find a way to trick the game into thinking you have the key
  3. Trick the game into loading upstairs
  4. Trick the game into loading the final bowser battle/course
  5. Get into Bowser 2 without the DDD star (15 Star run)
  6. Get behind the DDD door without mips
Anything I've missed?

I'm not sure this game is very good to do you start off with weak characters who can barely reach the greens in Par and the fairways are very wide open, this might be a tricky game to differenciate between normal play.
This can be solved by manipulating the wind to be always behind you.

I played around with this game just to get a feel for the frame advance and such for mupen. I found the following things:
  • It takes alot of time to optimize with aiming. The game on the TAS level will be more like a strategy/puzzle game IMO :)
  • Its possible to manipulate the wind behind you before starting the course (and as such score WAY under par/hole in one.)
  • It COULD get repetitive (I didn't stick with it long enough to find out) without hole in ones.
If you do take this up (or anyone else except for CF) I'll be happy to watch it and give any critique/suggestions.

I was under the assumption that Nero 6 is supposed to install it automatically. The link to the nero site just happens to be one of the places you can get that particular file from.

http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/WNASPI32.DLL.html Copy it into Gens' directory. I don't see the need to put it into a system directory if you only need it for Gens.
