I don't really get why everyone seems to want the scripted encode...like I said, it's horrible, and instead of just smoothly jumping between the points, it ends up as some wacky loading or wait screen with irritating, out-of-place choppy "music"
I'm considering making another encode that just skips the emeralds and removes the hyper sonic music/flash. I would also like to have it skip the score tallys too, but not the stage title screens as it makes the audio skip around a bit more than I'd like. I haven't looked at the script to see if this is possible though.

You sure you wanna be affiliated with a website which distributes massive amount of illegal downloads?
What other torrent site would you prefer?

OpenDNS is blocking mininova.org. I'll have to put it in my whitelist to get into it. Seems that site is being blocked due to the amount of warez/porn being downloaded from there.
Well, it is a tracker that tracks warez. As such this isn't a problem with OpenDNS. The problem is you have warez blocked from within the OpenDNS settings. I thought this was common knowledge..

you know, rather than destroy the forum layout have you guys just considered giving a link to the image rather than showing it directly?

I've done an encode, but it's still not at the quality that I want. I'll wait until a decision is made on this before I use more of my time on it but until then, I've made a torrent for you all :) Sonic 3 & Knuckles by marzojr /w uninteresting bits removed "Uninteresting bits" are score tally, emerald acquisition and level loading. Sonic off screen IS included, as it's nice to know what's actually going on in a run like this. Also thanks to the sensational Upthorn this encode also has the hyper sonic flash removed. Enjoy. Edit: I'd also like to express my thanks to those whom have stuck around to seed a large-ish file such as this. Your assistance is greatly appreciated :)

Is there an encode yet? Thanks
I started last night and this morning I've realised that I accidentally used exhaustive motion estimation. As such it probably won't be ready until this evening or tomorrow.

1) part of the actual screen will most likely be covered by lower window's title bar; 2) I'm very sure no-one's actually going to adjust the screens manually each time they open the file.
1) If the streams are swapped in the mkv then the floating one can be the top one (and as such there would be very little of a gap). 2) Last known position seems to be saved on exit. Alternatively, an .avs can be provided that takes the streams and outputs them in a specific position/way.

Just thought I'd mention this here; If you put 2 video streams in an MKV and open it in VLC it opens two windows, one for each stream. Then you could make the gap however big you want :) Upsides? For a start, if you have a screen which isn't doing much at all then it's a huge decrease in filesize since that video stream can have a really low bitrate (and extreme decimation if the encoder uses this). Each screen can also be resized independantly and moved to where the viewer wants. Downsides? Well, it doesn't do scaling gracefully (it does nearest neighbour for some reason) and so anything that needs aspect ratio correction looks bad. Luckily for DS games though this isn't required :) Correction: Using OpenGL for rendering no longer leaves me with this problem. Also the implementation is a big buggy at the moment.. I tried a proof of concept about a month ago with a couple of the runs I was encoding at the time. Here's the result: Edit: I'd just like to mention theres a whole load of other uses this has as well for other consoles. You could have a display of memory values for those that want them or a special visualisation. Even input and frame stuff could be put in a seperate stream at little space cost.

Any chance that the lua script could be modified to also include hyper sonic screen flashing? :)

I said I'd encode this, and I will. But before I do, if anyone can give me a game genie/ patch code to disable the hyper sonic flash, that would be great. it's so annoying if you aren't the one playing the game :-/

Okay. Lets delete every post on the site and have only runs completed and WIP checkpoints. My point is that just because you don't THINK something is relevant, doesn't mean that it isn't. Also, having something in the first post is useful for people like me who just want to look at the status of things. Why have the post 5 posts down if you can put it at the top and avoid scrolling?

Rather than have 5(!) posts telling us to scroll down, wouldn't it be more logical to have something of value in the first post?

Well, I enjoyed the run so much that if you decide to submit it, I'll encode it without verdict from a judge. If you decide not to submit it, let me know what your final version is and I'll encode that. :)

it wasn't. Adelikat got confused and changed it to Kirby's Avalanche. I changed it back.

Hi! I am an indecisive publisher. I took a few screenshots of this movie and placed them here. Here goes! Feel free to pick from the list.

Agreed. 90% of your posts come with irrelevant pictures and text and I've grown tired of it.

Okay, I've got a pic of XP Mode. Interestingly, XP found updates for itself and showed me the most annoying part of it :)

Err, not in Windows 7 it doesn't.

Again, are you talking about Vista or 7? 7's UAC is much better than Vista's. From what I can tell you're complaining about Vista's version..

As far as I know, the only admin protected folder are the windows folders and the program files stuff. If you're extracting that much stuff to program files (which is discouraged as it's supposed to be for important programs) then why not make a folder for your own stuff in program files, or just turn up the permissions for program files? you'll still have protection on the Windows folder and other vital stuff.

Have you set the permissions right for the folder your program(s) is/are accessing? If it's a folder you write to/modify alot, just turn the permissions up.
