I was thinking about a perfect TAS. Of course, we cannot try every combination of inputs because there are too many. We can only think we've done the best we can with the rules we've induced. Only having source code will allow us to say to "prove" a TAS is perfect, right?

I guess this thread is as good enough as any to post something I've been wondering about: Would source code be helpful for improving a run? If so, what are the possibilities of requesting (and receiving) it, or decompiling?

I read but could not find... Does Bastet give all of the pieces, or only continually the Z and S pieces? It says, "Bastet uses a special algorithm designed to choose the worst brick possible." Doesn't this just mean always Z and S pieces?

I think Josh L. did the first Zelda 1 first quest video. It was 36 minutes.

I can't help, but here's some mathematical analysis. http://www.cut-the-knot.org/pythagoras/fifteen.shtml

It played fine for me, even though it didn't really play by the rules to be accepted here. It was more of an aesthetic demonstration. He applied the cheats or whatever to give the enemies 1000% health, so they all took about 20 head shots to go down. Amusingly, a little computer explosion will do what 10 bullets to the head could not.
That's not a cheat. You can do that in the real game. It's an option that unlocks after you've beaten every level on 00 Agent.

I'm glad to see this thread because I have the exact same problem. It started after I installed a shitton of codecs, and a jumbo codec package. I imagine the problem lies with codec confliction, but I wouldn't know which ones are conflicting. So, I just open Media Player Classic, and browse to the file I want to open that way. It works, even though it is more work...

Is there a way to make a bigame movie involving two games of different consoles? I'm thinking: if you push the R button on the SNES controller, couldn't that just be a non-input on the NES controller? If not, and we can only use the buttons the controllers have in common, would it be possible to do, or is there something different about the header information of whatever of the keylog files?

Sorry to bump an old thread. I was wondering: does anyone know if there are 2 oe 3 different endings? I tried googling for an answer. One FAQ on GameFAQs said you get a different ending with 51-59 red emeralds. Another site (I think GameSpot) said the different ending requires 70 red emeralds. Is the ending different if you get all of them, compared to if you get most of them?

I believe there was a video floating around of the second quest being beaten swordless, where he did give away all three hearts. Don't remember the mechanics of it, though.

The mushroom house death (and all sorts of other tricks) can be found on Genisto's Full Amazing SMB3 Run. Prone to desyncs, depending on which version of FCEU you have. The thread on this run is here.
Haha, thanks. Funny indeed.

But I don't consider these to be as funny as the SMB3 death in a mushroom house by Genisto.

I did the small Mario challenge, but I had to use the color switches. I played through Forest of Illusion, to get to the star corresponding to the Red Yoshi level on Star Road. I needed the color switches to get that key.

Graphs are useful. They represent data of sorts. Graphs come in many forms: pie, scatter, bar. I'm saddened and dissapointed to see so few graphs in regards to beating games quickly. Let's see some.

jimsfriend, in your run, are you allowed to: 1) get Yoshi 2) use baby Yoshi 3) get a color switch 4) get a starman 5) get an air balloon 6) get a midpoint post, then immediately and intentionally get injured? I was trying the game small tonight, but I didn't know what the exact rules were. Just a slight change, like being able to get an air balloon or not, can really change the level order.

Apparently some diehard fan based his life around that video game.

Thanks. I've been wondering what's been back there for years. Now someone did it for me!

A guy on SDA said he was going to do Super Mario World small. I was excited to see it, but he's taking his time on releasing it. I wouldn't mind seeing a TAS of that.

I have a raccoon Mario on a spring and a Luigi on a cloud. They're from McDonald's happy meals. Also, there's the backflipping goomba, and the turtle. But this must have been bought as a seperate toy. It's by a company called Applause. They also made a big Mario doll which I have. http://www.atarihq.com/tsr/other/index.html
