I don't know if this was known before, but the "next P increase" RAM address is $0515, and not $055D. Your P level will increase by 1 when this value goes from 0 to some other value, 7 if you're running on ground, and 23 if you're in mid-air. I confirmed that this is the right address using the memory poke function. Perhaps it will help someone out.

For the record, I've been watching this run with the ROM "Rockman & Forte (J).smc", which doesn't match the movie's checksum, but so far I haven't experienced any desyncs, so I don't think it's anything to worry about.

I'd say Finaly Fantasy 7. And speaking of which, OCRemix recently finished their FF7 album, "Voices of the Lifestream", which is pretty good, so fans of Final Fantasy music might want to check it out.

How can you know how much lag there is?And how can you know one's speed,X position,Y position, and other address? Can you teach me?
Sure. ;) I'm using FCEU 0.98.16. This version of FCEU has a "Memory watch" function (Tools->Memory watch..), that allows you to watch RAM addresses. The X position, X speed, when there is lag, and all other things you might want to know, are stored in these RAM addresses. So if you find the addresses for these things, just type them in into the memory watcher, and you can keep track of them! You can find addresses using the "Cheat" function (Tools->Cheats...). You first need to guess how the value will behave, and then start performing searches to find the value you want. Usually, you will end up with around 5-10 values, so just type them all in into memory watcher, and then check which one of them is the one you were looking for. Slightly off topic, but I hope it helped you out :) I can try to explain more into detail if you want to, in that case you can PM me. Good luck! :)

Wow, 1000 movies... This site has come a long way since I joined - it had 380 movies back then. Congratulations to Kyrsimys for being the author of the 1000:th movie. Hopefully we'll reach 2000 movies someday. :D

I get as desync around frame 29000 in this movie. You enter the menu, set the speeds to max, then you enter the "save" section and stay there. I have tried playing this movie 3 times, and I get a desync here on all tries. I'm using SNES9X 1.43+ v9, and the ROM "Final Fantasy II (U) (V1.1).smc", which has a matching checksum. On "Emulator Sync settings" I have "Use WIP1 timing" checked, everything else is unchecked.

I just watched this now, and here's my feedback: The game selection was decent, nothing spectacular, but not too bad. The sound and graphics were okay, but the constant jumping got kinda annoying after a while because the screen scrolled whenever you made a jump. As for the quality, it seemed pretty good, but not perfect. I've never played the game, but as Chamale stated, overall I got the impression that some jumps and attacks could be done faster, but I could be wrong. :P The level selection and the intro screen aren't done as fast as possible. I managed to get them done 38 frames faster. Here's the movie file showing this. I manage to get Asterix to appear on frame 1282, and in your movie he appears on frame 1320. If I have some free time, I might fool around a bit with the game's physics. Good luck with the rest of this! EDIT: Corrected the URL-link to link to the movie, sorry about that...

Xipo: Are you certain that using two characters is faster than using one? I compared this run to a WIP I made some time ago, and you lose at at least 24 frames because of lag on level 1 alone. Besides the fact that there is lots of lag, this run can be significantly improved if you keep moving while you're charging up to the animal form, which I showed Cardboard in the discussion thread in the NES section. For comparison, my WIP of level 1 is 240 frames faster after the first level, mainly because of this trick, so I'm guessing at least 10-15 seconds can be shaved off thanks to this trick. Here's the movie showing this trick Sorry, but I'm gonna have to vote no, because it can be improved by a lot. :(

Very good run. I wonder if we'll ever see yet another improvement to this run... Again, great run, awesome job. :)

Are we talking about using a gamepad for recording input to a TAS? Of course this is allright. For all we care you could use a joystick or whatever tool you want. We don't care how you record your input, as long as you follow the other rules this is totally allright. In theory, you could record a TAS simply by editing in input to the movie with TAS movie editor, as long as the movie file achievies its goals, it's ok. If it wasn't permitted to use a gamepad, they would have to take down every one of my TASes... :P

Has anyone made a new .avi encoding yet? I hope it hasn't been completely forgotten yet. :) Thanks in advance. EDIT: Woohoo for the 1000:th post! :D

That was probably the funniest game I've ever seen! I wonder if that game would actually make a bad TAS; those who watch it will probably fall over laughing because of how bad it is! ;)

I don't know much about the Artpad site, but perhaps it's possible that whoever uploaded that picture (or some moderator) took it down (if that's even possible), thus causing the link to show a blank image? I'm just throwing out ideas here. :)

I watched this yesterday, but forgot to vote. I enjoyed watching it, so here's another "yes".

As a side note, I have been told that there is a major improvement in level 5. I don't know what to do with it yet, but I don't like the idea of having yet another easily improvable version of this game published...
Have you tried editing in this improvement using TAS movie editor? Or will that cause desyncs later?

I just watched this run now, and I'm voting meh, leaning moe towards the "no"-direction. This was my impression from this run, having never played this game before: This game seems to be many mini-games in one. There were all the questions, the car race, the train ride, etc. Unfortunately, even though this game had some variety, I didn't really find any part interesting. The questions weren't really interesting and the car race and the train ride were pretty uneventful. The platformer parts were probably the best parts, but even those weren't very fun to watch either. No part was terrible, they were just... not so interesting to me. And once again, I think it was the game choise that was the problem here. The TAS looked very optimized and well played, so kudos to that. :) I encourage you to try TASing some other game, and perhaps post your progress on the forums so people can give feedback. More Swedish TASers around here is always a plus. ;) You might want to format the submission text too, it looks kinda blurry, and it looks really messed up when you look at the details page. You don't need to quote the questions from the submission instructions either, you could just answer those questions in a fluent text. As stated above, meh vote.

The site is down now and then for different reasons. Sometimes there is maintenance going on, sometimes there is a problem with the Bisqwit's modem, etc. To put things short, though the site can be down from time to time, it's usually up again within an hour, so just try again after a while if you can't get on the site. And this question has been asked before, though I don't remember the name of that thread so I couldn't find it. Also, "having problems getting on" probably isn't the best way to phrase your problems, it can easily be misinterpreted. ;)

I TAS with my gamepad, but when it comes to controlling two characters at the same time, I use the keyboard for player 2. I also play games with my gamepad. Though some games, like the older Zelda games, works fine to play with the keyboard if I have to.

Wow, this has to be one of the funniest crimes ever commited. :) I have no idea what those men were thinking. Probably not much at all.

10 years sentence? Isn't that a little too harsch? Though it could be that I'm from Sweden, and the jail-time here overall pretty low.

I've used this program many times. Perhaps, when I have, I'll write a short guide, with pictures, on how to use the splicer function. But for now, follow mmbossman's advice, and it should work.

That was pretty entertaining, but the score tallying took way too much time in my opinion. I would personally prefer to watch an .avi of this run with the score tallying edited out, if that's possible.

Before starting the TAS, get to know the emulator you're using. Find out how frame advance and savestates work. It might be a good idea to learn a thing or two about watching RAM addresses. Plan your run well. Know exactly what route you're going to use, and what items you're gonna pick up. Fool around with game before you start TASing it, looking for tricks and glitches. Make sure you've played through the game at least once before attempting to TAS it.
