I'm very sorry, but I'm gonna have to vote "no" on this... neither me or my room-mate (who watched this with me), found this entertaining to watch, and my room-mate knows a little about go. Another slightly bad thing about the game is that it's really slow. Even when turbo-ing through the movie I didn't miss anything. I think that those who knows go very well might appreciate the movie, but for the rest of us... this movie just isn't entertaining at all, sorry. :( Good job with the luck-manipulation, though. Oh, and my room-mate liked the ninjas in the corner. :)

I fully agree. It looks very optimized, and was fun to watch. I'm voting yes.

I hate to be a pain about this, but your movie file don't work. :( When I downloaded it and tried to play it in SNES9X, it says "File is wrong version". Basically, it doesn't recognize the file as an .smv-file. Perhaps your SMV-file is broken or something... My suggestion is that you make sure that the SMV-file can be played in SNES9X before you upload it. If it still doesn't work, you might want to record a new movie, and load the latest savestate, and then upload it.

The password you posted seems to be wrong, it doesn't work for me. And you should upload your run here instead, it's much more convenient. I'll take a look at this once you've uploaded it there. :) I made a short WIP of this game, here. It's probably improvable though, but it could be used as a base for level 1. EDIT: Oh, and I'm sure you've seen the run on Speed Demos archive: http://speeddemosarchive.com/DeathValleyRally.html If not, you should watch it carefully, it's pretty good.

Dear Bisqwit, do you have any favourite TV show (excluding anime)? Or is there any TV show you're actively watching, or watched? And what's your favourite movie? (not TAS, I'm talking about real movies here :P)

I don't quite get what you mean, but are you saying that you have made a TAS and want to share it with the community? If so, you should upload it to DeHacked's microstorage. If the run is completely finished, you might want to submit it. Was this what you were asking about? I don't really get what you're meaning with "elephant". There are a few users on this forum who speak chinese, so if you're having trouble expressing yourself in english, perhaps you could post your question in chinese, and one of these other users might translate it for the rest of us.

Dear Bisqwit, is there any game that haven't been TASed yet (for the consoles that have a reliable TAS-emulator) that you would personally like to see TAS:ed? Is there any run on this site that you think is in big need of improvement? (you don't need to answer this if you don't want to, I can understand that the author of that run might be offended.)

Awesome movie! That gave me a good excuse not to go to bed. ;) The quality was excellent, as expected. :) I have one question though: After you beat a boss, you usually keep running on the right edge of the screen before it starts to scroll. An example of this is around frame 17700. Have you tested if running against the edge of the screen affects your subpixel position? If it does, you might want to optimize your subpixels before Mega Man starts to move. This could perhaps save only one or two frames, but it might be something to consider.

I'm voting "meh" on this, leaning more towards "no" than "yes". Good things: *It was very short. *The game choise wasn't that bad. *It kept me interested those whole 6.55 seconds. ;) Bad things: *Nothing spectacular happened, and it didn't look superhumanly played. EDIT: Maybe you chould play more than one round, since one round is a little too short? Five rounds perhaps? I mean, if this is a concept demo, it might be fun to show of some more things this game has to offer, I think there are some special weapons that you can acquire.

Yep, I have a similiar gamepad myself. Perhaps you should download "Joy to Key" if you want to assign some hotkeys to the gamepad buttons. I usually have turbo mode assigned to the "R2" button when playing RPG:s on SNES9X. Those random encounters take too much time on 100% speed. ;)

2 years between my two posts... Does that count as double posting...? Anyway, I had some free time, and I tried to beat Randil's current Goonies II TAS. So far, I'm 197 frames ahead at the 2nd goonie. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/721412121/Goonies%20II%2C%20The%20%28U%29%20DJ%20FozzBozz.fcm
It looks really good! The "using death as a shortcut" trick blew my mind, I never considered you could do that, so thumbs up for that. Overall, it seemed really optimized, so I can't complain about anything. ;) I'm curious though, how much faster do you think this will be when it's finished? 15-20 seconds? Perhaps you should keep it secret, it will be more of a surprise when it's done. :) If you need any RAM-addresses, I have a few, such as X-position and current HP and some other basic stuff. I'm looking forward to the next update. It's about time someone tries to obsolete my old run. ;)

Very nice run, and I think you chose the goals well too. Yes vote. I noticed a small typo in the comments: "This goal is a more stricter goal than Genisto's, since he using Laser three times."

Now again. Are you still working on this now? I've watched a complete run on this game before. Your WIP seems faster than that one, but you just used up your "magic fire wheels" or something in the first level, which could make it harder to deal with the enemy around in the next level.
I'm not working on this right now. I might pick it up sometime in the future, but we'll have to see about that. I didn't consider saving up my fire wheels from level 1 to level 2, so that's a potential improvement. Either way, if I ever pick this game up again, I'll redo the run from scratch, now that I have a good memory watching tool. If you, or anyone else, feels like TASing this game then by all means go ahead. :) EDIT: Oh, and where did you find this complete run? I would like to see that.

After reading through this post, I found two broken links on the Converting FCM To AVI In Windows page: 1. The link to the FFDshow codec, http://ffdshow.sourceforge.net/ is broken. It should be changed to http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow 2. The link to XViD Codec, http://www.koepi.org/ also seems to be broken, at least I didn't find any link to the XViD codec there. Perhaps it should be changed to http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/ or some other trusted site.

I don't know how I should take that, but... thanks, I guess. I'll try to control myself more in the future. :P EDIT: Hehe, I had a feeling you were just messing with me, but it can be hard to tell sometimes. ;) Thanks for the vote. :)

Wow. That was really fast and well done. The only thing I can think of is whether it would be faster in the final boss battle to run between the saxophone players to collect notes from them both instead of just one. If not, I vote yes. (I voted yes because I'm sure you already thought of that and found it slower).
I already thought of that, but the notes on the left side of the room don't give me M-points, they give me more health. Otherwise it could perhaps save some time. Maybe I should add this to the author's comments...

Dear Bisqwit, Do you think you will be making TAS:es again in the near future? It's been a while since we saw a submission from you. Sincerely, Randil

I've noticed that when TASing Gameboy-games or SNES-games, JoyToKey will only advance 1 frame if you hold down the frame advance button on your gamepad for a period of time, which is pretty annoying. JTK works just fine with FCEU, though. If you're using a Logitech-gamepad, perhaps you got a CD together with the gamepad (at least I did with my gamepad). That CD includes a program called "Logitech profiles" where you can assign keyboard buttons to gamepad buttons, as well as some other stuff too.

All I can say is WOW :) DWD was one of my favourite runs on this site and your improvement is far beyond what I thought was possible for this game. Two huge thumbs up Randil. You just keep setting the bar higher :D
You should note that it was AnS who did most of the work here, so you should give a big thumb up for him, and a smaller thumb up for me. But thanks anyway. :)

*sniff* That's... that's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me... *sniff* *dries the tears running down my face* :P (hehe, but seriously, thanks :) ) Oh, and I agree with adelikat that this game is a little slow before getting the speed shoes (1 pixel per frame isn't much to brag about), but luckily speed shoes can be picked up quite early in most stages.

Is it just me, or did all the ratings for this movie suddenly dissapear? I checked this movie about an hour ago, and about 5 people had voted so far (I only remember adelikat as one of them). Now, this movie suddenly has 0 ratings. Why is this?

As for 4-2, I've managed to end up like 2-3 frames faster du to some new technique I found but it wasn't useful due to 21 frames rule.
so technically, couldn't the current SMB1 TAS be more entertaining by purposly wasting what ever frames they have to wait for the frame-rule? since it can be done? or, does the current TAS already do this.
Pom's TAS does waste frames to add to the entertainment value, this is especially noticable on the first level. However, it's possible that you can waste even more frames, to add more entertainment, without losing any time thanks to the 21-frame rule. I guess you just have to keep a good eye on RAM address 077F to see how many frames you can waste on every level.
