Sorry for being away for so long, but I (finally) made another WIP today. In this WIP I don't pick up Minnie's weapon, which saves about 1000 frames, or 16.7 seconds. But 've had some really bad luck on the first boss this time around... Here's the WIP. CtrlAltDestroy: If you have time, could you please check if you can do the first boss faster (or at least give some constructive feedback if you have any)? I've tried really hard, but I had some terrible luck on him. Compared to my first submission, this time he jumps much sooner, making it impossible to pass under him. That's why I jump over him instead (wasting 32 frames). I guess it could be possible to manipulate luck to make him jump later, but this would probably waste more than 32 frames... Besides the boss fight, all other parts went pretty smooth. :) EDIT: For those who want to know, this WIP is currently 1061 frames (17.68 sec) faster than my first submission. I will loose some time later on though due to skippoing Minnie's weapon. EDIT2: I managed to beat the boss 31 frames faster today. So this attempt is now only 1 frame slower than in my first version. I'm satisfied with that result. Here it is if anyone wants to see. EDIT3: To avoid double-posting, here's another edit including my progress: I beat the first level 1098 frames (18.3 sec) faster than in my previous submission. I beat level 2 by 4 frames, but I lost 24 frames on the boss due to not having Minnie's weapon. 24 frames isn't that much of a loss seeing that I saved around 1000 frames by skipping Minnie's weapon. We'll see how it turns out, but it should still be worth it. Here's the WIP. Is there any interest in this run whatsoever...? :P I haven't gotten any feedback so I'll just continue on in this manner unless someone stops me. :)

Very nice indeed. It seems we have a new master on Contra games now. :) This was an entertaining and actionfilled TAS. There was action throughout the whole movie, and some very precise shots and jumps. The game itself is very linear, but you did a good job making the viewer wonder what will happen next. While watching the movie, I imagined that adelikat was the blue player, and that Baxter was the red one, and that our two TAS-players had to defeat the great evil or something like that. I don't know if this was how you recorded the movie, but from this view, it became pretty funny to watch. :) *throws in the yes-vote.*

Hehe, I opened that link, scrolled down, and the first thing I saw was some prices for fences and shelters... This got me really confused, but then it hit me that this was one of these "emu-emulator" jokes. Good one. :)

I'm trying to make a warps-using TAS of this game. I think I can make some general improvements to it. However, one thing confuses me. How does the trick in 1-3 work where he wobble back and forth? What does the input look like? (I.E. hold B, otherwise have >____<<<<<>____<<<<<)
Can't you just look at the .fcm in frame advance with "input display" turned on? To get a better overall view of the input, you could open the .fcm in Maximus' TAS movie editor. It looks to me like he first presses left to start turning, and right as he is about to face left, he stops it by pressing right, and so on... And as far as I know, that wobbling trick is just for entertainment value, since he has to wait to get behind the white block, so you could also do something unique during that time. ;) Please, please, please post WIPs if you manage to beat any of his times. I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say that I'm more than interested if Genisto's masterwork can be beaten.

I did a test-run of the first stage of this game today, and by using a different strategy on the boss, I managed to beat it 415 frames (6.92 sec) faster. Here it is. I'm not 100% sure that my strategy on the boss is the fastest one, but I don't think it can be improved much more (if anything). You might also want to take a look at how I played the level - as you saw, I killed more enemies, and didn't miss any shots. Around frame 1350 I kill both the bird and the dinosaur, a very hard thing to do actually, even with frame advance, but it looks pretty impressive. :) So, when you redo this, make sure that it's at least as fast as my .fcm on the first stage, and try to keep the entertainment level up on the levels too. Good luck!

Great job of one of my childhood games. I remember playing this game several hours a day when I was a kid. Those were the days... :) This run looked very optimal. Very fluent and fun to watch. I vote yes. Is it just me who thinks this game has awesome music? I know the sound-quality is pretty bad, but the music itself... It's probably justbecause it brings back so many memories. :P

Yes, JXQ is right. For .avi-recording, use version 0.98.15.

I know only how to do it in FCEU: 1. Open FCEU twice, so you'll have two FCEU running. 2. On one them, go to "Config" and select "Enable background input". 3. Now, open the two ROMs you want to use, and voila, both emulators should now detect your input! Just make sure that you have the same hotkey-commands for both running emulators. And, if you want to make a bigame video with more than two games, just select "Enable background input" on the additional emulators. I hope that made any sense to you. :)

Amazing. Yet another high quality MMX run. Obvious yes vote. Will you be putting the Mega Man X serie on the shelf now?

I found most of my movies on YouTube some time ago, and it was Taipon who had uploaded them. I didn't really mind, he did mention all the necessary stuff in the comments, though he didn't ask me about permission before uploading them... The thing with sites like Youtube and Googlevideos is that if it doesn't say in the title who made the movie, people will usually think it's the one who uploaded it who made it, without even looking at the comments. Someone made a comment like "wow, nice movie you've made taipon!", which made me a little angry. So I think that mentioning who made the movie in the title is a good idea.

Vredesnäven, please come back... :( (vredesnäven is swedish for Angerfist) Otherwise I'll threaten you with changing my name to Rändil! ;) I personally liked the name Angerfist much better.

Wow, thanks a lot for all your tips! :) I haven't had time to test them all, but I'll get back to you when I have. My room-mate got very excited about Secret of Evermore, so I think We'll try that out first - once he gets his gamepad back... But don't let this post stop you from suggesting more games, it's always fun to know more good 2-player games, and I believe that more people than me are interested in this too! :)

Me and my room-mate are looking for a good 2-player game to play, and I was wondering if anyone here has any suggestions. We recently played (and beat) Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3, and we're mainly looking for similiar RPG's/Adventure games. We're also open for other type of games, but no fighting games like Street Fighter. We also want to be able to play the game at the same time, so games like Donkey Kong Country where one player is playing and the other one is waiting is not really in our interest either. Besides that, feel free to throw out your suggestions here. The game can be for any console with a good and stable emulator (ex. NES, SNES, GB, Genesis, N64). It's also a big plus if the game is long too, so we won't beat it in an hour or so. ;)

I remember you mentioning a WIP of this game a long time ago, and then I didn't hear about it until now. This run was very fast. As already mentioned, it has a lot in common with the Sonic Advance run. This run was really great, so I'll add another Yes. :)

So, it's been a while since the last update, so here's an update with all the relevant memory addresses I have right now: 007D: Mickey's horizontal position. 007E: Minnie's horizontal position. 007F: Mickey's vertical position. 0080: Minnie's vertical position. 00CD: Your current HP. 00A2: How many shots that Mickey can fire at the moment. For xample, a value of 0 means that you can't fire any more shots, and a value of 2means that Mickey can fire 2 additional shots. 00A3: The same thing as above, but for Minnie. 006F: The screen's position. This is relevant on all the sidescroller levels. 00BC: Has the value 0 if you have no weapon, 1 if you have only Mickey's weapon and 3 if you have both Mickey's and Minnie's weapon. 00F0 Number of times the secret has been hit (8 will reveal it). If you have anymore relevant addresses, CtrlAltDestroy, please let me know. I'll edit this post and add more in if I find any.

Very Yes. This is an extremely well done and entertaining TAS of a great game. TASes don't get much better than this. Excellent job! :)

Most notable Battle of Olympus, Tiny Toons (both on NES)… Probably something else that I don't remember.
It also works in the Super Mario All Stars version of Super Mario Bros 3.

C) I call dibs on TASing this game. I wonder if it would be an accepted hack.
Sorry for this, but I just had to try TASing this. :P You could try to beat my time if you want. :P It turned out really great. There's a lot of action in this movie, as well as some unexpected moments. This is most likely the best game to TAS. (a big dose of irony here) Here it is. And for those who want this movie to end at the original start-menu, I give a slightly longer movie here. Umm, enjoy the movies. At least they're short. :) This would probably make a better "no-input" TAS.

I'm having trouble watching this movie... I can't get past the "Press Start" screen. I'm using VBA version 19.3, and I have the right ROM. I didn't fiddle with any options, so basically I just booted up the emulator and played the movie. Are there some special settings I should check or something before watching this movie? If it helps, here are some details on my settings when I tried playing this movie: Record options: From Power-on. Game system: Game Boy Advance. Bios settings: Emulator's BIOS. Has anyone else encountered this problem? EDIT: Oh, and I also had "Allow left+right/up+down" unchecked, and no frame-skip, so I did read the comments before posting. ;)

This movie looked very optimized to me. The game itself is relatively fun, and pretty fast, nothing spectacular though. I'll vote yes on this. I have to admit though, that I tapped the turbo button during some of the boss battles - I found them pretty repetitive.

Great job on this. I liked the part where you "had" to destroy two systems to continue, but instead just glitched through the door - screw the rules, I have glitches! :) This kept me entertained, and it was well done, so I'll be voting yes on this.

Thanks, those will come in handy. I've found quite a few myself. I'll see if I can post them here tomorrow or so.

Very well done, and it was entertaining as well. I agree that this movie should obsolete the current two - mode B allows for quite some funny situation. Great job, and here's another Yes-vote. :)
