Well, there is a run of the 2nd Quest on SDA that doesn't use the Up+A sequence, here: http://speeddemosarchive.com/Zelda1.html#SS2ndQ Other than that, I couldn't find any run of the normal quest that doesn't use the Up+A sequence. Perhaps that 2nd Quest run was what you were looking for. :)

Randil, I tried to download your WIP, but the link was broken.
Oh... Hmm, well I found one version of my WIP lying around, I don't know if it's the latest one though. Anyway, here it is: http://files.upl.silentwhisper.net/upload3/zelda2_wip5_randil.zip I hope it can be of help! :) I'll try to check out your WIP soon.

It's possible to start the game without having to enter a name at all, I did this in my WIP. This is done by pressing START on the exact right frame, so use frame advance for this. For reference, check out my WIP posted somewhere in this thread. Oh, and i haven't watched your WIP yet, but it sounds really interesting! :) If you haven't done so, you should compare your time to mine, too, to make sure you do things at least as quickly.

Nice video! A little short though... I know who Xaphan is, but who is playing this "Sakura"? Or is it Xaphan that's playing Sakura too?

Oh, another "I have troubles watching this AVI"-post. If you didn't get it to work from reading the FAQ, try this step-by-step guide. It should work then. 1. Download FFDshow here (copy the link and paste it into the adress-window): http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=1741&s=50 2. Install FFDshow using the .exe-file you just downloaded. 3. Open the AVI using a good movieplayer, such as VLC or BSPlayer. I guess Windows Media Player should work too. I guess this is pretty much what the Codec Problems page tells you to do, but here it is again. ;)

Nice. I haven't watched Walker's run, but this run seemed really well done, and since it obsoletes Walker's run by 69 seconds, which is A LOT for these short movies, this gets an obvious Yes! Entertaining and short run, good job! :)

Great movie! What a great way to start the day, with a high-quality TAS! :) I liked the wall-glitch, and overall it was really well-played, and also highly entertaining. Thumbs up, and voting Yes! :)

Haha, very nice movie Bisqwit! There were places in it that I found very entertaining. A little sad you won't be continuing it... Anyway, nice job! :)

Umm, Felix, avatars shouldn't be more than 80*80 pixels.... yours is 320*320 pixels. I suggest you remove it or at least fix its size before any moderator or Bisqwit removes it.

I suggest you go for optimal speedrun, with damage being taken. Taking damage to save time is quite an art itself, and often requires a lot of planning, but on the upside, it can save a lot of time too. :) I wish you good luck on doing this run, and if you want to, you could post your WIP, and I'll watch it and give some feedback on it.

If I'm not mistaken, this trick is performed by pressing up+down at the same time while climbing the ladder. This trick requires that your emulator supports this buttoninput... The latest FCEU version (0.98.15-nitsuja) does support this.

Very good job, adelikat and Guybrush! I found this movie very entertaining, and it looked very optimized too. So great job to both of you, can't find anything to complaing about at all. Voting Yes. :)

Oh right, thanks for pointing that out MattyXB, I missed that. :) I could probably replay the movie from there, unless someone wants to help me hex-edit it in, because I have no clue about hex-editing. :P The room that I know is improvable is the room i visit around 2:01 in Exim's avi, while he exits that room in like 7 frames or something, i take around 20 frames or so... I'm just guessing here, but I know I'm a little slower. It's no biggy though, but it would be nice if someone could hex-edit it. But I won't redo the movie from that point or anything like that. Anyway, big thanks for watching the movie and for your comments, I'm glad you liked it! :) But be careful when comparing times between that run and Exim's, even though my movie is faster in gameplay, the ROM-switch makes for quite a lot of time too. In gameplay time, my movie is probably around 8 seconds faster than Exim's.

Oh, well thank you! :) I have noticed a few minor mistakes in it that cost me ~20 frames in total, but overall I think it's quite good too. It means a lot that you like it, but if you have ways to improve it, then go right ahead... If anyone else who reads this has watched my U run, please tell me what you think, and if I should submit it...

Hi flagitious. It is true as Guybrush said that I have a WIP of the (E) version of this game, as well as a full run of the (U) version. I don't intend to submit the (U) run, and I won't likely ever finish the (E) run either, so I leave this game to you and wish you the best of luck! :) Here, I'll upload my runs: The E WIP The full run of the U version I don't believe that the "B S" cheat is allowed, although you would need to ask Bisqwit about that, I guess... And this game does indeed only accept input every other frame. Bisqwit stronly recommended to me to use the E ROM, by the way, if you don't have a good reason to switch ROMs. Hmm, other than that, I don't have much else to say. I hope my fcm:s help out some to you. And I wish you good luck on this! :)

Hey Tailz. Just watched your WIP now (yeah I know, it took me a few days...) and it still looks very good. :) I'm also bumping this to see if you've made any more progress?

Hahaha, really great! ;) The last stage looked really cool, the background couldn't keep up with you. I'm totally voting yes on this, not that it really matters... Anyway, super good job! :)

Hmm, i know that one should never judge a movie by its rerecord-count... but isn't 222 rerecords for a ~50 minute movie a little too little? Unless this game is super straightforward and supereasy to frameperfect, I don't see how you could perform a "perfect play" with so few rerecords... I won't vote on this yet though, because I haven't watched it.

Yeah, I watched this little beauty yesterday. Truly amazing job, you guys! I have been following the progress in the forum some too, and it's really great that this movie finally came out. :) Thumbs up! You beat the 1h 45min barrier. :)

Then I remembered, he has AMNESIA
Dude, he had totally been injected with something in Deja Vu 1, some bad drug or something. So it's not normal amnesia. :P Although I do think that he should stop making enemies all over USA, it's not good for him. Thanks for the Yes vote, btw. :)

you are going to have to one day explain how you recorded a run of a GBC game with FCEU ;)
Haha, doing a GBC run with FCEU is quite trivial actually, just rename the ROM to .nes instead of .gbc, and voila! ;) But on a more serious note, I think I'll just change that in the author's comments now. And thank you very much for your vote FreshFeeling. :) I had almost forgotten about this run completely... I believe it to be well played, although the game doesn't seem very popular. We'll just have to see what other people think about it.

Really nice movie Vatchern, it was entertaining throughout the whole movie. And it was pretty cool that he could turn into a dragon too. ;) Voting Yes!
