Allright, first WIP for hard mode is now done. So far only first level is completed. Currently 148 frames faster than Nightcom and 4980 higher score... Most time that was saved in the previous movie was on the third boss, so don't expect any major improvements in time for the first levels. :) Here's the movie My score on hard mode was a little lower than on normal, but timewise they were pretty much equivalent, I think this hard mode run is about 20 frames slower.

Allrighty, I'll redo it and make a hard mode run then. I'll get a new WIP up as soon as I can.

Yeah, I just don't want to get it rejected because it doesn't play on hard =/ But as you said Walker, since the previous movie plays on Normal this should probably do so too. Once again, if anyone knows what differences there are between normal and hard on this game, I would really like to know ;) There isn't any guide on GameFaqs that tells the differences... And don't worry if you haven't played the game, this game is really, really simple so you don't have to have played it to enjoy the movie. It's just your ordinary shooter. :)

There is already a published movie played on normal skill, here: http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?id=188 If you think I should redo it and play on hard, I guess I could, but I still have no idea what differences that makes :) There are neither more or less enemies and I didn't notice that the enemies were any more difficut. But I guess I could make it on HARD, I just thought that since the current movie plays on NORMAL that this movie should too.

No, his movie also plays on NORMAL difficulty.

I've been working some on a Wild Guns run, and so far I think it's looking pretty good. The goal is not to complete the game as fast as theoretically possible, since a run like that would get pretty boring because you would have no time to pick up bonuses or anything like that. If my run would only aim for time and not entertainment, I'm guessing it might be 5 seconds faster or so, so I don't think it's a huge deal. The run I'm making focuses on being entertaining while completing the game pretty fast without loosing entertainment. So far no there are no missed shots, even if some of them might look like it. Watch it at 6% speed and you'll see that all shots hit. ;) So far I'm about 18 seconds ahead of Nightcom's run, and my score is 15 860 higher, mainly because I destroy more things like tables and doors. This game can be played at HARD difficulty, but I have no idea what the differences are. I tried doing a run on HARD, but I didn't think it looked as entertaining as it did on NORMAL difficulty, so I think I'll stick with NORMAL. If anyone knows what the differences are, please let me know. Here is what I have done so far. Any thoughts or comments about the run so far? Or any interest at all? :)

Doesn't both time, mass and distance change quite drastically for an object moving at great speeds? With these variables in mind, as well as all the other stuff, makes this problem quite difficult ;) It seems to me like there are many variables to keep in mind. I will be interested to see the solution to this! PS: I would never have guessed that I was right when I said 250 m! ;)

Randil, same as DKC3, world 1 & 2 every level have warp-barrel :)
Okay, are there any W-barrells in any of the other levels outside world 1 & 2? I want to see you play a few levels without using W-barrels, you know :)

Just watched what you've done so far Sami, and it looks really good. I had no idea there were so many shortcuts in all those stages. Looking forward to the next WIP. :)

Crap, I fail at math and physics :) Well, I'll let one of you guys try to solve this, this was way harder than I first thought. Good luck!

I'm probably doing this all wrong, but here's what I've come up with: The earth's surface area is about 5,1*10^8 square km. With 2 billion households with a child, this gives us about 4 children per square km. The distance between each household should be about 250 m (I'm really not sure if this is right, how do you measure the medium distance on a surface area if you know how many elements there are?). 250 m between every household and 2 billion households, he must travel about 500 billion meters. He has 31 hours to do this, so he must travel at a constant speed of about 4,48 * 10^6 m/s. I'm to tired to continue this as of now, but if no one points out that I'm way off, I'll continue these calculations tomorrow :) What I'm least sure of is whether or not the distance between each household is 250 m...

Hey there irulewithmoles. Here's a thread where G.I.Joe has already been discussed. Seems Ferret Warlord was working on it, but he's away now and the topic seems to have been down for a year, so it seems fair that someone can take up his work. :) As for Transformers, I would like to see a TAS of that game, just for the fact that it's so crazy hard! I'm lucky I played it on emulator with savestates, but even so I only got to level 9, after that it just looped over and over again, I still have no idea how to beat level 9 as of now :( I thought the game was really bad though, so there are better games to pick if for a TAS I think. I would be glad if you were to give one of these games a try, I know it's hard to get how some stuff work with the emulator, but you can PM me if you have any questions about how something works, or you could look it up in the emulator's FAQ. Should you decide to give one of these games a go, I wish you good luck! :)

This is really off-topic, but how did you become a "user3", scubed? :) I've heard of many "user" in this community, but no "user3", does this make you 3 times the regular user or something? ;) EDIT: Hmm, just noticed that there are many other who are now a "user3"... I'm really confused here... :) What's up with this user3?

Entertaining to watch, except for the pizza parts, and played precisely. Voting Yes. :)

I finally had time to watch your full movie now Sami, and since I've commented on your WIPs I think you already know what I'm gonna vote :) Definite Yes on this, very entertaining movie. I'm looking forward to your DKC 2 run now.

And don't you have a Team contest to worry about? I'm not sure which route we should take and not sure if all the levels must be beaten to finish the game. I'm waiting for you to finish the contest before doing anything with this ;)
Okay, thanks ;) it would ease up on me a lot, plus that I have a big mathtest on friday too, so that's very appreciated. :) I suggest you play through the game at least once before continuing, that way you can see how the following levels will look.

Looked good! Just one question: Around frame 3800 or something you throw your shield on an enemy, is there no faster way of killing him, like landing on him with your shield or kicking him in the face? :) Sorry for not being very active with this for the last days, but I have a lot of things on my mind now. But do you want me to do level 3, or do you want to have a go at it? :)

Here's level 1 done 186 frames faster: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/637/cap_america_randil1.fcm The reason it's faster is mainly because I dash more and jump less ;) Another reason is that when you are to kill an enemy by landing on him with your shield, you only have to put down your shield for one frame to kill him, after that you can continue falling forward. I'll do some route thinking too, soon. Hope this helped out. :)

You choose the game ;)
Allrighty then. I would prefer if we go with Captain America, at least for the moment. Maybe we found out later on that it's not suited for a TAS, but I think we should stick with that for now. Plus the fact that this way Walker Boh can do his own improvement of this TAS, as he said he would do eventually. So I vote for Captain America! :)

Your new WIP looks good so far. Some math gives that since you were 158 frames faster on the startmenu you are 22 frames ahead in game, if I'm not getting things wrong here...

I hope Randil can make boss fights fast.
Is that some sort of hint? :) If you're asking me to do the boss fights, I guess I could give it a try. But as I said on IRC, don't expect too good results on the first try, since I haven't played this game before. But I can see what I can do. However, I do think that you should choose one game to focus on. It's way to much on my shoulders (and on yours too, I believe) to work both on this and the captain america run at the same time. So choose one of the games and put 100% effort into that one, at least that's what I suggest. Not to mention that I have the Dream Team Contest to work on soon, as well as 2 half-finished runs of my own. Oh yes, and a big mathtest soon too... So I suggest you choose which run we should focus on. I'll help you out on whatever of them you choose.

I thought it was entertaining to watch and would be interested in seeing a full run. But what are the differences between this game and the game Super Spy Hunter? We already have a run of that game, but maybe they are completely different... As you said, this was only a testrun, so you are probably aware of what can be improved, such as not missing a single shot and things like that. The usual "autoscrolling TAS" rules. :) By the way, did you have any luck with manipulating luck by firing shots randomly? This is probably a question that's difficult to fully answer, but have you tested what factors that can speed this run up? I mean, sometimes you loose some speed if you turn, or maybe you slow down slightly when firing a shot. If there's nothing in a level that neither speeds you up or slows you down, you might as well go for 100% entertainment. And last, your link doesn't work if you click on it, you have to copy-paste it and open it in the address-window. Perhaps you could rename it to get rid of the " " in the filename. Or you could upload it on DeHacked's microstorage. Other than that, I wish you good luck! I'm not familiar with this game, but it looked interesting. How long do you think a full run would be? I should probably watch the Super Spy Hunter movie too. :)

Mega Man X TAS are really a pleasure to see, and you seem to have mastered these games to the fullest. Now I can only wait for a new Mega Man X TAS! ;) Oh yes, the movie. Simply amazing work, but you already knew this. Voting Yes, of course. :)

I watched this now, and for some reason it reminded me a lot of the previous run. ;) I'm voting Yes on this. It's done by the same author as the currently published movie, and it's slightly faster, so why not. Good job, Vatchern. :) And I don't want to see any more 5 frames improvements of this TAS again! ;)

Haha, and I who thought this game was already pushed to the limits. I'll watch this sometime later today or tomorrow. One thing I recommend is that you write some more in the authors comments, they seem a little too short if you ask me... The usual stuff like what emulator you used and so.
