Trivial, it means "merry christmas and a happy new year", or something like that. At least I think it's a good guess. :) Islandish (I have no idea if it's called that in English) is kind of similiar to Swedish in a way, actually.

Aah you're probably right, Bag. It's probably Portugese now that I think about it. I don't know a smack of that, so that would make more sense.

Umm, my Spanish is really crappy, but isn't "merry christmas" supposed to be "feliz navidad" or something like that? what's "feliz natal" in that case? I was thinking that "feliz natal" meant something like "good night"... But as I said, my spanish is crappy, so I'm probably way off here :)

Hehe, I'm not even gonna try to pronounce that, Shinryuu :) In Swedish, "merry christmas" is "God jul". So go say that to all of your friends now, I take for granted that all of you know how to pronounce it ;) Så god jul på er!

Hehe, maybe I should show my English-teacher my posts in this forum. Or maybe not, I don't want to look geeky for hanging around in a TAS-forum ;) Plus the fact that I have only mathlessons in school and don't read English anymore... But hey, thanks anyway :)

Good to see someone is working on this again. I made a short movie myself some time ago, it only plays the first 6 levels I think, and it's a little faster than Guybrush run, not much though. I don't intend to finish it or anything (mainly because I don't know the route ;) ), but you should compare your run with this one, and make sure that you do all those rooms at least equally fast. Here's the run

*Pokes Tailz* Hey Tailz, how's this going? It would be nice to see this run finished for christmas, so I hope you're finished by then. It would be a nice christmaspresent :) Good luck!

How can you TAS using only 1 savestate slot?
Hehe, I don't. :) I agree it's a pain to switch using "increase/decrease savestate number" so to be more precise, the R2 button is bound to "save state as..." and by clicking on, say, 5 on the keyboard, R2 saves to savestate 5. So I don't really use the the increase/decrease savestate number command. The same thing goes for the "load state"-bound L2 button: it's bound to "load state from..." and I can choose which savestate by clicking on the numbers on the keyboard.

Good job, Sami! Very entertaining run, keep it up. :) Maybe you could post a savestate from where your previous WIP ended, so us viewers who watched the latest WIP don't need to fastforward through so much. How many levels do you have left now?

I used the keyboard before. but then I got me this really great gamepad on which you could set up keyboard commands to the gamepadbuttons. The gamepad looks almost exactly like a Playstation gamepad, and I've assigned load state for L2 button, save state for R2, pause game for R1 and frame advance for L1. This works really good in my opinion. And I have set up the A and B turbo buttons for the circle and triangle buttons. So I can really recommend for all of you to get yourselves on of these gamepads, they do wonders with at least platformgames. :)

As usual, very good job Tailz. I hope you complete the remaining two levels soon so we can start voting YES on this! ;) And for those who don't know how to load the savestate, press "File", then press "Load State From" and choose the savestate "Amagon1.fc0". And you don't have to put .fc0 after the filename when naming it for the download, FCEU automatically detects it as a savestate.

Can you put link where you get that rom?
I don't think it's okay to link to site with ROMs in this forum. I know Bisqwit doesn't like that, so if you want to find the ROM you would have to find it yourself, sorry...

If I renamed the savestate and took out the (U), would it still work?
Yes, I'm sure it would. Try to rename it to just "Amagon1.fc0" or something like that, and upload it again. SXL's URL seems to work too, if you sopypaste it and put it in the addresswindow. It does not work by clicking on the link.

Hey Guybrush. how's this run going? I found out a little trick/glitch for when you're riding down that long elevator in the beginning of the level. Look at this short movie and you'll see what I mean: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/527/elevator_action_trick.fcm I managed to pull this off on floors 30, 24 and 22. It doesn't save any time or anything, I just thought it looked cool. It's pulled off by jumping out of the elevator at a certain time, and on the same frame that you are outside the elevator, you turn back and get pushed into it again, kinda like how you get off the elevator before reaching the first red door. Well, good luck with the rest of the movie! :)

Good job on those levels, Tailz! I'm starting to like this movie more and more. If anyone wants to download the savestate, don't clicko n the link, mark the whole name (http://impact.megarpg.net/Amagon (U).fc0) and copypaste it to the address-window. Maybe you should name the savestate to Amagon_(U).fc0 so that the URL starts working, I don't think this forum accepts " " in URL:s... And I can answer your question, Rusty. When he walks to the far edge of a height, he gets slightly pushed forward a few pixels, you can actually see this if you look carefully. This is abused quite a lot, and because it's faster than jumping off stuff earlier, that's the way it's done.

Thanks for all the complements, everyone! :) IdeaMagnate wrote
It seems like there are parts that could be a little faster
Actually, some parts in level 1 and 2 could perhaps be done faster. On some ladders there I don't go out to the edge of the ladder before falling down, since I found this trick later on in the movie. This saves about 4-5 frames per ladder. The reason why I didn't redo level 1 and 2 with this trick was that even if I save 5 frames on a ladder, I would just have to wait 5 more frames in front of a volcano, since the volcanoes timings cannot be manipulted. So even though some minor stuff could be done faster, this would not affect the length of the movie, and only a very trained eye would notice these small flaws in level 1 and 2 :). If there was a specific part that you found, IdeaMagnate, tell me which and I'll look into it, there is a chance that I've missed something.

Out of curiosity, wouldn't it be possibly to plug your computer to the TV via S-video or something, replay a movie file in a emulator in fullscreen while recording what's shown on the TV to VHS, and claim that what's on the VHS was recorded from console? Or is it a way of seeing that what you have on VHS really is from console and not from computer? If you can record runs from emulator to VHS, wouldn't it be a simple thing to submit such a VHS to Speeddemosarchive and claim it's a legit console speedrun? I don't know if what I said is even possible, but I'm just wondering :)

For my team I suggest the name "Onward! Defrosted tuna team!" :) Those who have played Star Ocean: Till the end of time maybe recognizes this name. Or does anyone else in my team have another idea for a name?

I want to begin with pointing out that I haven't played this game, so that may affect this vote. Those who have played this game might find this more interesting. I'm voting Meh on this. Here's what I thought was good in this movie: 1. Menus were handled really fast. 2. Boss fights looked good. 3. No obvious mistakes or waiting periods. But the thing is, I found this movie plain boring to watch. I fast-forwarded through most of it, since it often involved a 30-second period of walking, without anything happening. As I saw it, about 75% of this movie was just watching you walk forward without anything happening. Not very exciting... I didn't quite get the story either, as I understood it, you walk a while, enter a house and do something there (I have no idea what happened in there), walk some more, fall down a well and supposedely learn some fly spell, walk some more, learn some new spell, fight some boss etc. So to put things short, I believe this movie is almost as fast as possible, but I really didn't like the fact that there was so much boring walking in it. So good job, but I thought it was a bad game-choise. This might just be my opinion on this, though, I believe someone who has played this game will like it a little more.

Looks good so far, Arne_the_great! You rolled really fast with Diddy on jungle hijinx, I almost couldn't keep up. I recommend that you post your movie-files here though: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php I used Silentwhisper a lot before, but since you have to zip your files to upload them there first, I started using DeHacked's microstorage. No big deal though, it's just a little more convenient. And if anyone has trouble finding the right ROM, the version of the game is 1.0, so the ROM "Donkey kong country (U) (V1.0) [!]" should work good with this movie, I haven't tried 1.1 or 1.2 yet, maybe they work too. But it was a very good start with this movie, keep it up!

Good job! The jungle-areas were very entertaing, since there were so many enemies to shoot. I especially like dit how you handled the swarms of dragonflies that flew towards you :) How much of the game do you have left now, Tailz?
