It's kinda of a trade off, in comparison to Ace Combat Zero, which has zero set time sequences, but I found the story to be fairly weak in comparison to AC04. I don't know why, but most of the sequences, despite their length, are kinda fun, especially Shattered Skies (#08)
I personally don't watch the PC games, partially because I don't play too many and partially because I find them considerably less interesting than console games, since there are (generally) more loading screens*. I tried watching KOTOR I believe it was and it was 5 seconds of play, followed by 20 seconds of load time, repeat over and over. THAT was boring.
*Yes, I realize console games today have loading screens, but most of the stuff I do are on older systems that didn't have that type of problem.
If you want to see entertainment in a potentially boring speed run, go watch Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies. I say potentially boring because there are a lot of sections of the game that are timed sequences, which (at least on very easy) have a very easy score to acquire. Scores were gotten early and the run could have just gone around in circles, but they kept going - aiming for a high score, continuing to blow up stuff and just generally trying to entertain.
On the other side, there was an interesting thread about "ADHD syndrome" in some speed runs. Read it to get the opposite perspective of things.
Notice that NESVideoAgent renamed the ROM listing. This is part of the continuing issue that the video file doesn't store full CRC codes to properly indicate which version of the ROM it is.
If you have uTorrent, here's how it works.
1: Stop torrent.
2. Move AVI.
3; Right click on torrent, select Advanced / Set Download Location
4: Select the folder that now holds the AVI.
5: Restart torrent.
The new SMB run is perfectly fine. The issue has to be computer related - probably too much stuff running at once for your computer to handle video decoding.
Dr. Wily Stage 1
For the boss i found the key route so i was able to get that elevator to spawn so fast as possible and shoot every time as possible.
Is that why you jumped high into the door before you entered the boss room?
Dr. Wily Stage 3
Found a technique that saves a lot of time in the boss re-fights. I Changed my weapon after i defeated the boss because i realized that it tooks much more time to change your weapon outside of the bossroom sometimes.
You did that on all bosses, except between Centaurman and Windman. For Windman, you changed weapons at him, instead of at the defeat of the prior boss (Centaurman). Curious as to why?
And a breakable wall which was on the way to Area 4: Moustard Mountain in USA and European version isn't there yet.
I know what wall he's referring to now, and going back and playing the game again in the Japanese version, that wall IS there. He just got lucky and Green Kirby was in the room, and he destroyed the wall before the runner got there.
Mystery of the non-existent wall solved.
Nintendo had weird censorship policies in the old days. The strangest was the removal of religious references.
Then came ActRaiser, which the sole point of the game IS religion! So you're not God, you're "The Master". You're not fighting Satan, you're fighting Tanzara. But yes, even with all that, the overall theme is still there...and the game is so saturated that the censorship almost comes off as funny.
ActRaiser 2 is just as bad, since it's based off of the 7 great sins, and if I recall correctly, is based off of the book Paradise Lost (which for those that don't know, Paradise Lost is a religious story about the great war between God and Satan).
BTW, this is also why Final Fantasy doesn't have the spell Holy - it's While or Pearl.
Censorship sucks. Really.
However, it seems to be a emulator-related glitch. The trick either does not work on a console or there are almost no such cartridges.
For anybody that owns a MMX/RMX cartridge, there's a way to easily check to see whether it's a v1.0 or v1.1. On the back of the cart is an imprint that'll have 2 numbers. If those are followed by an A, it's v1.1. The lack of a letter indicates v1.0.
I'm sure the encoder likely just forgot to check the "hide SGB border" box when starting the video.
But I'm sure it doesn't add THAT much space to the video, since the border (after the initial few seconds) is a static image, AVI encoding should pick up on that and not need much space to encode that. But that's just a guess, and based upon my knowledge of GIF compression, to be frank.
What the hell?! This was published too quickly! I didn't have a chance to watch it and vote on it. I didn't get to watch it and point out all the mistakes and be a total douchebag!
My apologies. I'll make sure that next time I submit a run, that I burn a copy on CD and mail you the files via overnight delivery via a man who rides a cheetah for a living. That should give you PLENTY of time to watch the awesomeness.
FORGIVE ME PLEASE OH GREAT SUCKA OF ALL THAT IS GOOD!
I pity the foo' who doesn't understand sarcasm.
It's called "evaluating and checking for potential mistakes."
Look at, say, the recent Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance. Good thing with didn't publish THAT in 5 minutes, now...did we? There were mistakes and about .23 seconds were saved.
If it was published, and then 5 seconds later an improvement was posted...wouldn't that be a bit foolish?

Also guys, don't forget how things used to be before adelikat jumped into publishing. It will keep things in perspective.
I've said it before; perhaps instead of "favoritism first", runs should sit in the queue for a minimum of a week and a maximum of two weeks (for runs not getting enough attention in the queue), instead of "Ooh ooh this is an awesome run let's publish it before most people even have a chance to view the submission"
At least this would bring a little bit of a standardized practice into things...
...
And yes, I'm well aware that before, runs used to sit in the queue for months on end. The problem still exists; just now, it's the opposite extreme.
I support this statement. It's no longer about my run, but about basic principles.
(And yes, I do realize I can watch it now. But frankly, it would be nice to have had a chance to evaluate it. No, I couldn't do it yesterday because some of us like...have a life.)
I mean, it's great and all that he published this one quickly, being it's a great run and all. But there's ones that have been sitting in the accepted queue for a month and haven't been published, and this didn't even take 2 days from submission to publication.
Just saying...
