There must be some way to determine it. How else would torrent sites figure out your dl/ul ratio?
They determine it typically by sticking in an ID code at the end of the torrent. This is tied into your account, so they can match your torrent usage to your ratio.

Something that everybody wanted I'm finally getting off my duff and working on. Akumajou Special - Boku Dracula-kun (aka Kid Dracula). I'm using the Japanese version because the title loads faster and I noticed a few enemies take fewer hits to kill. Above I've posted my WIP1, which is Stage 1 completed in full. Comments welcome, suggestions are nice, but please be nice...I'm still a rookie to TASing. A few notes so far: Section 1 I jump over both zombies because it takes longer to kill (the 3rd I can kill by shooting without jumping which doesn't cost time). While I can fire while jumping to kill the first one, it throws off my timing on the spikes, costing me a few frames. Section 2 I pause to avoid the spear because it seemed to cost me more time to take the hit than to wait. I didn't try a power shot, but given it takes some time to charge, I don't think it would be beneficial. I may try later (unless somebody else tries for me). Section 5 I have to wait for the zombie to move out of the way before climbing the ladder. Section 6 Faster to take the hit over trying to kill the Frankenstein Section 8 NAZI GHOSTS. WOOO. The 3rd you can't damage, you only need to dodge it. Probably not the most exciting battle, but I hope it was somewhat enjoyable... ---- WIP2 This new WIP now completes the first two levels. Possible improvements: Cut out some of the select switching, as I didn't need the Bat Boomerang in the vine section (I managed to get around it). Notes: The first vertical falling log I can't jump any sooner. The 2nd I somehow missed (gotta love crappy hit detection). Boss fight was awesome. JASONNNNN. ...still wanting to hear from you guys on anything I might have missed. Pretty please?

This game sucks and you make a nice mockery of it. Great work.

What I'd rather see is a Boss Rush run on Hard using Simon Belmont. THAT would be interesting.

Give me a location area as reference. I own the game and could do some test videos if I have time.

in Canada, you can't set fire to the wooden leg of a wooden-legged man.
Uh, that's not a crappy law. That's called assault.

And besides, if you want to send us a video later that you want to be generous and have us start from a certain spot, you can always include a save state (not on dehacked's page, but you could always use sendspace or something).

Oh, ok. Uh, how do you connect videos? By hex-editing? I don't want to be sending the same video over and over, whenever I want to show you guys some part/level. I also don't want to do it in parts, when it should be done whole.
You simply load the video NOT in read-only mode, then load a save state to where you want to continue from and you'll pick up recording from where you loaded the save state.

being sexually aroused in public could get you arrested in Indiana
Yeah, the full text of the law is:
IC 35-45-4 Chapter 4. Indecent Acts and Prostitution IC 35-45-4-1 Sec. 1. (a) A person who knowingly or intentionally, in a public place: (1) engages in sexual intercourse; (2) engages in deviate sexual conduct; (3) appears in a state of nudity; or (4) fondles the person's genitals or the genitals of another person; commits public indecency, a Class A misdemeanor. However, the offense is a Class D felony if the person commits the offense by appearing in the state of nudity with the intent to arouse the sexual desires of the person or another person in or on a public place where a child less than sixteen (16) years of age is present. (b) "Nudity" means the showing of the human male or female genitals, pubic area, or buttocks with less than a fully opaque covering, the showing of the female breast with less than a fully opaque covering of any part of the nipple, or the showing of covered male genitals in a discernibly turgid state. (c) A person who, in a place other than a public place, with the intent to be seen by persons other than invitees and occupants of that place: (1) engages in sexual intercourse; (2) engages in deviate sexual conduct; or (3) fondles the person's genitals or the genitals of another person; where the person can be seen by persons other than invitees and occupants of that place commits indecent exposure, a Class C misdemeanor. As added by Acts 1976, P.L.148, SEC.5. Amended by Acts 1977, P.L.340, SEC.76; P.L.189-1984, SEC.1; P.L.215-1997, SEC.1.
--- I always loved this MN law:
609.725 Vagrancy. Any of the following are vagrants and are guilty of a misdemeanor: (1) A person, with ability to work, who is without lawful means of support, does not seek employment, and is not under 18 years of age; or (2) A person found in or loitering near any structure, vehicle, or private grounds who is there without the consent of the owner and is unable to account for being there; or (3) A prostitute who loiters on the streets or in a public place or in a place open to the public with intent to solicit for immoral purposes; or (4) A person who derives support in whole or in part from begging or as a fortune teller or similar impostor.

Oh, shoot! I just remembered. How do you fix desyncing? Every movie I play desyncs. Most movies I made don't desync, except maybe this one, since the tiles are always random when I start a level. If this problem can't be fixed, I can't do the run. >_< - Uh, should I input the "BALL" password? I don't know if it will help in VS. mode.
Actually, for the VS mode you need to press Up + L on the mode selection while Hard is highlighted to get Extra Hard difficulty.

Now we need a lego robot that can use a normal NES controller ... and one faster than ROB We could call it TASROB... it would also have to turn the power on. Then maybe we could see if the TASes would really work on a real NES? Actually a robot probably wouldn't push the buttons with enough precision. Maybe some sort of USB controlled device that would mimic controller output directly and precisely. And that had precise control of the power and reset buttons. Yeah, i'll get right to work on that... next tuesday... mumble mumble or something. ;)
If that happened, just imagine the reactions over at SDA. Some games would be too easy to tell, but I imagine a game like Super Mario Bros would be very hard to tell, unless you did some really screwy stuff.

How about you do what the latest speedrun did and do a vs mode on very hard? See how fast you could beat all 12 CPU players? That I would like to see.

I think I spent 99% of the movie purely saying WTF?! The knife glitch and the "underwater" jumping physics were golden. However I must vote no because the first part of the game didn't make me go WTF enough. Needs more glitches. Needs more WTF moments. 99% isn't good enough!!!!1111onetyone In case you didn't figure it out, that last paragraph was pure sarcasm. I voted yes, of course.

I still wonder if Ridley before Kraid is faster, since you cut out that one tremendously long cutscene. It might not affect in-game time, but it affects real-time. Outside of that concern, the run looks great.

Watching this one, I'm just wondering where the memory block containing those destroyable bricks is, and how exactly the game initializes that memory. I'm wondering if the bricks are indeed initialized by the game filling up the memory, the GB Bios doing it, or the emulator filling it up. I think the memory block containing all that stuff may be in the SRAM area, and the bottom area with the Next Level tile might even be the Z80 stack! I bet predefined save games would mess all that stuff up. Or worse yet, Mario spin jumps on bricks that are actually your save data, and destroys it! Voted Meh, too much walking back to pumpkin zone.
Likely it's a mishmash of data pulled from the ROM into temporary memory, so that when the breakable block is broken, that temporary memory is changed always to "broken", which is why the blocks are never regenerated. But that's just a strange thought.

Voting yes on the idea that this run does NOT obsolete a "properly played" run. Kinda like having that Pulseman "low glitch" run done, except this is the opposite.

Actually I found the Owl, Coo to be my favorite part of the run, and kept an already long run from getting too long. The route seemed spot on and found it funny that Rick is not used at all, though I suppose he's just too damn slow. Overall, well played and entertaining.
It's not so much that he's too slow, it's that HE CAN'T DO ANYTHING. It would be more beneficial if there were long vertical sections, since he climbs the walls, but outside of that, he sucks.

I haven't played around with 1.51 at all, so I can't make an honest comparison. But I might have to just to see for myself a comparison.
