Ok, Im up for the task. Since Boco is working on Zelda 2, and the game doesnt work for me, Ill do Zelda 1. Once I finish Kid Icarus(before the weekend), Ill get to work and shoot for under 30:00, if possible.

In the recording, yes, I jump on the elev, but off the recording, I tried countless times walking and it didnt work. However, just now, I tried something a little different. I went out of the cave, came back in and tried walking passed the elev, and it worked! For some reason, it doesnt work when I resume from my recording in the cave or when I load save state by the elevator. You are right though, thanks. Thing is, after going into the next cave(the one with the first axe thrower), I tried doing a jump and famtasia froze again. I can cut down on the jumping for the rest of the caves, but my biggest concern is a problem like this happening down the road that cant be fixed. I just may start again after Kid Icarus is done.

I know it doesn't work in caves or on the big >bridge (which is counted as a cave, because the entrance and exit >aren't the same square). Not 100% sure. I know it cant be done with caves because they have a seperate exit. But yes, the 1 tile bridge can be skipped and I have done it with the original nes cartridge.

I wrote in "My 3 for this week": Zelda 2 - Giving up on this. Still cant get Link on the elevator without Famtasia messing up. I tried checking the "support undocumented opcode" option in the property menu, and now, instead of giving me a popup error message, Famtasia just does a regular freeze up. This is the elevator in Death Mountain btw. And yes, this is when I "walk" onto the elevator. If anyone wanted to do Zelda 2, and it works fine for you, feel free to do it. Actually, the real problem is getting to the other side of the elevator. I can get ON the elevator just fine and go up or down, but when I move anywhere near the opposite side, the problem happens. I even tried using the speed glitch to zoom past it, but no success. Maybe you are using a different version of Zelda 2, but Ive tried several things over a hundred times and I just cant get it to work. If I could, I would have finished it a long time ago. Boco is working on Link no Bouken and it seems to work just fine. However, I want to finish The Adventures of Link.

http://members.shaw.ca/richu/unfinished/Sleepz-ZELDA2.zip Zelda 2 - This video will freeze at 5:45 when I get on the elevator. *Note: The bridge beside Saria Town can be skipped. Just couldnt get the enemy to cooperate. http://members.shaw.ca/richu/unfinished/Sleepz-metalgear.zip Metal Gear - Im quitting this one because I dont think it be very interesting to watch. Time stops at 11:00, halfway through the game. What still needs to be done: -rescue the 3 hostages on floor 2, building 1 -rescue 1 hostage from building 3 -kill Arnold for card #7 -kill Coward duck for card #8 -enter building 4 and finish game I also received a couple of requests for my version of Kid Icarus, so Ill be finishing it instead of posting it here.

>Oh, is there a Heart Container limit for Downstab or Upthrust? And is >there ever a situation where Jump can't be substituted for Upthrust >(getting it would take about 30 seconds extra)? As I recall, the only requirement for getting the up and down stabs is the jump spell so you can get into the house. Downward thrust is a definite time saver, but Upward thrust is really useless. There are one or two keys in the game that require you to break blocks upward to get. However, there are still ways to get them without using up thrust, plus you are going to skip getting the keys anyways. >Also, what do you suggest about Maze Island? Should I grab the Magic >Container, grab the Boots, grab the Child, get Reflect, kill Carock? Or is >there a quicker way? You will need to grab all 4 magic containers anyways. Plus, you need to grab both the 3rd magic container and the Child before the old man forks over Reflect spell, which you need to kill the boss. You do need the boots to get to 5th Palace. Ill post my video in the Game Movie Making forum.

You might want to try my route since it should be faster. I can show you my fmv if you want. I dont mind since I cant finish it anyway: 1. North Palace 2. Magic Container 1 3. Statue(Trophy) 4. Ruto Town(Jump Spell) 5. Ruto Cave 6. Bagu's House 7. Saria Town(Skip Life Spell) 8. Death Mountain(Hammer and Magic Container 2) 9. Medicine(Water of Life) 10. Mido Town(Fairy Spell and Downward Thrust) 11. Parapa Palace(Skip Candle) 12. Swamp Palace 13. Island Palace With this route, you should have the Hammer at around 7:00, Fairy Spell and Downward Thrust at 9:00-10:00. Also: 1. You can use the fairy spell instead of wasting time getting any of the keys. 2. You can use downward thrust to get past certain enemies without pausing, and finish the bosses faster. 3. You will have high levels by the time you start the first palace. I also recommend skipping the Candle since this is a time attack. 1:30 is a lot of time wasted. If someone else did the exact same run, but without getting the candle, they would beat your time by around 1:30. You should also skip the Cross. As for magic, you do need to collect all 4 magic containers to get Thunder. The only concern you should have is having enough magic left to cast jump after using thunder on Thunderbird(Angel). It takes a lot of time to beat it if you dont. For fairy spell, you can always get one of the enemies to drop a magic refill in the next screen with re-record. This is my strategy for AoL. You might want to change the strategy around a bit for LnB since it lets you level up ridiculously fast.

Batman - Probably wouldnt be very interesting IMO Battle of Olympus - Messed up with Famtasia. Kabuki Quantum Fighter - Great game. I think a few people are doing this one already. TMNT - Had up to level 3 done but kept putting it on hold. If it does freeze later like you say, then I guess I wont finish it. Id like to see it finished though. Totally Rad - Good game, not as popular as it should be. Yo! Noid - Another good game. Zelda 2 - I had a nicely planned run for this game, but the game wouldnt let me finish it. (Hasnt anyone here tried using the elevator in death mountain? You will get an error). Dunno about the japanese version though. Havent seen anyone do a complete run yet. The games I would most like to see from the list: TMNT or any of the Wizards & Warriors. The games I would most like to see that are not on the list: Castlevania 3, Samurai Pizza Cats, Athena, Bubble Bobble. However, none of these work with Famtasia. Btw, would anyone like to see a Metal Gear time attack? Still thinking about this one.

Not really any new glitches, but several changes in strategy: -Used the tag team of just Toad and Luigi. -The major time saver was using Toad. Toad runs much faster while hes holding an enemy. He also picks up and throws much faster. My original intention was to make a "Toad only" run. -For 1-1, I found that the old waterfall shortcut was about 4 seconds faster than climbing all those vines. -Used Toad for 1-2. I did it just to show that Toad can do this level fast as well. Suprisingly, Toad finished this level faster than Luigi or Princess. -Finished all the bosses much faster. -Made time improvements from Genistos run on all levels except 7-1(hate this level), which we tied. Thats about it. I managed to get the time down to 8:43. Tried my hardest to get POW blocks or Starmans to the bosses, but couldnt pull it off.

Finished Super Mario 2 at 8:44. Just re-doing the last level to get in an extra second. I wont have time to finish Tiny Toons until the weekend. Not sure how long the last few levels will take so I cant compare times. We'll see when I finish. [Edit by Bisqwit - moved this thread to the games forum...]

Well, ok. Since you really wanted to do Kid Icarus, you can have just yours posted up, although I may still finish mine sometime in the future. Just to let you know, the game does count the experience you get on the last level, but you wont receive this experience until the game is finished and you start on world 1-1 again. Thats why after finishing the game and starting on the first level, you can usually receive a strength upgrade from the first room you come across right away. Ill just go back to finishing my other 2 videos and Im also plotting the fastest route through Metal Gear. Dunno if it will make an interesting run or how long the run through will take. Still filtering out all the junk I dont need to get.

Well, Im at the beginning of World 3 right now. I can always speed things up. However, mine is just a straight through time attack while Bob's is a 100% run. Which do you prefer to see?

This week: Tiny Toons - Just about done. Mario 2 - Half way through the game, and Im up by 13 seconds. Zelda 2 - Giving up on this. Still cant get Link on the elevator without Famtasia messing up. This is the elevator in Death Mountain btw. And yes, this is when I "walk" onto the elevator. If anyone wanted to do Zelda 2, and it works fine for you, feel free to do it. Kid Icarus - Still feel like doing this one. Dunno, we'll see.

>Ps: I just noticed that I encoded the movie with an exceptionally low bitrate. It was an accident, but hopefully nobody complains :P I think it looks just fine. I also think its a good idea since it really cuts down on the filesize of the movie, correct? >-2 points for spinning into Shadow Man's lair. I wonder if it's even possible to use that stupid Top Spin weapon without getting hit? Yes, it is. However, if you want to hit Shadow Man twice in one spin, you have to get in on him and get hit.

I can explain the above points, hope it wont be too long of a read: - Lots of unneeded energy refills were collected. A lot of the enemies kept dropping the little weapon refills and I found it unavoidable. I made sure to always slide through them so it doesnt pause my movement. - The Magnet Man level had a few places where I recall having played faster when I did it. Are you sure about that? Look at our times: Bisqwit-Magnetman(1:32): 1:24, 0:08 Sleepz-Magnetman(1:33): 1:19, 0:14 I did the level 5 sec faster, but that may be due to the use of rush jet and the faster kill of protoman. You beat me at the boss battle since I didnt have the best weapon to use on him. This level is one second slower than yours, but I average about 10-30 sec faster on all other levels. - Fire accuracy was not as careful as in Kopernical's movie, but only very little worse than in Morimoto's Rockman movie. Yea, could improve a little on the accuracy. - Lots of useless refills collected in the revisited Needleman level. Did you know that Rushjet doesn't consume energy, if you jump on it? Yes. I find that jumping while on rush slows the game down slightly, and also when you land on rush, it slows his movement for a fraction of a second. Its the same reason why I switched to rush marine instead of jet on Geminiman revisited, the game really seems to slow down when you use the jet. - One useless energy loss in the battle with Hardman. The mistake wasn't repeated in the rematch, though. Its actually faster to beat Hardman if you let him hit you since it wont freeze your movement when he hits the ground. The reason I dont take the hit on the rematch was because I was planning to take hits from Topman and Shadowman afterwards, and Hardman's dive bomb can take off around 40% of your energy. All hits I take are on purpose, not mistake. - One useless energy loss in Heatman. Heatman takes 4 hits to beat with Topspin, so usually, he will charge at you 3 times, once after every hit. However, when I did it, he only charged twice. In this battle, I take the hits in a way so I can hit him twice after his first charge and so hes not flying across the room which wastes time. I use this same technique on Topman(I land 2 hits before his first charge) and Crashman(another 2 quick hits). Once again, I take the hits on purpose. - The instant kill was nice in Rock monster, but I liked the predictive jumping style of Morimoto more than the jumping and sliding style in this movie. Well, got nothing better to do while Rock monster is putting himself together. I had a few ideas for a possibly faster run after I finished. But I probably wont start again until Im done my other recordings.

Alright, finally finished Megaman 3. I made it just under 34:00. I was hoping to reach for under 30 min, but it looks like it just cant be done. Just checking it over before I submit it. The one that Ill probably be finished next is Tiny Toons. Bob, I never really thought about which ending to get. My guess is that a straight run through of the game will take at least 25 min. Getting all the requirements for the best ending could make the video very lengthy. I know you would have to kill each set of enemies more than once.

Well I put Kid Icarus on hold so I can finish Megaman. I left off at the world 2 temple. Im not sure what you mean by just speed or 100% speed. If you mean taking no hits, my run takes no hits, but it doesnt slow me down one bit. I timed my world 1. From the start of the recording to the second I finish the world 1 boss = 6:45 flat (I used a stopwatch for this one). Let me know what your time is for world 1 so we can compare.

>I think Sleepz is doing a MM3 run as well. Yea, Im just finishing up Wily's castle. This run has been pretty frustrating with the sliding and not over-jumping so I can spend more time on the ground sliding. I also keep finding faster ways to do things so I usually have to restart the level. It will be finished either tonight or tommorow. >I saw a MM3 movie not long ago, played by Ihira, it was really impressive, almost perfect i would say You wouldnt happen to remember the time on that video, would you? Im pretty sure that mine will be the fastest, but Id like to know so I dont get burned at the end.

I just noticed that theres a workbench and off topic forum :P. I watched Dustins fmv, and I see tons of room for improvement. I agree with feitclub that it could have been much tighter. Also, I didnt like the fact that it used controller 2. Even if you did use it, it could have been used a lot more efficiently than in this recording :) . Im working on my MM3 fmv at this moment. Its MM3 and not Rockman 3 btw. Its also gonna be about 5 minutes or so faster, and without using controller 2. I finish my 8 robots by the time he finishes gemini man. I think it looks great so far. It should be done by Thursday.

I can make my run around 5 seconds faster, but Dale might have to get some cuts and bruises: Level A- Boss fight could have been tighter. (-0.5 sec) Level B- The UFO boss can be hit twice per pass. Can only hit boss once on the first 2 passes because I need to throw dale too. (-1 sec) Level H- I can kill the flying squirrels but not without dropping Dale unharmed. (-0.5 sec) Level I- Could have done this a little faster. (-0.5 sec) Level J- I have to wait twice for two of the weasels to go away when I could have killed them. Also I could have just ran through the axes and alligators and get hurt. (-3 sec) Room for improvement = approx 5.5 sec On Sat, 13 Mar 2004, Phil dfg wrote: > Chip 'n Dale done in 10:21.
