Well, there seems to be problems using any song in the video, so I don't know what to do from here. I've also been pretty busy lately, so even if I knew what to do, I wouldn't have as much time to work on it as before. If anyone has any ideas, or wants to give this a try, please go right ahead. If not, then I guess there won't be any trailer.

I think the current disclaimers are sufficient enough, but here's another idea for a disclaimer: "The gameplay seen in this video was done using the Famtasia NES emulator. Reduced speeds, save states, and re-records were used in its creation, thus, this video is not to be viewed as any kind of official legitimate record or display of human gaming skill. It is made for entertainment purposes only." Something along those lines. You can change some of the wordings, maybe instead of "human gaming skill" you can have "real-time playing ability", etc. This disclaimer is more detailed; it tells exactly how the run was made and that it is not a legitimate record or show of skill. There should be no confusion with this. That should get rid of a lot of the complaints. I think a longer disclaimer shown for a second or two might be good, since it would do a better job at catching people's attention. Most people can't read that fast, so naturally they would want to go back, pause the video and read what it says. Of course, its up to them if they want to read it or not, and if its shown only for a second or two, it won't get in the way of the actual video. Since its on its own screen and not subtitled, you don't have to worry about the disclaimer being longer. It might be even better if it took up the whole screen during the time its shown. Just an idea. Btw, Mister DAN, even with all the emulator movies out now, I would still be interested in watching your speed runs. Which games did you speed run? Is there a site where I can download them from?

That happens to me a lot, especially in the fortress. Its also easier to do it there, since you can clearly see where the tiles seperate. As for the whole running vs jumping thing, they are both the same speed, and the timer slows down the same amount for both as long as the P is flashing. The most practical reason why you would jump onto the clouds is to avoid all the obstacles on the ground, which can be tricky, especially in a speedrun. And I believe that the fastest 1-1 can be finished with is 294, unless there's some kind of shortcut I don't know about.

I ran into my first problem with the Gens emulator. The recording desynced after the first level, so I have to start over from Emerald Hills 2. I found a killer shortcut for Chemical Plant 2, but I only got it working once, and it seems impossible to do again. So, Ill just leave it for another version. The video looks crazy so far. Here are the new times: Emerald Hills 1 - 0:20 Emerald Hills 2 - 0:38 Chemical Plant 1 - 0:23 Chemical Plant 2 - 1:05

Sorry, I just got back from my trip and I see that the new site is up already. I'll speed things up.

working together is the whole point of this forum. If you want an example, Micheal Fried once had an idea of making smb3j by getting a powerup sooner so he made a small fmv of it and sent it to Phil, Genisto, and myself.
What was the idea for getting the powerup sooner? Was it getting the mushroom in 1-2 instead of 1-3?

Cool. So is the one in Clashman's stage really Wily 6? It takes you to a huge pit, so I'm just assuming its 6, but you die once you fall instead of scrolling, and it doesn't show the level either. There's also a weird room in Metalman's stage that I can't find anywhere else in the game. Its full of small pits that are really close to each other.

I've been playing around with the Wily warp glitch and managed to uncover every Wily level. Unfortunately, none of the bosses show up in any of them, so there's no way to skip ahead. Too bad. I'm still looking forward to seeing the new Rockman 2 video. Heatman - warp to Wily 1 Airman - warp to Wily 2 Woodman - warp to Wily 3 Bubbleman - warp to Wily 4 Quickman - warp to Wily 5 Clashman - warp to Wily 6(I guess) Flashman - none Metalman - none

There is a way to kill medusa even easier and quicker you know, if you posistion yourself EXACTLY right between a up and down spot on the screen she miss's you entirely (She shoots down instead of towards you) while you fire off shots rapid fire My 2 cents if you make a new speedrun
That way would take twice as long to kill her. If there's any distance between Pit and the eye, then all shots you make will be single shots that reload at the regular rate. By moving up and down while firing, Pit will shoot what I refer to as double shots; firing two arrows at once but reload twice as long as the regular rate. But, if you press up against eye like in my video, Pit fires double shots at the regular rate. You can tell they are double shots because I kill Medusa with only 16 shots. This way, you can finish Medusa in 9 seconds instead of around 20 seconds the other way. The fact that Medusa is hitting me has no effect on how fast I finish her.

I don't know exactly how I got there, and I haven't been able to get there since. On the start screen, it just showed 0-1 as the level number instead of 1-1. Then whenever you start the game, it takes you to 0-1. There's probably some warp zone minus world trick that can get you there. There might even be more minus world levels hidden in the game.

It was a different level than world -1. I had a game over in world 8, then from the start screen, held A and start button to continue. It took me to that level instead. I can't seem to reproduce this trick. I made a savestate of it if you guys want to try the level. http://members.shaw.ca/richu/SMB.zip

I like Tides of Time better too. The vertical levels where the huge boss chases you were awesome.

This is sort of weird. I was practicing SMB and I ended up in world 0-1. By the looks of it, I'm guessing its the -3 world from the FDS version that Michael described in the SMB FDS topic. I didn't know it was in the US too. There's a drawbridge at the end, but with no Bowser, and no Toad or Princess in the next room. Finishing the level takes you right back to the start screen.

hey the thing on bubble man stage where you can use the start button to get that glitch (right after the second three snails) and before the matel fish so you get transportet by the "roof" a bit further... is that possible on the maga man 2 europe consol version? cus i end up there everytime but i just get stuck and have to jump down to the left by myself.
It could also be that you didn't make it in far enough to the right. If you make it far enough, you should be stuck and unable to move left or right. From this position, just have Mega Man turn facing left and then let go of the directional pad to start zooming though the wall. You can stop again by moving right, and start again by facing left. Edit: Actually, I forgot one thing. As soon as the screen starts scrolling downward, hold left on the d-pad. Once the screen stops scrolling, Mega Man will be pushed in a bit to the right. Then just let go of d-pad and he will start zooming.

Wait, people didn't know how to bunnyhop in quake in 1999? Wasn't the game pretty old even then?
Some speedrunners were already using BH in regular Quake, but in TF, I didn't see commonly used in pubs and matches until much later. There were also quite a few people who quit Quake because of BH, but BH is the reason why I kept playing it for so long. It makes Quake the fastest and most intense first person shooter out there IMO.

Edit 2: I just remembered what he did. He entered the door just before the door normally entered, and since he was on the right side of the door, he was partially inside the wall when he went to the other side so he got pushed through the wall. I'm pretty sure that would be slower since you can run much faster than you get pushed through a wall. Is this what you did or did you come up with something else?
hmm, I actually didn't watch that far in his vid. Yeah, that would be it. It is slower and it would be a banned trick, but still looks cool. btw Michael, for 1-3, how do you start off the level? I always go over the top block to get over the boomeranger and then hit full speed once I get to the bricks, but this only works if the boomeranger is moving forward. The other way I do it is jump over the turtle, hit full speed, and then do a boost jump off the boomeranger, but that only works if he's moving backwards. What do you do for this part? I need something that can get me past him everytime and hit full speed before the bricks, without having to depend on luck and him moving in the right direction.

Marvel vs Capcom - Arcade 6. House of the Dead 2 - Arcade 7. Point Blank 1,2 - Arcade 8. SMB - NES (speedrun coming soon) 9. DDR/BeatMania - Arcade 10. Mike Tyson's Punch-out - NES Theres probably a few other games that should be up there on the list, but those are the ones that are most certain. I left out all the RPGs because theres so many and I really can't tell how good I am at each in comparison to those 10.

That's an arrow power-up room. On the last level, all the skill points you earn won't count until after you finish the game and start on the first level again. Then, if you earned enough skill points, can head straight to that room where an arrow power-up will be waiting for you, assuming your arrow strength isn't maxed out already. However, if you're just starting the game...... then yeah, its just there to piss you off and make you feel empty inside(just like the room itself).

See if you can get a good run on the NES version, and then submit it to TG and SDA. Edit: By the way, if you want to submit it to TG, don't forget that they ban the shortcut in Bowser's Castle that involves going through a wall. I'm not sure if SDA bans it also.
Will do. The run I did didn't use the wall shortcut. I just fell down the narrow path and made my way up the falling steps. Also, I found out a neat trick while trying to come up with a faster way through 8-f. Take a look at this map of the world 8 fortress: http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/nes/file/super_mario_bros_3_level_08_fortress.png Challenge: Finish the level without using the door labeled "D".
