Not that much longer than Chrono Trigger, not bad, getting it under 5 hours. I'll watch the rest of it later once I have time.

Even though it's about to be accepted, I'll throw a yes vote in too. I watched the previous movie and that was worthy to be published as well.

Actually, if I recall, on top of Jet Wario's running speed the further you get in the game the faster Wario runs in the end pole animation. He's really sluggish on Rice Beach, but load up a save in Syrup Castle and finish a level to see the difference. I guess Nintendo expected people would eventually get sick of the same thing every level, and programmed it to speed up as you went through the game.

WTF!!! The first real sequence break in Fusion? O__O
Not really. Look at the end of the video, Samus shoots the door, but it doesn't open. Looks like Nintendo REALLY covered their tracks to prevent sequence breaking in Fusion.

Do you have the right version of the BoF2 US rom? I know there's a few floating around out there with a cheat screen at the start, which was hacked into it. It has to be a clean US rom.

Ok, I asked around at an RPG forum, and it seems that it's a bug. Bleu learns the spells at 38 and 39, but she needs to actually hit 40 or so to use them. Not sure of the specific level, somewhere between 40-45 I believe. Looking at some old ZSNES savestates I have, two of them have Bleu hacked to Lv99. In one she can use the spells, and the other she can't, strange. So there must be some sort of level trigger in Lvs40-45 that allows her to use em. Well that seems to be the answer, anyway. Since she just hit 39 at the end of your movie have you tried getting her to 40 yet?

I know that Bleu starts at Lv35. She gets Missile at Lv38 and Bolt-X at Lv39, so is she even that high yet? If she is, and she has AP, and the spells are still greyed out, then I'm not really sure what could be wrong. I'll take a look at your set-up when I watch the movie and see if I can figure it out.

You can, he might kill them but they come back in the form they were in upon death, so if they were bonded before, they're bonded after being revived by Anfini.
Unfortunately you'll still need to exit the dungeon and reenter after GETTING Anfini. So unless you need the transformed forms for Barubary and Deathevn it would be best not to bother.

The transformations might help for awhile, but there are several scripted events which change party members back if they are tranformed. I think there's one in the St. Eva grand church, but the most significant one is in Dologany. When Ryu gets Infinity (Or Anfini, whatever) all the party members change back. So that'll make transforming for the final area mostly useless, since there's no required battle before Dologany (that I remember), and after that you'll have Barubary and Deathevn to contend with, and I can't imagine you'd leave the final dungeon to go back and transform just for those last two bosses. I've never even done that myself, and I believe that you'll only lose the transformations again ANYWAY when Deathevn does the whole crystal shattering thing. But, transformed Katt is pure awesome. As for the leveling, I'm not too sure what to do with Ryu. Chances are he'll gain more AP by the end of the game anyway, requiring more W Fruits.

Sounds awesome. Go for it! :D I spent some time looking over the monster morph charts, and I STILL don't get it. I think I have an idea... but I couldn't plan a proper 'diet' for a monster character to make a run on the game with. I stayed away from the Monsters when I played the game normally years ago for the same reason, I had no idea what would happen with em.

D'oh, I forgot Chrono Trigger was done. Hahaha, I lose. When I said 'four hour movie', that's what I really meant, but I thought of Mario RPG instead. Well, the point is still kinda the same, what's one more hour, if we have a four hour movie? If you go through the trouble of making a publishable BoF2 TAS then I'd say it'll be published, 5 hours or no.

http://www.rpgclassics.com/~onlinelife/Breath_of_Fire_II_(U).000 Here is a savestate I made when Ryu first enters the Arena. You'll have to watch through the whole business of fighting Dir HR, Katt, and Augus again, but it's better than starting from the beginning. 5 hours eh? Wow. Well, ya never know how much time you'll be able to shave off. Just what are the 'limits' of movie length, anyway? Does this site have a rule about it? I know SDA has one. But so far the longest movie is Mario RPG, and no one's come close to finishing a longer movie yet, so perhaps Bisqwit just wants to deal with it when it comes up? EDIT: Darnit, both the bb code and html are screwing up on me for some reason...

I used to play this game awhile back in highschool. I only ever finished it once, and only once. I never knew about the dragon trick, either. I had a standard party of Male and Female human, Male and Female Mutant, eheh. I'm looking forward to seeing this done, though, it's a pretty good game. I wonder, though, would a non-glitch run be considered too? You'll skip a lot of the game using the glitch, and a non-glitch run would be fun too. Even if it would be longer. What sort of party set-up would that require? Hmm..

The BoF3 speedrun is 11 hours, wow. I'll have to watch that pieces at a time.

A pure speed (and perhaps no coin) run, and a 100% run (getting the best ending, which would take some creative coin collection!) would be great. Wario Land was the very first gameboy game I ever bought and it's still one of my favorites.

I'm glad to see someone attempting this game, it's probably my favorite of the series, closely tied with 3. I'm all for giving Ryu an actual name. Saving frames is one thing, but I don't think there's a need to be so obsessive than to name an RPG hero 'A' for the sake of what having two less characters would save. An exception to this, of course, would be Dragon Warrior, where what you name the hero affects his stats. I wonder, will you be bothering at all with Township? You have to get it set up as part of a plot point, but will you be recruiting anyone? I think some of the townspeople could be useful, perhaps the cook who can mix items together?

Well it's probably just another drop in the ocean by now, but yes vote from me too. The site totally needs more Dragon Warrior. I always thought this one to be the hardest of the series, so it's nice to see it whalloped in such short order.

So are the goals of this run to get all the Red Jewels and defeat Solid Arm? Anything else? Beat all enemies and get all upgrades maybe? Or are you just going for the jewels? Good luck anyway. IoG is a great game and I look forward to the 100% run.

Hm. Perhaps a good rule of thumb to use would be that if you can get an item at two different times, and both times will take up the same amount of time to get, and if not having that item won't slow you down any, then get the item at the later time. As for the secret message, well, that's up to Megafrost. Since it's a 100% run, then perhaps it might be nice to include it. It's not like anyone would complain that the run takes longer with it, the best part of 100% runs is to show off things like this. Especially since it's so darn tricky to get while playing normally. But he can decide on that later. If it takes TOO much time to get (especially if it causes him to miss other items and backtrack for them) then it can be skipped. A matter of aesthetics, I guess.

I still say 'where there's a will there's a way'. Afterall, not too long ago we thought a TAS of Final Fantasy would look just as bad, but a way was figured out around it. DW3 is probably one of the most popular games in the whole series, even if it's a bit longer than normal and has more battles than normal I still think people will want to see it. I know I would.

Wow, you totally raped Nightmare. Well done. And that's the first time I've ever seen that fight without major slowdown.
