Wow, what was this bug about? Mutiple erasing making the sound to crash the game?

Wow that's a very good speedrun. Can't wait to read about the glitches. Did I really see Donkey turn into Diddy at some point?

Pressing turbo start at the beginning is a bad habit, as you probably lose 1 frame half the time. I also think that maybe some shot opportunities are missed on bosses, but I do not know the game well enough to say for sure. Just over 5k rerecords were used for 107k frames of gameplay. The average rerecord count of movies published on this site is around 20 per 1 second of gameplay. You rerecorded 3 times per one second of gameplay. This tells you that most TASers are recording 7 times more often than you. The rerecord count itself is not important, but it suggests that you may not be recording enough to produce a high quality, precise run. I think pacifist is a bad goal because some normal enemies are required to be killed fairly often. I think it also takes away from the entertainment potential. Alternating directions all the time is entertaining for a bit, but it gets old after a while. You have to be creative in a run like this. The run also doesn't do a great job with near death encounters. You need to be a pixel away from death instead of just arbitrarily weaving between bullets. I think it is possible for this game to be published, but I think the entertainment value has to be better. Moving with the music, moving as close as possible to enemies, and killing a lot of enemies could all make this movie more entertaining. I think many expert TASers would have a hard time keeping this movie entertaining for 30 minutes, but I do think it is possible. Watch the NES Gradius run for some suggestions of what this movie should try to be like. Like MESHUGGAH said, it should also be played on hardest difficulty. The rules say that runs should most often be played at the hardest difficulty. This is a case where a password is allowed to make the game harder and more entertaining.

You guys had the right idea, but I don't think it is within the capabilities of most new TASers to present a run so highly dependent on entertainment value. I'd encourage you to work on a different game and in the future post your progress in the game's existing topic for feedback. I'm sorry, but I have to vote no. (If someone could translate this it may be helpful to the authors.)
I'm going to claim a specific title for translating so much french->english->french these past weeks.

Good strategy for the second boss, can't wait to read what this fullscreen map trick was about on the second boss to avoid him using his attacks. I used the very same weapon, the one hitting more if you have few HP (so it was Patience claw all along?) when I played it eh (but well, mine had a +84 bonus haha).

As I must be one of the very few european (or occidental even) players to have played this game A LOT (yes, I've beaten the boss on the 99th floor of the third dungeon, the infamous metal spider), I'm very interested into seeing this game TASed. I suppose you will only do the two first dungeons, as the third is supposed to have no end. Can't wait to see this one.

Hey everyone, You might be aware of the existence of 88 MPH, a french webcast about TAS made by RealMyop and CoeurDeVandale. As the show is french, many of you have stated their desire to have english subs in order to at least follow the comments made during the show. In the past days, RealMyop and I have been working hard to provide some episodes subs in order to give you a preview of what you can now expect to see on every 88 MPH episode: full english subs! Right now, only 3 episodes are subbed, but every other will be subbed in the next weeks (unless we both die of a sudden heart attack). As all episodes have been re-uploaded on YouTube, subs were incorporated on the online videos: Episode 11 - Donkey Kong Country Episode 12 - Zelda A Link to the Past Episode 23 - Monopoly Episode 27 - Alex Kidd in Miracle World Episode 31 - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Episode 32 - Brain Age Episode 37 - Mario 64 + Zelda Ocarina of Time part 3/4 More to come very soon ! Feel free to comment if you had any problem with the subs, or if you want more of them, or even if you want right here right now a specific episode.

Horrible game is horrible. Glad that allows me to see what this game end-levels are without enduring the pain of playing it. Voting yes.

Voted Meh. I liked the movie, found it enjoyable and quite entertaining, but still, I'm not sure it's the kind of game that should be TASed, or maybe by doing it in another way (which I can't think of, which is why it's a Meh and not a No).

I remember when your nickname was in the url we typed to get to this website (if I'm not mistaken, now sounds like eons ago). There's a quote from you which I really love, when commenting Chrono Trigger's amazing glitched TAS: "Who needs strategy when you can just blast yourself through the wafers of the universe?" That sums up TASing: Go beyond. Technology provides us ways to go beyond what and why the video game was conceived, all is needed is someone to take this step beyond, to break these barriers. The most important point to me is the finality of all this: pure beauty and entertainment. That's not about getting a better society or solving world's problems, but still, it creates, in its way, a better world, where someone, in his own way, in his own defined entertainment universe, has gone beyond. And offered 1° an entertainment to anyone who can watch a run 2° ways, tricks, and research on how to go beyond. Yes, these games are closed universes with their own physics, deliberately, but still, the idea is there, the will to go beyond, to not only get better and better each time, but also to break the improbable barriers. All this may sound rubbish or onanism (saying it politely eh!), but still, that's really how I feel about the concept of TAS. But I suppose these topics have already been subject to many discussions, eh.
Post subject: Oh, by the way...

... I haven't even properly introduced myself. So here I am, 26 yo french old school player, been watching tasvideos for ages, but never really had enough will to make one nor register here and lurk on the forums. Still, I managed to make (at lest, damn it) a TAS last month, and I'm counting on making more and more. I think I've watched around 90% of the published TAS on the site. I'm that crazy. Especially for watching TAS of games I've never played. TAS really fascinates me, and I can spend, and actually spend in fact, countless hours watching feats beyond suspicion. Thanks to the community (especially #tasvideos) which provided me a lot of help, I'm not feared anymore. Yet I initially wanted to TAS a lot of SMS games (childhood memory, incredible experience with these games, etc), I'm already planning some things. Anyway, thanks everyone for the help you provided and still provides, for helping the noob I am anytime I ask stupid questions.
