Under the Config menu there's a option called "Bind markers to input", enable it. Your Markers will be affected by deleting and copying frames, which is a good thing, you don't need to reassign them all by hand. When you improve something, you resync your inputs with Ctrl+Del (delete frames) or Ctrl+Ins (paste-instert frames). You improved something, the next level will of course have all inputs on the same frame as the unimproved version. I recommend using branches for comparing strats not markers.

When your input file is very long, saving and loading takes some time, you can disable auto-save if that helps.

When someone presses left while running right, and vice versa, it is normally used for subpixel optimization. I haven't watched the movie, so I don't know what he's doing here. Subpixels need to be optimized when jumping throught a narrow path, picking up an item then running in the opposite direction or for subpixel carryover. Sometimes turning left for entertainment one frame doesn't neccessary waste time, if you get to the exit with the same pixel value.

Yes, of course. Despawning enemies saves lag frames. Depending on how many enemies there are, is save more or less lag frames, sometimes it saves nothing.

No don't submit yet. Consider this one as a test run and try to improve it. There're many places where saving time is possible. I managed to save at least 1.5 minutes on the ice boss. I did it in: 9:56.38 (35842) User movie #16620930177932148 You did it in: 11:20.02 (40868) The Boss has 10 health points, you can hit him up to 3 times per cycle, in some cases 4 times. That makes 3 cycles. You needed 10? cycles, because you hit the boss when he was invincible, resulting the health points didn't decrease. RAM address for health points is 0x00D2. I'll add marker notes to your fm3-file to point out improvable places. This will take some time. I'm sure this game can be beaten in less then half an hour.

If you're encoding it with VirtualDub, make sure you enable "force keyframes every 1 frame" in the compression settings. This fixed this problem for me.

By cloud displacement you mean the vertical boost when running towards a legde, right? In fact it can be used to despawn enemies, but only if the enemy would appear at the right distance to Kirby. The lasers reflect from the ground.

I did a game B version last week, I didn't know there's a thread, so I didn't post. It improves yours by ~15 seconds, including input ending early. I delayed 11 frames in the menu for better initial luck. Sometimes delayed some frames before the current pieces hit the ground to manipulate the next pieces. User movie #16579649248043790

On the autoscroller level please do as much Gradius as you can. Flying in circles around enemies, flying in a eight-shape or other things, but never stand still, unless it's entertaining. To make this game at least a bit entertaining. You have the ability to copy-paste inputs in TASEditor, which makes it a lot easier, you don't have to memorize input patterns. Try avoiding to charge a shot while standing on the ground. You should jump over the enemy if attacking him from mid-air is impossible. If jumping over also doesn't work, get hit by it, unless you die. Also reduce getting hit, because it drops your speed. I think you can do 3 hits on the ice boss sometimes.

Well controller two is used to controll the second character as you control the main character. So you can assume the second character is meant to be used, but the developers may left debug codes also in controller two, which made it act weird.

It is possible to get suboptimal movies published as a newbie. I did this with [1814] SNES Super Adventure Island by TASeditor in 16:56.87, but the days when this worked are over. The game choice affects the acception of a TAS. A suboptimal TAS of a simple game has a lower rate getting accepted, than a suboptimal TAS of a complicated game. Mostly because errors are more obvious in simple games than in complex ones. Well Super Adventuer Island is also simple, so it is the judges fault.

your computer malfunctioned. open the cupholder and insert a slice of salami. Looks like your computer is missing files to run BizHawk proberly, those may not be with the prerey installer.

Jump down to the P item and collect it, you can use air jumps after you collected it. Time the jumps well to avoid the enemies.

Try to used another zip program, 7zip for example. Btw we use version 2.2.2 today :-) Everything should work fine on newer versions.

Oh yeah, the level design sometimes prevents you from travelling further without power, which means you either need to stop and take a breath or try to not use power to much in order to get to the sections where you would have no power with power. The first in 1-2 would be such case, I'm not sure, haven't tested. The second in 1-2, you would need to jump on the upper section, no idea if it works. In In 2-2 you can collect the P item and then use a air jump, saves 121 frames.

1-2 two times, 2-1, 2-2. I'm sure the jump is always possible, use the method I posted previously. Looks like the in mid-air breathing glitch is not very useful, because it slows heaviliy down.

But I still see the Q Boy guy breathing. Watch the input file again. You don't just want to keep moving, you MUST keep moving. Can you use the glitch from World 2 in other places too?

I think you can prevent the breathing animation when you run out of power by jumping on a specific frame. I'm not sure, I think I did this in my level 1 testings. In TASEditor you should create one A press while in mid-air and then delay the A press with cont+ins until you jump. It is very useful to know TASEditors hotkeys. And I don't thing you need to redo the next level then, you can use the same input.
