Good TAS, but I feel like the game mechanics could use more explanation.
Well, I don't really know what I can add as an explanation. I already wrote everything about the game mechanics.

Sure. Link to video I also tested not to get the UFO glitch on the beetle fight, because I need to get rid of the UFO in the next level anyway, and it turned out level 3-2 can be finished earlier, but I already lose time when I enter 3-3. So the clip is slower. In the encode the UFO glitch isn't used.

Here's a WIP of the first two levels of World. Link to video In theory 3-2 could be 2 frames faster. Using a clip in the room with the slopes I can skip most of it, but I have to lose the UFO. So I need get it in the next room again. The problem is that those two enemies will always attack and create to much lag.

DAMN!!! MY MOVIE WILL BE REJECTED AGAIN!????? I SPENT 16 DAYS MAKING IT!!!! NO!!!! Why don't you give any chance to beginners?? I will throw this website FOREVER!!!!
16 days is nothing, there are TASes on this site which took years to make. Take the time you need and don't rush trough it. It is also highly recommended to watch the progress of your movie from time to time, you might spot an improvement. Also do not think, after you completed a segement or a level, that it is perfect. Try different strategies. That's the most common mistake newcomers make. Beginners have a chance, everyone was a beginner when they started, some learn fast others do not.

Here's an improved version of world 2: User movie #14914479521584614 I improved 98 frames over my last WIP, which means I'm 38.5 seconds faster than the published run. Sorry if it took a bit to long, but I improved the Wheelie battle in 2-2 by 7 frames which lead to a different RNGs. Additionally I improved the Meta Knights a bit which also lead to different RNGs. In 2-4 there are 4 enemies which are crucial to have a specific RNG value. I had to manipulate them in 2-3 to lose as less frames as possible. So I decided to keep the slower version of the Meta Knights battle and added some jumps which also slow a bit down.

This is one of the simpliest things to do. Find any frame you can press a button to scroll a dialogue, if it works test the previous frame, if not test the next frame. Repeat this process until you found the first possible frame to scroll the dialogue.

Anyway you guys need to stop being mean, if he can beat Major Mask faster than MrsGrunz then isn't he the best in the world? Please don't pre-judge.
Being faster than the current TAS and optimizing the TAS he works on are two different things. Even with some sloppy gameplay he might still be faster, but I wouldn't count him the best at this game.

Yeah, from the look of it you just kinda knocked out the entire run in a couple hours without waiting or asking for any input. Maybe you should try collaborating with someone on your next run? The ability to have immediate feedback and a second eye would probably help immensely.
How...?

The best example I can think of is this. It is a bit different, because it has no background music, but the player can "compose" own music while playing. A lot of TASes have the characters dancing to music, but it is reduced to auto-scrollers and stage end scenes, of course. The idea of such things one of the highest supported things here. The reason many potential TASes don't do this is because its very hard to execute.

Knowing about subpixels is absolutely important for making a optimized TAS. Subpixels are fractions of a pixel. They're normally 1/256th of a pixel, sometimes 1/16th. To understand how subpixels are calculated, imagine a clock. A clock has 24 hours, 60 minutes and 60 seconds. Each time the 60 seconds are over the minutes will increase by 1. The same counts for subpixels, instead of 60, the subpixel value need to get 256 to make the pixel value increase by one. The amount of subpixels, which are calcuated depends on the speed value. Let's say the speed value is 120, you have 256 subpixels and the starting subpixel is 0. This means every frame the subpixel value increases by 120 each frame (0, 120, 240, 104). Where does the 104 value come from? The subpixel value only goes from 0 to 255, so if the value is greater than 255, it starts counting from 0 on again. You can calcualte the subpixel with a simple formula: subpix_new = (suppix + speed) MOD number_of_subpixs

Back in the days when I made my glitched run, I stumbled over this glitch. I don't know if it was posted by someone else earlier, but I'm sure this glitch is known. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yITcL5m7qjQ How does it happen: When you talk to a townsperson while the drawing of the screen is somewhat messed up, which means you're at high speed, the game will crash for a short time and then Link picks up a thing, sometime he doesn't pick it up. My reverse engineering skills are very limited and couldn't find anything interesting about this glitch.
