You should use BizHawk. It uses the mupen64 plus core and should be more stable.

The video was just a demonstration to show off the glitch, not the locations where the glitch is possible.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Everytime the run will be different than the normal version, it is completely fine if you use different characters or secret weapons you obtain after beating a game, etc.

As it is now, getting the compass/map seems extremely superfluous and a complete waste of time where as without the magic key they'd still be pointless to obtain, but they would more or less able to be gotten along the way with minimal impact on progress (Collecting them in such a playthrough would feel more natural).
Ignoring the magic key and getting the small keys instead is a waste of time too. I collected maps and compasses, because they stay in the inventory and add some rooms which are not shown in other runs, without getting to pointless with collecting stuff. You can't really tell if it's a waste of time since there is no counter for percentage of collected items.

Once you have the key it's just straight to the items in each dungeon and then the boss, no deviating at all which is kinda meh. It would've been way more interesting if the Magic Key was collected last or never collected at all as it would've involved doing the dungeons in more interesting ways as well as showing off the complete dungeon design better.
Then it would be more like a playaround TAS. It wouldn't increase the entertainment factor, because the fighting techniques would be the same.

The game has individual selectable levels, so route-planning isn't a problem. You just need to finish each level with 2000 rupees if I'm correct.

Got4n, be more precise with your hints. You basically want to press the dialog box as early as possible. That isn't always when the dialog box shows up it could be some frames earlier. You press the dialog box a frame earlier every try and look for the lowest frame.

http://tasvideos.org/PlatformFramerates.html PAL runs at 50 fps, NTSC at 60 fps. There's also PAL60 for Wii games. So both of them should be eqaually fast. But NTSC is prefered on tasvideos.

Looks decent so far. There are some parts which probably can be improved. After 35 seconds in your encode you turn around to the left, you want to avoid that. I'm not sure but I think doing the spin slows Mario a bit down.

You seem to have trouble optimising TASes by your own. I suggest to collaborate with someone who is a good TASer.

Any idea what exactly caused the problem in the first place? And it just... fixed itself? How long did it take? Oh, and can you tell me if you've tried using a static IP outside of the normally used IP pool (like using 192.168.1.20 although you normally only go as high as 8)? I need to be able to pinpoint the problem somehow.
Not really, the internet dropped when I powered on my computer. I didn't use a static IP address. We only have 7 internet devices in our household.

Hmm, I had a smiliar problem three years ago. My computer caused dopping the whole internet connection for all devices in my network. We have tried different things, like getting a better ethernet cable, buying a new router. None of that really solved the problem. But surprisingly after some time the problem vanished, even if I still have the same computer.

Haven't worked on this for some time... The healer spawns a frame earlier, but a frame is somehow lost when going inside the house. The luck manipulation on the overworld before Temple 2 is really though, do you have any tipps for me. The enemies always get me.

Search for values that change the same as you would search for x/y-positions, relative to the screen or the level. And then you need to somehow find the lenght/heigth of the hitbox.

Sadly not, the beam creates a lot of lag itself, only in a few cases it is faster to kill some enemies with the beam.

Well, most of my knowledge on what a section of code does comes from copy pasting an example online, then messing around with it. Not the best way, but it works fine assuming its a hobby and not your job to make the game. :P
But what if henke37 wants to understand what he is doing. :P

The video Spikestuff suggested is not very helpful, because it only says copy-paste the code, without saying what's happening. Only skiddies do that. I'm not really good at programming games, but I can help a bit. For collision you can use a if-statement, the character is on ground if right side of the character is greater/equal the left side of a block, then if the left side of the character is lower/equal the right side of a block, then if the bottom of the character is greater/equal the top of a block, then the character stands on a block. You propably can change the order of the if-statements to prevent pointless calculations. For jumping you can either a linear jumping curve, which means jump for a specific time with the same y-speed and then fall down with the same speed. But that doesn't look very nice. Instead you can use a parabolic function to create a smoother jumping curve, the speed starts fast, gets slower to the top and accelerates while falling down. You also need a variable which contains information, if the character is in the air. Drawing the game simplified on a piece of paper and look what conditions need to be true can help.
