Maybe there are 1, at most 2, frame improvements possible until the pre-Torizo segment (and even that is highly doubtful), but definitely not more. You will see.
I was able to gain another 4 frames: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/258201698/crateria.smv But how? Certainly not because it was improvable by more than the 1 or 2 frames you mentioned, that's crazy talk. Also, the moozooh jump is back! :D

Saturn, please stop saying that everything to Torizo is perfect. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/184967545/zebes%20improvement.smv Another frame is gained in that smv by not turning around before entering the OTES (the first visit), which allows me to jump one frame earlier. Of course this messes with the elevator, so I shoot in the OMBR to add lag to the door transition (real-time is what affects the elevators, not in-game time). I'm also sure that there are still more frames to be gained. Btw, here's a good timesaver in Red Brinstar: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1956540303/fall.smv (EDIT: don't download this smv, Hero posted a better one)

Click. It's possible to skip the bomb jump in this room without the high jump.

Click I decided to use the Space-Time Beam to TAS Ceres with all items. This was made quickly so it's kind of unoptimized. The escape time is 50'75.

Also, did you test if abusing the subpixel momentum boost can get you to land more inside this platform and eventually allow to jump onto the next one a frame earlier there? It probably won't be enough anyway, but I just want to make sure, as it's the only theoretical improvement left to consider in the escape.
Yes. It isn't possible to jump to the platform or reach the door earlier. Nothing would happen anyways unless I got to it two frames earlier.

49'20 I was able to skip both frame delays in Ceres (one before the scientist room and one before the steam / debris room). I always knew it was possible somehow, but only just now got it to work.

Thanks to timer randomness, I was able to get 49'17. Here.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/801162299/ceresescape.smv Only one more frame needs to be saved in Ceres now. This is done similar to the last one. Delaying a frame in the zig-zag room saves one in the debris room.

About the 49'12 I've just tried hex editing some frames into the intro to manipulate all the steam and the ceres door and ridley(1), after going though 189 frames of stalling the intro. I've not been able to get to the elevator, I did manage to get really really close once, but I got hit by a steam in the elevator room (1) If the Ridley fight were to be changed to not have anything that can be affected by randomness (such as damage boosting) then the odds of desync would be much lesser
Click The timer randomness bumped the time to 49'14. No additional frames were saved. I only had to delay one extra frame from the 49'10 smv.

I mean delaying a frame in the previous room to open the door in the next a frame earlier. That's what saved the time in the smv.

Just tested it. The trick doesn't work on the way to Ridley, unfortunately. It just wastes a frame.

Another frame has been saved in Ceres. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1133827690/Yay.smv EDIT: I know it stops in the steam room. I'm just too lazy to hex edit it right now.

wanna see it but i cant connect to dehacked anymore i dunno why, but awesome work taco i think you own that room, what did ya change?
I kind of did the same thing as last time, but better. On the 49'08 I went out as far as I could from the door and then turned to do the walljump, but on this one I turned as soon as possible and then started moving to the left, which saved a frame I guess. Also, I couldn't connect to dehacked last night when I tried to upload that, so it's not only you...

Seems like Taco is the only one who seriously has chances to match my record someday. I'm impressed a guy who never actually did a serious TAS, gets such good results that early. Great job!
Thanks. :) It's been bugging me for a while as to how you got 49'15. The time really is hard to beleive, so I've been trying to figure it out for a while. When I found the trick that gave me 49'08 I wrongly assumed that it was the best way to do that room, and decided to try that part out again last night, and then got 49'10.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/747229914/ceres4910.smv 49'10 Ceres. Again, I only did the elevator room.

Alright, I've discovered a new trick for Ceres. Turns out it really is possible to jump a frame earlier in the 3rd room of the escape, only it turns out to be 4 frames slower. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/140858459/Jumpearlier.smv The reason I'm still posting it is because I figure somebody might be able to figure out how to "make" it faster. Just watch in frame advance to see what I did. :) EDIT: Nevermind, this is nothing new.

Well, I came up with an idea a few minutes ago that might improve the 49'07 Ceres Escape that Hero posted a while ago, and it worked. The new time is 49'08. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1468880059/ceresescape.smv Note that only the last room was done by me, which was where the improvement came from. I used the first walljump when I was higher in the air which is what saved the time. I assume this was because I didn't slow down as much before reaching the first platform.
