Does Knuckles jump higher when in Super Knuckles form? If so that might be a better way. Then again if I remember correctly there are no rings in the final level so that wouldn't work after all... Guess I answered my own question.

I would definately like to see a run of this game. I've beaten it myself but only by using a password that gives you all the items except dynamite and sets you up to fight Doom. It's a really fun game overall, especially when Roger gets run over by cars. I also like the jokes the Weasels make you answer when they catch Roger.

I think he should max out the plane because it makes it a bit more interesting. Not only is he able to get 100% kills but he's able to completely max out his plane and keep it that way throughout the game.

This is going to be an interesting run. In my opinion the animations have to be left on. The animations are one of the best parts in the game, especially when the fighters do critical hits. If you turn them off, you get something that looks like Deja vu combined with Starcraft - it would just be a bunch of menus and moving your units around with the occasional story scene here and there. As for figuring out how the numbers get set, good luck. I don't know how to get into the memory and RAM of any ROM, so I can't be any help to you there I'm afraid.

Great job, the new version looks really good. I don't think you could've run the race any better.

Great job on the new WIP, you got it out really quick. That's a nice suprise in level 4. I agree with daniayaw though, you shouldn't use it too often, it makes you seem too invincible. As for the defensive power upgrades... I have a thought. Maybe he's planning on his plane being completely maxed out by the time the movie is completed so he's just going down the line? Is that what you are doing CtrlAltDestroy? I thought the movie was very entertaining, even when you stood still when waiting for enemies. That somersault thing that the plane does after a boss dies, is that a special move or something or can it be done at any time? If it can, maybe you can do that while waiting for the enemies. It would be really cool if you could pull it off. That's all I have to say for now, it's a great movie so far and I wish you the best of luck with the rest of it. As Randil said, keep up the tempo! As for your hand healing, try putting ice on it.

This would be an interesting run to see in my opinion. Would you still be able to get the Chaos Emeralds as Knuckles or no? Would you even consider getting them or just skipping them to save time?

Yeah. I love watching a huge group of enemies go down at the same time, it's so cool!

I watched your WIP as well. Very nicely done. I'm looking forward to the next WIP post.

I figured out how to manipulate the level up increases. It seems the gains are set during the fight that you gain a level, so by saving a record before that fight, I can level up, see what the gains are, then reload and fight again until I get what I want. I also know how the gains work and what the max level up gain would be, so all I need to do is keep reloading until I get the best (or real close to it) gain. As for manipulating battles, still no luck there. The only thing that seems to influence battles is what I do, whether it's "Attack" or "Defend" or "Item", no matter how many frames I wait or how fast I go. Still, I'm inexperienced at using frames to manipulate stuff and pausing with frames, so it may take a while to figure out. I've decided I'm going to use Wilme because he is cost-efficient and has decent fire magic which will help in the long run. What I haven't decided is who I'm going to get as a partner, if I get a partner at all. Any suggestions?

Ooops sorry, I should've checked to see if there was a topic for this already.

I know this can be done as I've done several levels myself and it would be pretty interesting to see. I would like to see one of the SMB3 masters beat SMB3 using only the Froggy Suit. I know you don't get the Froggy Suit until World 3, but maybe a code can be used to give it to you at the start, seeing as how it isn't progressing you any further through the game and is actually making it harder. What do you think? Can it be done? I think it can.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to doing the run. One thing I noticed is the battles work more like an algorithm than complete randomness. You do one thing and the enemy reacts accordingly. When I was experimenting earlier trying to see if I could manipulate double attacks every turn, there was one battle where the enemy kept doding my attack. No matter how many frames I waited, the enemy kept dodging. It wasn't until I said "Defend" that the enemy didn't dodge me. Maybe by finding the correct "path" manipulation is possible. I have to fiddle with it some more I guess.

D'oh, I never would've thought to look for a button on the keyboard called "Pause". I was holding SHIFT and pressing everything but didn't think to look for that. Anyway, I was experimenting with the battles today. I may not have been doing it right, but I couldn't get the enemy to miss me. I was holding the button needed for the next frame, then hit the \ key to advance it, then resumed the game. I just connected with a normal hit and he connected with me. I tried this a couple times, and got the same result. Maybe I should wait longer or something. Would defending more than once effect it? As for doding enemies on the world map, that's easy. I don't need to use luck manipulation to do that, I'm so good at it. I'll use it anyway though because I want this run to be perfect. Defending + Double Attack would indeed be more powerful than a normal Double Attack. I know this from experience. Any attack that comes after defending will be stronger than not defending. Double Attacks without defending will be faster because you only need to say "Attack". What I could do is use Double Attack + Double Attack on normal enemies, then use Defend + Double Attack + Defend + Double Attack on bosses. That with increasing my attack power with B Powers or the Power spell would make quick work of them. There is an item for just about every spell in the game. B Power, Agility, Ice, Protect , Fire, etc. The Mirror spell protects against Vacuum I think, which is what the Harp does. F-Shield spell proects against a fire or ice attack for one turn, and I'm not sure if there is an item for that. As for manipulating the level up stats, that's gonna take some doing. I know that by simply loading state you can manipulate the stat increases from items like A Seeds and V Seeds.

What's the keyboard key called Pause? The only way I can pause the emulator is by going into the file menu.

That's a great start, thanks for the help! Another thing I noticed is you level faster with one person than with two, because you aren't sharing exp. This also increases the difficulty, because you are more likely to die alone than you would with a partner. One strategy I used when I would play for fun is I would get the two people I wanted, then kill my partner and level one guy at a time. It worked well, especially if I would use frameskip and make the battles pass by in milliseconds. Though it's not that easy when I play on my SNES. Your idea with the crystal ball will probably work because I dodge enemies all the time. The defend/attack scheme seems like it will work too, especially since defending before attacking makes your attack stronger. I know how to use slowdown, kinda. With SNES9x you just hold SHIFT and press the + or - key on the numpad right? What speed do I need to set it at to make it go by frame by frame?

The 7th Saga is an RPG made by Enix an is one of my all-time favorites. It's got superb graphics and an ok storyline and is really tough. Has anyone thought about doing a run of it? I've beaten the game several times myself and it takes a very long time, but with luck manipulation it might take too long. I'd like to try a run myself but I'm new to the speed run/TAS community and I'm not to familiar with luck manipulation. If I didn't use luck manipulation and did the run, I'd wind up with a run that could be anywhere from 10-40 hours long and that would just be ridiculous. Would anyone like to see a run of this?

I know it's not the best but like I said it's my first run. The unnecessary kills part was me mocking Tim. Everytime I got near the Gallimimus he would say "Don't shoot the Gallimimus!" So I would shoot them to be an ass and to add a touch of humor to the run. About the dark rooms: you can't enter them unless you have the night vision goggles, and while skipping them would be a time saving method, it can't be done. Some of the dark rooms contain ID cards that are required to get into future areas, and some have to be passed through simply to progress into the building you are in. The items I picked up were necessary because I needed all the ammo I could get. True, if I knew how much each ammo pickup gave I could calculate the precise amount needed for the run, but I don't know much they give. It show s four icons of the weapon, yet takes 3 or 4 shots for one icon to go away. That's why I picked up the extra ammo. All in all, I'd really like to see it get published. If it doesn't oh well, at least I can say I have made a speed run. Thanks for watching the video though.

I did it! Today I continued my work on the run and I actually finished it and to my suprise it works! The run runs flawlessly with no desynchs!! I'm submitting it now, man it was a pain in the ass to do! It took me a good portion of the day to get it done, not to mention the hours I put in that resulted in failure some weeks ago. Anyway, I'm probably gonna be seeing dinosaurs in my sleep now.

Never ending? Wow I never knew that despite all the hours I've poured into that game. Anyway, have you ever considered doing another run of Gauntlet I where you play through the game and get the password from the secret rooms? I know you already know what they all are but for the sake of fun, how fast do you think it could be done?

Well, I've done the run again and I am still having desync problems. I read the desync thread and tried the things it said, I checked and unchecked multiple options and made sure I let the game run for 10 seconds before I started recording. Still I got desyncs, may not have been at the same spot but I got them nonetheless. Poopies.

How do I do that? I know how to stop the recording and watch it, but how to do get it to record from where I left off?

It's no good. I can't get it to stop desyncing. Do I redo the movie from where it desyncs or start from scratch? Or is there another way to fix it? I've tried what the FAQ says but it didn't fix it.

Not really. There was a little backtracking but not too much. The run is finished, I'm now experiencing desync problems. I'm going to read the FAQ now to see how to fix them. It took me all of yesterday to do it, using rerecords and everything. The raptor nest was the biggest problem.
