Ok, I just finished my second video. You can get it here. This time I used CtrlAltDestroy's 1943 video (with his permission of course). This video is only 3:44 and about 35 MB. The quality is pretty good seeing as how the background is mostly water and that sometimes gets a little blurry for some reason. The song I used is The Urge's "It's My Turn to Fly" from the Titan A.E. movie soundtrack. The font is small because I didn't want to spoil the suprise. If you knew the name of the song right away I fear it might give something about the movie away. Or I could just be being paranoid. Either way, enjoy the video! EDIT: File is about 35 mbs, not 22. Sorry for the mixup!

Wow, I didn't remember all that! It looked as if you discovered a warp or something, you were in the egg at one point. Maybe this can be used in a run or something, I dunno. As for the Battle of Olympus stuff, lol that was great!

Nice video Randil! You seem to be getting the hang of this, the transitions from fight to fight were really nice. The song also mixed well with the video. Good job!

Hehe. I converted part of Megafrost's Blaster Master glitch video into an avi. I think it would be great as an opener to a run. You know, a header page thing (Bisqwit has the Megaman one) that appears at the very beginning of each published run and is there for like a second.

It looks great adelikat! I loved watching you bomb the orange car into oblivion so it would go super-speed. I think this concept would definately work, seeing as how you can knock the crap out of the other cars while orange finishes the race for you.

I'd like to see that. Another idea would be to "follow" the orange car by means of blasting it with a missile each time it tries to take off with it's super-speed. It would be fun to watch the orange car get blasted the whole race. You might even be able to pull a win out of it. That would be cool.

Wow. That is really good. I'm at 2-2 currently, making great progress. I'll post a WIP when I finish 2-2. Now I'm faced with a question. Seeing as how Baxter proved it is possible (I believed him anyway) to get 4128 on the first level, should I redo it? I think 4139 is pretty good, but if you guys think I should redo it, then I shall. What say you?

The movie looks good Randil, nice job! I've never really used Moviemaker so I don't know how to change the codec. I do look forward to seeing more of your videos. Keep it up!

Nice movie Vatchern, it was really nice. Keep it up! Also, I'm currently in the process of putting together another video. This one is going to be shorter, sub 4 mins to be exact. It should be done soon so be prepared.

Ok, redid the boss fight and now I kill both werewolves with Megagon. The stage finishes at frame 9316, 102 frames faster than without Megagon! You can see it here. Did I mention how annoying Megagon's punch is? No matter what frame I hit the punch button on, he would not extend his arm until frame 8929. He may be halfway through the boss but the game will not register the hit until the arm extends. Also, at frame 8913 it looks like I miss the boss. I actually connect with the boss on frame 8908 or so. I have no idea how this works because I couldn't get it to happen again for the final hit but I somehow hit the boss before the arm came up. Just letting you guys know I didn't miss. I'm done with this for tonight, kinda tired. Will continue tomorrow and will post a new WIP.

One question on the second boss fight: Is it faster (and if so, how much faster?) to kill the two werewolves with Amagon rather than using Megagon?
I did some testing and found that it is faster to transform into Megagon and kill the two werewolves than it is to just kill them with Amagon. With Megagon I finish the stage at frame 9357, whereas with Amagon I finish at 9418; a difference of 61 frames. It's tricky to kill the werewolves by punching because they are always a set distance away from you. If you get inside said distance, they back up then stop when they are far enough away. Megagon's punches are the worst in the world and are very hard to manipulate. I can't figure out how they work, sometimes I can get him to punch while without stopping, and other times he stops for a few frames then punches. It takes 243 frames to transform into Megagon and while transforming the game pauses, nothing moves at all until you finish transforming. I transformed into Megagon before the first werewolf and it takes 2 energy blasts(?) to kill them. That also takes 2 notches off the health bar. The second werewolf takes another 2 blasts, so that's 2 more notches. The first form of the boss takes 3 blasts, taking a total of 7 notches. His final form takes 4 blasts, making it 11. I have 10 notches on the health bar. I'm going to try killing the first werewolf with Amagon then transforming into Megagon to kill the second werewolf and the boss. I'll have 2 extra notches from not using him against the first werewolf, which will give me enough health to kill the boss, if I don't get hit by him ;). I'll let you know how that turns out. EDIT: Tested it, still faster to kill both werewolves with Megagon; killing 1 werewolf then transforming finishes the stage at frame 9402, 45 frames slower than killing both with Megagon. I'm going to try to finish off the boss with a punch or two.

When you go to get the Spring Ball, is there any way to glitch through the sand-like stuff that creature has to destroy for you? That way you don't have to stand there and wait for it to be destroyed because that can be annoying. On the console that's the only thing you can do, although you CAN kill the creature but that just leaves you stranded.

I'm glad to see lots of people like this idea and thanks for the compliments on the Street Fighter video. To answer the question that's on everyone's mind: HowtoMakeAVI. I used the programs listed in the avi faq. I did do a couple of things differently though. I didn't do anything special with the avi dump. I just used the XviD codec and dumped it from SNES9X (any codec will work for this part). Second, I didn't record the wav sound from the original avi dump. I already had the sound (the song) so that step was skipped. I also didn't need to encode it with LAME because it was already an mp3. If your song isn't in mp3 format you can try to encode it with LAME or find a converter that will do it. With the song set the next thing to do was the toughest part: editing the video. This was done with VirtualDub. You can get it from the link on the FAQ (gotta love that thing hehe ;)) Actually, editing wasn't really tough, more like time-consuming. Since I didn't fast-forward or anything when dumping the avi, I went frame by frame and chose which ones I wanted in the video. That wasn't too hard either. By pressing Delete you can delete a frame from the video so it was just a matter of pressing delete to skip the parts that weren't needed. I found it was better to do the video first and then mess with the song because I knew how long I needed the song to be with the video done. Once the video was edited, it was time to encode it. Like the FAQ says, I set the Color Depth to 16 Bit RGB {555} and chose Audio > No Audio (because I already had the song). I then chose XviD MPEG 4 codec from the Compression menu and clicked configure. This is where it gets different. Profile @ Level was set to Unrestricted (that's the same) but instead of choosing Two Pass: First Pass, I chose Single Pass. After choosing Single Pass I clicked the calc... button to the right of it and set specs. This is where you set the size and everything. You chose the target size for the video (in kbytes), the target size for the subtitles (if any, but in this case there shouldn't be so just leave it at 0), the format for the video (AVI, OGM, MKV, etc...) and the length of the video. You also choose the format for the audio file here. The format is MP3-VBR (as the FAQ states) and Size(kbytes) should be checked. Then click the ... button next to it and select the song you are using. This doesn't add the song to the file but gets the file ready for it (I think). With your specs chosen click OK and go back to the XviD configuration tab. You'll see the target Quantization slider bar. The lower the number you set the bar at the better the quality but larger the filesize. The bigger the number, the smaller the filesize but lower quality. I set the bar at 4 ( 4.01 to be exact) and got great quality (as you saw). That's all I did different from the FAQ. The rest is exactly the same (save for the second pass and stuff because I did a single pass). When you choose your filesize you can manualy enter a number by typing in the Target Size text bar thing. Just make sure you choose something reasonable. You don't have to use the same settings I did, I only got these because I fiddled with it a bunch of times. Just make sure you don't close the VirtualDub program or you'll have to edit your video all over again. adelikat: If you want I can make the video for you. Just tell me how you want it done/what scenes you want in it.

Just watched this run and I like it. The game however is one of the most horrible games I've ever seen. I applaud you for making a big improvement over the previous run and for playing this run so well, dispite the game being as bad as it is. I'm voting yes on this, it's very well played. Good job! The only thing I liked about the game was the funny names they made for the bosses. "Cold Killer", "Death Bear", "Centipede" lol.

The original Zelda: Link's Awakening. It's somewhat like an alternate universe. You could explore it more if you had the flippers but I didn't want to play that much into the game. Check it out This is a glitch a friend of mine taught me a very very long time ago.

Oh wow, I didn't know. In a way this is a little different, because this is about the runs themselves and not a commercial like thing. If this does happen to go somewhere, what other runs would people like to see redone like this?

Saturn's Super Metroid RBO teasers gave me an idea. Why not make music videos of TASes? The idea is to take the more popular runs, edit them and add music to in a sense make a music video. I got Saturn's permission and used his Super Street Fighter 2 run (with Ken) for the first video. The run was originally 11:32. After editing, it is 5:02. I did it this way because the song I chose is long enough to fit the whole run in. I used Joe Darwish's Street Fighter 2: The Ken Song from OCRemix, and is 4:12 long. I was able to add a portion of the original Street Fighter 2 Ken music to the beginning to increase the song to 5:02. They fit together well, seeing as how the song and video are both about Ken. You can get the video here. The avi is about 47 mbs and is really good quality. The only thing I couldn't do was put the overlap screen on, the one that is at the beginning of each of the published runs and tells who played the run and how long it is. I could never figure out how to do that. So, what do you think? If enough people like it, maybe more of these will pop up around here.

I did have a big post about the Super Scope here but I just found a post about it in the SNES9X forum so I decided to shorten it. Would it be possible to fix SNES9X so we can do TASes with the Super Scope? A Battle Clash or Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge run would be really interesting.

Wow, it's been a while since I posted an update on this thread. I took a break for a bit and remotivated myself and now I'm back at it again. This time, I got 4139 on stage 1. 1 frame faster than Acmlm's attempt. I'm going to go with this one. I have no idea how Baxter got 4128 but this is the best I can do. Get it here. Randil is right, there is a very small amount of lag when 3 bullets are on the screen at once. It's so subtle that you won't notice it unless you're looking for it. I managed to avoid having 3 bullets on the screen at once until the boss fight, where it is unavoidable. I also did stage 2. I reached the end at 9418. 9418(both stages) - 4139(stage 1) = 5279(stage 2). This stage was kinda fun. I hit every edgeboost I could except for one, around frame 6200 there's a mushroom that keeps me from using the edgeboost because any attempt sends me headfirst into him. I tried to shoot it but the gun is too far above him to hit. I ended up edgeboosting on the ledge right before it and jumping over the thing completely. The boss fight is interesting, I think you'll like how I did it. I did some comparing with this run and the cancelled run and found that this run is much faster than the other one. On the old run I finish stage 1 at frame 4398, stage 2 at 5493 and had a total of 9891 frames. With the current run, I finish stage 1 at 4139, stage 2 at 5279 and have a total of 9418 frames. I saved 259 frames on the first stage, and 214 frames on the second stage for a total of 473 frames! At this rate I should be able to improve the run by at least 30 seconds.
