My computer is still in the shop. Apparently the problem was more serious than I thought. I hope to get it back within a few days so I can finish this run.

This is a noob question but when you say "author" dvds, are you talking about converting the avi to dvd or editing the dvd file itself? One more noob question: What program do you use to convert the avi file to dvd?

Ok, I'm going for entertainment on this one. Sorry I couldn't get it done before Christmas, but I will try to have it up before the year is out. I'm experiencing some computer problems at the moment so I can't work on it right now. They should be resolved tomorrow and I can resume my work. Just wanted to let you know I'm not dead. Thanks to all of you for your support!

Nice technique, it should really save time.

Yeah Draygon, not Botwoon. I knew I was going to get them confused.

Speaking of Botwoon, you guys do know the trick to killing him with the Grapple Beam right? I watched both the currently published runs and neither of them use it because the player didn't get the Grapple Beam. I was just wondering if you knew because it is a real timesaver. As for getting the Spring Ball without the Ice Beam or the Grapple Beam, I dunno. I think you should do what Saturn suggested and ask an expert.

The 7th sounds fine to me. I'm going to be away till the 15th but I'll still be able to work on it because there's a computer where I'm going. About the StarCraft thing, I play too. I'd be glad to join anyone who wants to play. I must warn you though, I'm not too good.

Everything is going fine. 6-1 is really tough and I'm debating on which way I should do it. I get the Mega Key near the beginning of the level and I don't know if I should transform right away or wait until the boss. Usually I would wait until I get to the boss but there are a lot of tough 16-hit guys in this level. It would probably be more entertaining to kill them with Amagon but it could also be faster to dodge them with Megagon. So its the same battle of speed vs entertainment. It won't take me long to do it once I decide how to do it.

Since you are doing a reverse boss order suitless run, how do you plan on getting to Ridley? Is there a way to get through that "U" like section at the entrance to lower Norfair? I tried to get through without the gravity suit and I couldn't do it. If you've already answered this in a previous post I apologize but I don't have time right now to look through the past pages.

Nice job, looks really good. Is walking backwards really faster than running forward?

WOW, that was tough. The next 2 levels are done, only 2 more to go! Get it here The savestate is here In 5-1 I realized I could use Frame Advance to kill the stronger enemies quicker. This allows for more entertainment IMHO. Enjoy!

Hummm tailz yes this is very impressive movie but you talk as if you hadn't seen that there is a published ecco movie already (much worse than this yes, but it exists). I suggest you browse through the published movies maybe you're missing something you'd like there hehe
I have seen the first published run and it was good, but not as good as this. I think I was too extatic on my last post but that was because I was so amazed by this run. I never thought this could be done with taking no damage.

I thought about it and took a look at it, but I think I'll be staying away from that game for the time being. The movement is nearly identical except that they improved jumping and on-land control, but they also fixed the turn+dash bug that made it possible to skip barrier glyphs or hover out of the water, and the game looks longer and even more tedious than this one (fake-3D minigames, pushing crystals pieces together with sonar...)
I expected it to be more tedious but I didn't know they improved anything.

I don't think you can pull off a floating cape trick while on Yoshi.

Cool, I look forward to seeing it. Crazy/pointless games are always fun to watch. By the way, did you happen to check up on the Japanese version of the game that Boco mentioned?

HOLY CRAP! This has to be on of the most impressive things I've ever seen! This game is one of the hardest I've ever played and I myself haven't been able to get past the 8th level (the one with the big blue whale) so to see someone beat the crap out of it is a big treat. Not only did you clobber the game but you did it without taking damage! That in itself is amazing. You bypassed crystal barriers, swam through solid rock and did it all in under 30 mins! Simply amazing. Voting YES of course. I have just one question, ever think of trying your hand at Ecco 2: Tides of Time?

Ok, I'll rename the savestate to make it work. EDIT: Ok, the link works now.

Randil is right. When I walk off the edge of something I can get a slight boost which helps save time. Would that be consider a programming error? I don't think it would be because I'm not manipulating the game or anything, just pressing the button at the right frame. As for the link to the savestate, I think the problem lies with the "( )" around the U. I tried using the underscore (_) like you suggested Randil, but it didn't like that either. I also tried using a hyphen and taking the space out altogether. Neither one of those worked either. If I renamed the savestate and took out the (U), would it still work? If it will then I'll gladly change it to make it easier on everyone.

I'm half-way through the game right now. I should have another WIP up sometime today. As for shooting everything I can, I found that it's faster to only shoot the things in my way and dodge the others than to shoot absolutely everything. If Amagon could fire diagonlly I would definately shoot more enemies, but he can only fire straight, forcing you to jump to hit higher enemies. It's been proven that you lost a frame while jumping so I'm trying to minimize the amount of jumps I make.

Another fun idea would be to waste all your bullets as fast as you can and stock-bash your way through the game, assuming you can do so while running.
I never thought of that. It would be interesting to see but how would I get rid of all the bullets? You start with 300 or so and I can't just fire at nothing. I did however find a Game Genie code that makes you start with no bullets, but I'm not sure if a run with that would be allowed. Also, I don't know if it only works for the first stage. Either way, I think it's definately worth looking into. Thanks for the complements everyone!
