Big fat yes vote. I didn't understand too much about what game modes you went through, but for a fighting game that was bloody entertaining. B A B A L I T Y

If you want one NOT copied and IS by Me, (SM64 16 star run pt.1) Go to the SM64 forum and I think at the bottum of 233, there it is!
I think you are ever so slightly misunderstanding the point of this site . . Also lol @ the epic fail.

who? me? I've always enjoyed making TASes, just i havent really had much time to spend on them recently. Also, trying to TAS Bomberman Hero was too much for me, i don't have the patience for that length project yet. But i might have a look around for a game that grabs my interest :P

Do you think that a similar tactic may be useful for the second star of LLL as well? Great find, whoever it was XD

Mm, there's a stark difference between "This is my first effort at a TAS; what do you think?" and "I'm submitting this TAS to be published on the site." Doing the latter as your very first action on the site is likely to make you some enemies (unless you actually legitimately made a good run, of course).
Exactly why i never posted my first attempt at a SM64 TAS on this site. It would have been the height of arrogance. Mine was a one star run in about 10 minutes.

Well I've more than doubled my progress this past week, and we get to start seeing brand new material soon. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/659021537/Kirkq%20Bomberman%20Hero%20Warp%20Room%2051705.m64 Erars Lake +174 (Possibly entirely from the Manta Ray.) Waterway +52 Rock n Road +6 Water Pool +144 (This was extremely difficult to pull off effectively.) Warp Room +31 (Extremely optimized bomb kick exploding against the ground under the switch instead of the wall, there is no better timing for it.) +1360, (22.67 seconds)
Although you only improved time-wise by a mere 6 frames, i was greatly impressed with how you handled Rock n Road. Much more entertaining! (the rest speaks for itsself)

YES VOTE GET! shame the RNG is such a bitch, but on the other hand, if it wasn't, you would just be firing stars all over the place, clearing each level in only one or two shots. It might actually detract from the entertainment, as one of the greatest joys that i got out of watching this was seeing the occasional tough level being passed unexpectedly quickly. (contrasted with all the others being passed just quickly)

144 saved frames don't exactly come from nowhere. =p Endol's laughing animation significantly cuts down his invulnerability time. (72 frames per hit if your hits were all optimal.) I get hit the frame after he takes damage each time. He is invulnerable for a portion of the laughing as well, but not nearly as long. I kept health to take one damage in Groog Hills. There are actually 3 hearts in Erars Lake (on either path).
Well that's assuaged any worries of mine. And you managed to get back to full health on Erars. Good stuff!

Great Rock +92 frames (Much better platforming optimization, usage of bomb drop momentum, etc.) Fog Route +254 frames (Mostly due to ZAR's trick.) Endol +144 frames (Uh, what? ;D) Groog Hills +7 frames Bubble Hole +22 frames (An important note here: Jumping into the warp was faster than falling into the warp by about 10 frames.) Now 953 frames ahead (15.88 seconds)
Great work! but the endol fight left me a bit confused. Did you take damage on purpose to save time somehow? or did i get a desync? I'm assuming the latter might be unlikely, because the rest of the endol fight played out very nicely. Any explanation of whats going on? Also, congrats on making that jump in clown valley, i tried to and failed heh . .

You should write a short story in the background while TASing the game. :)
Keep in mind that the rainbow meter runs out; it's not infinite, and you need to wait a while before it refills. And, that precious resource will be needed to save time, draw ledges/slopes, and create shortcuts, so you're limited there as well, not to mention spam tapping Kirby when he doesn't have the wheel will prevent you from drawing. I thought it was only the explodish boxes (with the bomb symbol) that you could tap to remove them? Also, yes, the physics of the game (creating new routes using the rainbow lines) will be incredibly complicated. This is probably going to be one of those games where some different strategy is going to be inevitably faster per room. ThMarksman: does an all medals run really have that much detouring to collect everything to make it 3+ hours?
Firstly, i think the optimum tapping rate was roughly one tap every 6 or so frames, so that leaves other opportunities for drawing some extra lines, breaking boxes, etc. The obvious exception being during the levels requiring kirby to spend a lot of time off of the ground. Also, getting 250/250 medals requires getting every medal in the main game, beating the 3 medal records in all of the time trial and line trial parts of the rainbow run, unlocking every character then re-passing the game with each of the 4 other unlockable characters, and finally getting a rank AAA in all 3 subgames. Because each of the subgames is more or less a giant endurance test, this would take a fair bit of time as well. And when i say 3+ hours, that is a low estimate. Although some characters such as the meta-knight can pass the game quite quickly, others such as king dee-dee are quite slow. The waddle-dee ball is just a pain. Having said that, the king dee-dee ball can break one or two of the levels, using his long range attack to hit buttons you aren't supposed to be able to reach.

Does Mediafire block Australia?
It doesn't seem to. I can access the site itself, for example when i click on the link i get the appropriate site, which is fine, but i will be stuck with the 'Processing download request . .' message and never able to download the file. Attempting to 'Save to My Files' will result in a 'Working..please wait..' message stuck on the screen. At a guess, its my firewall not allowing the download, i'll have a look at it later. Also (back on topic) are you really going to be doing an all medals run girfanatic? do you realise what a massive run that would be? We are talking 3+ hours easily unless you find some major game breaking glitches.

Thanks! Well a few things to note: I learned (during my brief playaround with this game) that tapping kirby as fast as possible doesn't translate to kirby achieving the highest possible speed. You seem to realise this though by the second level, do you know what the optimal tapping speed is yet? Also drawing loop-da-loops will cause kirby to get a boost which i think is slightly faster (obviously we need to find out what the x-speed address is), it would be worth checking. On level 3 it is worth noting that hitting anything will cause kirby to slow down (except for when he's ice/fire/lightning/rock) so you might be able to get a faster time as a wheel flying through the air, avoiding most obstacles (unless you want to kill anything in your path for the sake of entertainment). And as comicalflop mentioned, it is definately possible to turn the wheel around with half loops, to stop kirby flying upwards afterwards, try drawing a second line under kirby after he(it?) gets off of the loop.

I'm 95% confident it isn't faster in the any%. I'm not sure the time you chose to bomb the switch in your platform was optimal, I didn't look that close. Perhaps setting a bomb and waiting for it to blow up will make the platform better. It's 3 extra warps, an out of the way jump, a climb, and another jump compared to riding the platform up and jumping in the green warp. May be useful as an option for the 100% route, I'm not sure that it will be applied in either route, but still another impressive find.
Why didn't i think of that? Actually, it would only save maybe a second (at most) anyway. I forgot that after getting the walk-through-walls item you can teleport straight back to the room with the platform.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqh310HgyC4 I'm sure this won't be useful in the any% TAS but for 100% it could be very useful. The only way this could be used for any% would be for someone to find a way to get past that wall at the exit of the level. Which I doubt will ever happen. But if someone can find a way to boost up onto the platform that has Wall-Through on it then it could turn out to be faster.
Actually, this would still help as a shortcut for an any% run, would save having to wait for the elevator

Nice find, i think the passing time between Crysta Hole and Emerald Tube was quite significant though. Still, its worth re-investigating. (or have i got the courses the wrong way around?)

Good to see you still finished with 8220 left, and i liked the way you ended, hadn't thought of that! I'm quite sure that ending with falling off of the course is possible for most bosses as well, just try and keep each fight as unique as possible! (and don't worry if that means not very unique, i know there aren't too many different things to do). Anyway, keep up the great work!

I'm aiming for perfect surgeon. I'm being cruel and sadistic in other ways, which you'll see when it's finished. And there's no need to physically write sadistic surgeon in the submission title; you'll notice no other game does that for separate categories. Nor do I at the moment feel a need for a fastest run, since the time difference between them will be less than I thought (and my WIP is a full 6 seconds faster than a fastest time WIP).

I already did, earlier in the topic. If you mean a new one, absolutely not (you'd know that if you knew how I don't give WIPs anymore ever unless for specific reasons); I'm using "cutting edge" optimizations as well as some techniques that I really, really must keep secret until submission. Trust me, you'll enjoy seeing the entire thing with new eyes when it's submitted.
So which run are you going for? perfect score, or sadistic surgeon? By the way, if you or someone else ever does the latter, please remember to put 'sadistic surgeon' in the submission title :p
