Hmmm, seems like Tecmo was experimenting with multithreading. Too bad they used this game.

Welcome, dude! I was a lurker myself a few weeks ago, and I know how it feels. Good luck on your TASing!

If you did BwBMR, would you be doing the actual level, or just leaving once you came in?(IPJ up to the right boundary of the level, there's a secret passage leading underground to the actual level) For that matter, would all levels be just "enter and exit asap", or would you play the levels to their proper conclusion?
Yep, I'd be doing BwBMR, the actual level. And I'd have to complete BloogFoods, FDoD, and Bloogton Tower properly because those levels have the items needed to finish the game. I'd also have to complete BloogWaters Crossing properly because there's no faster way. All other levels would use the IBT routes I posted earlier.

However, the game's timer is screwy too. And bisqwit was saying that an ideal TAS should optimize realtime as well as the timer.
I'd like to seriously thank you for verifying that for me. Patashu needs to look at Bisqwit's post before he/she posts his/herself.

I on the other hand think real time only is a good reasonable solution.
See, that's what I think too. Hmm...I might do that!

Hello people, how you doin? My name's Trademark Skidmark, welcome to my show here. How many people are going to be playing this game? So yes, I AM Trademark Skidmark. I have seen a lot of TASes already (I have 5 GB worth of published movies on my HD) for about 3 years. I hadn't registered until a few weeks ago, though. I'm working on a TAS of Splatterhouse (TG-16) with NitroGenesis. However, after two weeks he hasn't even finished the first level yet! *shot* He probably has, but I'm not gonna go further than that. I plan to TAS Commander Keen 6 (DOS, all levels, hard), Metal Storm (NES, expert), and Bionic Commando (NES) in the future. Until next time, happy TASing people! =)

This might be obvious, but a workaround for the fact that there's no training mode is to use cheats to give 2P infinite health and turn on unlimited time (although you might be able to change the time from the options, but I haven't played in a while.) Also, what SF2 are we talking about here?

I have long planned to improve it, but progress has been extremely slow. This is a difficult game to TAS, because the game's timings are extremely volatile. Really. It seems like the game does not obey any frame granularity whatsoever. The timer ticks at different rates, and frames can be lost without any apparent lag occurring. Due to changes in my life I am not going to expend personal labor in TASing this game.
If the timer is screwy, then why aim for in-game time? I would just go for real time (which is calculated by frames, if I'm not mistaken.)

Double post Bump. Quick question. If I was to do an all levels run of CK6, Would the Bean with Bacon Megarocket hidden level count? (You access it by "entering" the ship like you would any normal level.) It has absolutely no effect on the game, it is just an easter egg.

Levels where you can use the IBT to glitch-complete the level: Guard Post One - Go to where green key is, do IBT in corner, duck First Dome of Darkness - Go to right end of stage, IBT, duck Bloogdome - Here, you don't actually glitch to directly complete the level. You just use the IBT and duck to get through some walls. Go to corner of starting platform, IBT, duck, fall, go to closest UPPER corner on right, IBT, duck, get to exit. Bloogton Manufacturing - Pogo to first ledge on right where red key is, corner IBT, duck Bloogton Towers - Go to arrow on right, IBT, land on right side of top floor, go to right corner, turn around, IBT, duck Bloogfoods Inc. - It is very complicated, so I have posted a picture. Guard Post Two - Another "glitch through walls" level. Go through the middle entrance, fall, IBT on closest UPPER corner to right, duck, IBT to get to ledge on right, fall through hole, get to locked exit, IBT in corner, move right, get to exit. Bloogville - The simplest one to IBT-complete. Just IBT, duck, move right until level is complete. Bloog ASA - Get to locked yellow key door, IBT, duck, move right until level completes. Guard Post Three - Same as Bloogville. Bloogbae Rec District - Get to electric wall thingy, IBT, land on top ledge, go to door on left, exit. Bloogwaters Crossing and the secret levels cannot be completed any faster by IBT. Bloog Control Center can be completed with IBT, but it will gltich the game to where it can't be beaten.

Well, I'm TASing a game right now, but when I'm finished, I'm planning to do Blood (1997).

Nice, Nitro! I didn't really notice sliding made Rick faster, I will improve upon that, also the route taken was faster. Thanks for making me feel a lot better about my TAS. *shot*

Oh yeah, I'm willing. I've beaten Splatterhouse countless times before, But only once doing it frame-by-frame. I TASed it yesterday, beating it in a little over 15 minutes. Then I noticed the movie had mistakes scattered all over. I'm going to reTAS it today and tomorrow and be extra careful. Splatterhouse bad TAS here. Rom is (U) Version

O.K., Splatterhouse is first. Nightshade might seem easier, but after doing some experimenting with PCEjin, I found out that Splatterhouse has A ONE FRAME DELAY! ...Besides, someone has already made a TAS of Nightshade. It's harder to obsolete something than just make a new TAS, right?

As I choose my first game to TAS, I don't know what to choose. Help me, please! 1. Blood - PC (1997) (takes damage to save time, uses hardest difficulty) 2. Splatterhouse - TG-16 (1988) (uses hardest difficulty) 3. Super Mario 64 - N64 (1996) (Playaround, heavy glitch abuse) 4. Nightshade - NES (1991) (100% completion, heavy luck manipulation) 5. Shadow Warrior - PC (1996) (takes damage to save time, uses hardest difficulty) Info (no videos are by me) 1. Info, Speedruns of Single Levels (NOT BY ME!) 2. Info, Longplay (Again, not by me) 3. Like you don't know what it is if you're registered here. But look! 4. Info, TAS (but not 100%) 5. Speedruns I will eventually TAS all of them, but IDK what to do first. No poll 'cause I haven't posted enough.

I'd love to see a TAS of this game. Too bad FBA doesn't support it. If you don't know what it is, check here. There's a speedrun for the TG-16 version of this game, but: 1. It's not a TAS. 2. Arcade has lots more entertainment value. 3. It's on GameTrailers. Ewwwww. Any takers? I guess because its unsupported by FBA, maybe the TASer could slowdown MAME or something. If not, I could do it myself, but I'm too lazy. ^^

Wow. The YT vid's P-HSWK is kinda screwy, but still, there's nowhere you would use it. It would be useful for freerunning, but that's about it.

Not really, because with a P-BLJ, you can hit start to get out of the pause menu, so you wouldn't have to hit A every frame. As for the HSWK's, even if you would get to the speed where you'd have to press A every frame, I don't think there's anything in the game that would require that much speed to get through. It's kinda useless to go that fast when you only need so much speed. Get my drift? =)
