These are TASes of hacks that should be placed in Standard as there are available on smwcentral or romhacking dat net (please double check): [2514] Genesis Tails in Sonic The Hedgehog by marzojr in 13:21.87. [2090] NES Mario Adventure by Soig in 48:58.23. [1534] NES Rockman no Constancy "hard" by woabclf in 28:59.07. [1853] SNES Metroid Super ZeroMission by Cpadolf in 20:43.28. [2381] SNES Metroid Super ZeroMission "101%" by Hoandjzj in 1:19:30.64. [3119] NES Kaizo Mario Bros. 3 by Lord Tom in 14:42.71. [4167] NES Mega Man 4 Voyage by Baddap1 in 39:46.94. Here are movies that should go into Standard after the Forgoes Major-Skip glitch branch was introduced into Standard : [3357] NES Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse "Alucard path" by zggzdydp in 24:47.73, because this is the fastest branch (character+path) not using a Major-Skip glitch. [4578] SNES EarthBound "in bounds" by illayaya in 2:58:51.36, because this is the only available branch that is not a Major-Skip glitch, obsoleted movies of the save glitch branches aren't labelled major-skip but I think they should be. [1918] SNES Secret of Mana "3 players" by Touch-me in 1:46:29.90.

With the new hack rule, I believe this should be back into current publication, I looked at romhacking dat net and found it : [2521] Genesis Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog by marzojr & WST in 13:05.29 into standard as it is the fastest TAS to beat the hack while keeping [4400] Genesis Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog "no zips" by DarkShamilKhan, ParadaxeTH, WST & marzojr in 15:04.28 into moons. About the forgoes major-skip glitch into Standard, here are some movies that could be considered : [559] SNES Donkey Kong Country by Arne_the_great in 24:23.88, because this is the last movies that is not using a/the warp glitch considered major-skip used in movies that obsoleted it. [3530] DS Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time by Migu in 3:21:09.92, which is not using the Major-Skip glitch from the current publication. [1437] DS Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin by arukAdo & gocha in 10:14.85, last movie which not uses glitche(s) considered major-skip but I can be wrong.

These are probably not acceptable right away because seen as trivial with little user creativity but I hope it will become acceptable one day. These are acceptable now : #4237: RealMyop's SNES Super Road Blaster in 17:21.21 was with little user creativy/is a Choose Your Own Adventure game. #5655: Cyorter's Wii Fast Draw Showdown in 10:41.25 was trivial. I know that hacks are just begun to be revisited but I'll list the ones that I'm pretty sure are acceptables, found them on smwcentral and romhacking dat net : #4105: kuja_killer's NES Rockman 3: Burst Chaser in 24:16.32. Done. #2805: woabclf's NES Rockman: Deus Ex Machina "Normal" in 27:02.51. Done. #3273: kaizoman666, TheFinalBoss726 & Fethy75's SNES Kaizo Mario World 2 in 19:26.47. Unacceptable emulator nowadays, so unless we sync it on an acceptable emulator...?

With my TAStm32 v4, a NES and a SNES, I should be able to console verify some TASes but most of the movies I tried for them didn't work. I'll need to figure out the reason but I should just list them here as I also want them to be verified (by me but still) : SNES Spirou (no movie yet but I made a testTAS and continuing for making a full TAS) NES Mario Bros. - Classic Series (https://tasvideos.org/2671M) Solstice - The Quest for the Staff of Demnos (https://tasvideos.org/578M) The Lion King (https://tasvideos.org/4113M , https://tasvideos.org/4029M , https://tasvideos.org/3973M , https://tasvideos.org/3959M) Astérix (the obsoleted TAS : https://tasvideos.org/1693M)

Here we go with my first console verification and maybe also the first PAL TAS ! The quality isn't the best but I wasn't able to do better without having to put an epilepsy warning.... https://tasvideos.org/1701M : https://youtu.be/RQocCif2IVM

This movie didn't console verified so I'll probably ask for a delay to change the inputs if needed whenever the problem is fixed. Thanks !

I totally agree with this suggestion, I had one that I shared for the transition of accepting hacks into Standard. But the end goal was this suggestion ! If it can be implemented in one shot, it will be for the best.

Hello, Even if I doubt someone here will find it, we never know... It's a PC game, probably even a french game that I played as a child in french and the only thing I can remember is at a moment you have an acorn that you move on the screen by dragging it. At this point, this is a forest with a boar which says EN(approximate traduction)"oh acorn!"/French "Oh un gland !". You can put the acorn in the mouse of the boar which will say EN"I like acorns!"/"J'aime les glands" or something similar. The boar on the screen is on the middle/left of the screen I might say and I believe there is also a tree at his right. This game is probably upopular because I played it thanks to the library in my town. That should be a game from very late 90s to 2000s Thank in advance if you find it !

I should have post this sooner... I actually did the same movie the 25th of February but didn't bother neither submit/upload to userfiles as it was just for fun and didn't think it could be acceptable. The only difference is that my movie is made on GBA mode and so the length is a little longer because of the mode but the gameplay doesn't differ. Link to video The problem is that on the 1rst of April when it was submitted I just saw that the length is faster in GBC mode but didn't think about GBC/GBA mode differences at the time so I just deleted my movie from my computer, so the only proof of it is the video above. I don't want p0008874 to have this movie rejected because of that and so, if he accepts and that this TAS is acceptable, we replace this one by mine and we are both co-author. Otherwise, I don't mind for him beeing the only author. But maybe if this movie is acceptable on all other points, it won't be accepted as there is already a TAS that exists with the same gameplay length... EDIT here is the exact same movie (mine) in GBA mode : User movie #637853847787680279

This [4070] GBC Spirou: The Robot Invasion by ViGadeomes & zoboner in 17:34.46 is wrongly considered as a GB movie instead of GBC.

Yes but you can't press right less than what I did or the "Stage Clear" message wouldn't appear as soon as possible which can be considered as the end of the level. That's what I explained in the submission text. Maybe it wasn't enough clear sorry.

This idea came in my mind and I would like to share it. This idea isn't there to add more work to judges ( I would like not ) and to place these obsoleted movies as published TASes if it's possible otherwise beeing able to have a link on the movies that obsolete them. There are many situations where this feature would be used : For example, a movie was submitted a long time ago but rejected at the time because of a rule that isn't optimization... Many years later, a faster movie of this game is accepted as the rule that made the old one rejected isn't there anymore. This feature would put the old movie accepted back or of a kind of acceptance atleast linked on the movie which obsoletes it mainly for historical reason. Another example is a movie submitted but cancelled before it has been published because a new improvement was on the work. Even if the movie didn't have the time to be published, this is still a part of the TASing history for the game and so a little place to him would be cool. A last example is a rejected movie because of its optimization... Even if it shouldn't be acceptable this is still a part of the history. I don't think we need to judge optimization about these movies because it would be very hard to put us back at the time of the submission with the knowledge back in the days... If we end up publishing these TASes I would be happy but I'm sure and know that it will be hard, maybe impossible and not everyone would agree with that. Atleast, I would like a different class or group of movies for these that would be eazily findable.

I missopened an issue about it : Taken from the very old forum thread for the change of Vault tier suggested by Samsara and some others. Back in the day, Vault was so underrated that Vault movies had no chances for beeing watched but even today, all Moons and Standard movies that aren't Recommended for newcomers don't have a lot of chances to be watched by people that aren't really on the site so this feature still applies. So the suggestion is to add under the featured movie on the Main Page a movie randomly taken from all TASvideos movies.

By what standard are you going to choose the "most popular hack"? And what if popularity changes, and some other hack becomes the most popular? What if popularity changes often? This is not hypothetical, by the way. Romhacking.net lists about 450 romhacks of SMB, and about 60 for each Mega Man game and the NES/SNES Zelda games; the site for VVVVVV lists about 1000 homemade levelsets for that game. Which one of these is the most popular?
This is a good point, we could choose what standard we take and then the most popular by this standard at the time of the submission should be accepted into Standard but I see that even then, it can leads to problems... I can't think about a proper definition of such hack that could fit here and wouldn't contradict the Standard definition, so it's only a WIP.

I thought about a suggestion during a discussion on Discord a while back and forgot to post about it here so there it is : A solution (atleast for the moment) for this movie would be to accept (a) TAS(es) of the most popular hack of each official game into Standard without taking into account its entertainement. Would matter as well its differences from the original game if it's a problem. Then, we would accept any TAS of other hacks of the same game into Moons like we do now.

Here is a resync of the movie with the GBC-AGB BIOS activated. I didn't need to change anything. Be sure to check it: User movie #637782312281436525 I also replaced the name of the author and the rerecord count.

I posted some thoughts on Discord about levels on this new tier/class that can apply depending on the implementation of the tier/class : If having ILs compared to full run doesn't change anything for the run i don't think it is useful to accept them as it will be redundant stuff. A solution for it would be, if standard/moons classes can obsolete the showcase class, to obsolete all levels that doesn't save time compared to one of the full run. Another problem of levels that doesn't save time compared to full run is authorship... A new person arrive and "submit" (depending on the implementation) a level that is already in the Moons/standard TAS of the same game by another author, even if the inputs aren't the same, the author(s) of the old TAS already made the level optimally. This thoughts aren't against level implementation of possible TASes on the site, just that this thought can be posted by someone else at any time. I really don't mind if all levels can be submitted even the ones that doesn't save time to full-run.

Difficulty, as well as all sorts of options like game speed, colors, audio. What if some option allows a high number of variants of the same stat? Do we allow every variant? On top of every other variant of every other option?
I didn't mean this kind of options (cosmetic changes as I ever saw this called) as part as what I was calling a Game Mode. I don't really know how to word it tho... I understand the trouble of defining such thing. I consider them as settings under the options of the game and not a Game Mode. What I see beeing a Game Mode is really on the first menu of a game where there are defined choices before the pre-gameplay(name...) or the gameplay. A new game mode can also be unlockable after beating another game mode like this is the case of #7264: Tarion's GBA Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance "Juste, Boss Rush" in 05:01.34. A New Game+ could also be another Game Mode if this is clearly obvious in the main menu before starting the game. Concerning difficulty, even if I don't consider this setting as a clear Game Mode, I have some thoughts about accepting more difficulties TASes for the same game if it doesn't only change what we normally see in games with this setting : anything that have to do with our HPs, HP of ennemies/bosses, more aggressive AI/ennemies/bosses ...) I am thinking about games that remove some levels in eazier difficulties for example but this is not our subject right now.

How do you define what is and what isn't a mode?
I took my time to think about it and used as a basis the definition that we can find in french here. This is my proposition to define a game mode : game modes are the different ways the user can choose to play from the menu before starting to play. Depending on the context, it can designate the number of simultaneous players or the type of gameplay sought (when the game offers a choice). This fix the problem of fighting games but can maybe also add the difficulty choice problem in the discussion... This is only a WIP and this needs some discussions and feedback.

Sorry for the long wait of the answer.
feos wrote:
How many currently published movies have this NMG extension alongside the goal that has major skips?
I don't think we can use as an argument movies that are already published on the site as it is irrevelant to the discussion because : First, we need to define a context where the NMG full completion could apply : - A game where a Major-Skip Glitch is known - The use of this Major-Skip glitch in a context of full completion doesn't go in conflict with the full completion goal itself. For the second point above, I mean by this that I don't see a "all levels" run where this is the only way to define full completion to be using a Major-skip glitch. So the fastest "all levels" run which respects the full completion rules (that I mostly agree with) is without the use of this major-skip glitch as most of the full completion TASes on the site. It is then irrevelant to take as conter-example movies where full completion is in conflict with the use of a Major-Skip glitch. So there isn't a lot of movies where a Major-Skip glitch and full completion could apply.
feos wrote:
MNG full completion is being considered for the future. The question about it and your other suggestion is, is it a standard goal at this point? Is it common, popular, clear, obvious?
In the context eplained above, I think NMG full completion is a standard goal and that it is common, popular, clear and obvious. Both of these games are a good example of this if we do a NMG full completion in them.

Since the first wasn't in the good thread, here is one suggestion for here that can help the Iconoclasts case maybe : Here is one suggestion from andypanther Post #389554 :
andypanther wrote:
Personally, I would even be okay with allowing even more games to be accepted there, like pure party games or ports that just have minor differences, so the statistics nerds like me can be happy.
I would like to extend this suggestion by removing the "different enough" from all the Rules : Standard Official (maybe even unofficial ?) ports of the same game should be allowed to be published side by side even if they don't have a lot of differences because even if there is a few, there are still some and so they can't be considered the same game. For a player, the controller, the screen, the cartridge, the price etc is/was different. That would also be the case of GB/GBC games but not to GB/SGB as even if the platform isn't the same the ROM/cartridge is but this GB/GBC/SGB case could be discussed. If we can't TAS all games that ever existed, how could we ever have a published movie for all games on the site ? Game modes of a same game should be accepted side by side even if they don't have many differences as they are considered as different game modes by developpers/creators of the game since they can be chosen by the player on the menu of the game or whatever. The only exception would be fighting games as the choice of your character is a part of the gameplay. Moons Two branches of the same game should be published side by side even if the other one isn't that different from a Standard or another Moons movie if it is entertainning enough as even a small difference can change a lot how funny/interresting it is to the audience. Different Hacks even from the same game and that are close from each other should be acceptable side by side if the TASes are both entertainning and interresting (they would still need to meet a popularity criteria atleast for the moment). I don't have a clear idea of the general hack situation as I'm not interrested by it so I'll let others give their thoughts/suggestions on how to change it for the best. End There are probably other places where this suggestion could apply but I can't think of any at the moment.

For Standard, we currently have Fastest Completion, Full Completion and No Major Skips (I know there will be more in the future but at the time of my post they are not implemented). No Major Skips is by its definition a Fastest Completion category/branch without the use of Major-Skip Glitches as the percentage of game completion isn't important only the time to complete the game... So What I suggest is to add the No Major-Skips possible as well for Full Completion and any other new goals that would be accepted into Standard if it fits. Fastest Completion and Full Completion are both about the Completion so here are the goals for example and then "Warps"(fastest completion), "Warpless"(fastest or full completion), "score attack"(closer from full completion) would be sub-Goals which could be named differently. This last paragraph is only suggestion but atleast accepting No Major-Skip and maybe the future "glitchless/No heavy glitch" for Full Completion is what I'm looking to change if possible.

This run still has the "Fastest Completion" flag but should be deleted as the GEG TAS is there with the flag [4351] N64 The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask "game end glitch" by BruceShankle, Fox, andzura & Seedborn in 22:44.90.
