It’s a nice idea. I recall at least one brilliant run made this way. It really breaks the submission rules, but, at the same time, it’s clearly a tool-assisted speedrun (and a good one).

In all honesty, it’s the most crazy-looking fight against the final bosses of this game I’ve ever seen. It’s a pity that you couldn’t skip the engine room though. I did it once in one of my old Amy@S3K WIPs, the idea is to go offscreen far enough to fly through that room at a very high speed.

Anyway, I love how Knuckles instantly self-accelerates at frame 1361 and turns back instantly at frame 1403, then stops at frame 1443 (and then laughs!).
Also, I love how you enter the gate from ICZ to LBZ from the Launch Base zone side. =D
I think you should really kindly ask Aglar to try his hand on SPZ2 level-wrap that you tried to set up…

I think that second (first on your way) wall may be forcing your alignment to be unsuitable for the level-wrap, despite enough speed. It needs some calculation though. Made a quick attempt on breaking it, also failed…

You can use tar format (packing multiple files into one without compression) with that IPS thing. Or try further with TortoiseSVN or diff/patch (the latter can be used within WSL environment for example).

The fact that Amy has a faster level wrap is actually ridiculous. What time did you end up with? Also if you haven't done so already I'm pretty sure Amy can get enough height to get the frame perfect boss kill.
My time for Amy in Sandopolis 1 is 1:05.31 :)
Working on the second act nowadays, and it’s hard. I may ask for your assistance, but I think I’ll try doing it myself.

Amy can make an even faster level-wrap in this level; and it was also found by Evil_3D when I asked him.
I fact, I asked like “hey, can you please try to find some time-saver for Amy here?” and he found that level-wrap within minutes.
It’s going to be in our upcoming Amy TAS, if I ever finish it…

Man! Your Sandopolis 1 is one of the most beautiful and tool-assisted things I’ve ever seen! However, I remember how marzojr told me that Aglar discovered a way to perform the “standard” Knuckles level-wrap for Sonic alone in this stage. Consider asking them. As far as I remember, it’s all about bringing your X speed to zero at the moment when you enter the ceiling.
I also love how you always optimize your subpixel position, that looks cool :)

Is it possible to not lose the snowboard in ICZ1? I tried it a little and it looked like I nearly did it, but I still hit the wall near the very bottom of it. Does anyone know if it’s possible or not?

Haha, yeah, I also can improve my own runs many times again and again. Anyways, if you roll before the jump at frame ~3218, you’ll be able to keep the high speed for a few frames longer, but I am not sure if it saves at least one frame. Also, that rock, that you touch at frame 3460 — I know for sure that you can reach it’s top using 2-frame jump (it requires high Y subpixel position though). Even in Aglar’s run he reaches it with 3-frames jump, which, in theory, can mean that it’s improveable, but it’s not 100%. In fact, that particular place after the loop (and including the slope before) really sucks — it’s hard to select the best way to do it, some tricks may be possible with good positioning. For example, I am prettu much sure that in Aglar’s run it’s possible to reach the top ground by double-jump after the loop, because I nearly did it myself. Sadly, “nearly” is not “did”. If I succeeded, it would save 2-3 frames, as I remember, and *maybe* would give a better Y subpixel value, enough to jump to the rock using 2-frame jump…
Also, I love your new MGZ, very smart use of the monitor and very nice clip. Poor camhack though :'(

Let me guess: you performed the horizontal underflow a bit higher, just enough to land on that ground afterwards without the spindash and the big jump?

Good job! With Amy, this boss is easy as hell, nearly impossible to NOT make it frame-perfect… :)
Congrats on having your run using death to save time now.
0:36.02 is so close to 0:35 — usually when I get such kind of result, I try my best to make it an in-game second faster — because it looks visibilly cooler.
Also, your method to beat MGZ boss is 202 frames faster than mine, I need to redo this boss fight in my Amy@S3K WIP now :)

Googling gives tons of examples of how to convert series of images into a video, but almost no examples of «hot» encoding. Hereare 2 of a few examples of frame buffer encoding.
Also, 2 of my colleagues worked with ffmpeg, but not me.

Yeah, this boss is annoying, especially with a huge character like Amy (though the DEZ1 boss is even worse). I can’t say for sure what exactly is the best pattern of moving to defeat it, it needs making different attempts and taking the fastest of them.
Also, only 14014 frames for now, but already almost 40000 rerecords, I am deeply impressed by the amount of effort you put into this, it is crazy!
Good thing is that HCZ2 is probably going to be one of the “easy” levels, and you’ll be able to take some rest while TASing it :)
