The naming event is over since 1/7. It took me a couple of days to collect the names from the contributors and to finalize the novel. In the end four people contributed and the following names can be found in the bonus chapter: Senna Dijkstra. Dick "Numbers" Goldberg. Molly Green. Albert "Aces" Charles. I know this is not a readers forum. It's just the forum most dear to me, and which I've been a part of (although lurking the last years) for a long time. The novel is still available to read for free at: kingshope.net and will be for about another month. Then the site will be deleted. It's also available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Kings-Hope-Hans-Olsson-ebook/dp/B07D9Q8LR2 If you have a chance to review it, please do :) Well, thanks for your time and interest!

We've passed halftime for the name-a-character-event. Don't miss out on reading and commenting for a chance of naming a character in the novel. I wish you an exciting read! Best regards Hans

Hello! As you might already know I'm an author. I've finally managed to get my novel King's Hope translated from Swedish to English. It's a poker thriller. How would you play poker, if your life depended on it? Right now I have a competition of sorts going. If you read my novel and let me know if you find improvements, perhaps a word can change or if you just have general feedback, you have a chance to name one out of four characters in a completely new bonus chapter, exclusive for the English version. For a limited period of time, until 1:st of July 2018, you can read the novel for free at: http://kingshope.net/ or if you prefer to read it on Kindle you can get it from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D9Q8LR2/ When this period ends I will randomly select four people to name the characters. When this novel becomes a movie you don't want to miss this option out! :) The plot: The big drought in Portugal had unforseen consequenses worldwide. Revolutionary reforms were introduced, globally and locally, which changed the world. From the dust arose casino King's Hope. The annual poker tournament is held at the casino and attracts participants from all over the world. Promises of wealth are offered to the ones who enter the contest. The rules in the tournament are simple. Texas hold'em no limit is played during ten poker rounds. But the tournament in King's Hope is dangerous and the smallest mistake could be fatal. The fast elimination pace forces the 10.000 participants to make extremely hard decisions. Should they go all-in with the cards they have, or wait and hope for a better hand? Peter Norrqvist participates for personal reasons. In the world outside the casino you are easily forgotten. If he manages to make it to the final, this could change. He could be immortal. How would you play, if your life depended on it? - - - I'll be very happy to answer any questions you might have as best as I can. Thank you, and I wish you an exciting read! Best regards Hans

Hello! I wasn't sure I should create a new topic or using this existing one, but this seems appropriate enough. Today I'm launching a Kickstarter project in order to translate my novel King's Hope from Swedish to English. The project will run for a month, with end date of: Feb 28 2017 King's Hope is a thriller, about a deadly poker tournament, and it has been compared with The Hunger Games and Battle Royale. My financial goal is to raise money for the translation itself, and to print an exclusive small edition, which will mainly go to backers of the project. It's quite a large sum that is needed for this project. But, for example, only about 300 people need to pledge for the level I call ”The Full House”, which includes a signed copy of the translated book, for the project to be successful. I think that is very doable, and I'm very excited to finally be able to launch the project and see what will happen. If you want to support me and my project I would be very grateful if you could share information about it on your Facebook, or other channels. The link to the Kickstarter-project is: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1464755039/translating-novel-kings-hope-the-deadly-poker-tour About half of King's Hope is published online at www.kingshope.net . If you want you can get a readable approximation of the novel by using Google Translate: https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=sv&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=sv&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fkingshope.net%2Fomgang1%2Fkapitel%25201-3.html&edit-text=&act=url I take no responsibility for the quality of the Google translated text :) I will also share updates and other information in the following channels: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1464755039/translating-novel-kings-hope-the-deadly-poker-tour www.facebook.com/hansolsson.forfattare www.kingshope.net www.hansolsson.net Well, I think that's it for now. Let's see where this ends up, and in the meantime I wish you a happy February! Thank you! Best regards Hans Olsson

Ah, so if it were several kings, it would be without an apostrophe. Cool! I've learned something new. Thank you very much!

Hi, guys! I have a grammar question I hope you might help me with. I'm working on a new novel and is currently contemplating about the title. The title of my novel is "Kings Hope". And here starts my predicament. Kings Hope is the name of a casino in Sweden. Hence it's a Swedish name, although with an English spelling. My question is: Is it spelled "Kings Hope" or "King's Hope"? I have not been able to find a great answer on google. Thanks in advance! /Hans

Some time ago I asked if someone could proof read my short story, that was a contribution to an upcoming science fiction anthology, written in English by Swedish authors. My short story is called "Melody of the Yellow Bard". The anthology is soon to be released, 6/5. You can read more about it here: http://www.affront.se/bocker/waiting-for-the-machines-to-fall-asleep/ Thanks.

That's a good question, which I apparently omitted! It's 26 pages, 1.5 points of line spacing. So for a short story it's fairly long, but not extremely long.

Hello, Tasvideos! As some of you might know I'm an author, with five novels behind me. Recently I was asked to contribute to a sci fi anthology. The anthology consists of short stories, written in english by swedish or swedish speaking authors. I have now finished a short story that I'm satisfied with. I've come to realize though, that since english is not my native language, it's very challenging to have the same feel for the language as you have with your own native language. Hence there is bound to be risks for bugs in my text, and this is the reason for this post. I would like to ask if there's anyone here, that has english as his or hers native language (or that is extremely skilled), that would like to proof read my short story? I have a deadline to meet, so if you are up for this you'll have to read it in a few days. I can't offer much for it, but if this sounds interesting, please give me a pm and I can share more details, should I've omitted something here that slipped my mind :) The anthology will be called "Waiting for the Machines to Fall Asleep". One can read more about the publisher here: www.affront.se, although the information is in swedish. Thank you very much for your time! BR Hans Olsson (Walker Boh)

I know I had another topic for this, but was unable to find it... Anyway! As some of you might know I'm an author. I've written a fantasy serie called "Elementstenarna" ("Elemental stones") and now I can prodly announce that my fantasy trilogy is completed! My last book is called "Stenväktarnas arv" (The Stone guardians legacy) It was a long, but awesome, twelve year journey. The plot is something along these lines: Two thiefs meet by accident during a mission to steal a mysterious stone (vattenstenen/water stone). They got the mission from an old man called Valgone, and are now dragged into a chain of events that turn out to be bigger than they can forsee. Valgones mission is to prevent the evil Garland to get his hands on these elemental stones, because if he gets them he will sink the world into a darkness that no one really understands the extent of. On their journey they encounter deserters, monsters, borgaler, a mysterious girl and... Well, other things. The first book starts of as classic, heroic fantasy. The plot gets deeper and greyer in book two, and in the final one... We'll see! What might be of interest here is where I got most of my inspiration. I really love modern authors such as Joe Abercrombie and George RR Martin, but most inspiration comes from games! Such as World of Warcraft, Dark Souls, Castlevania and Final Fantasy, to mention a few. Games nowadays are such a great source of inspiration and story telling. If anyone is interested in checking the latest book out you can find it on my site: www.hansolsson.net or google. The only negative part, I guess, is that I write in swedish :) Well, thanks for your time, and if you read my books, enjoy!

I loved this. As many has stated earlier it's just like the game gives up. "No, stop doing that weird shit. No more fishes pleases! No more weird Yoshi duplication tricks and certainly no more random spit sounds while at the same time nothing is spit out!!! I give up, just go to The End already."

Hello Tasvideos! For you who are interested (and swedish, I guess) I can now proudly present my latest book: Bronstornet Garba. It's the second book in my fantasy serie "Elementstenarna", (which translates to "The elemental stones"). The story continues directly after the first book in the series. The story for this one is (translated from the back of the cover): "The two thieves Tar and Tife are back in the city of Argovona after having helped Valgone find three elemental stones. Tar is tormented by a mysterious feeling. It burns him from within and threatens to destroy him. The only solution seems to be to find the mysterious healers in the Dkroi desert. But do they exist at all and do they have the answer? After the battle in Vargpasset, the venloric general Produs rides towards Collcott. His mission is to get king Stogack to sign a peace contract between the two contries. But problems arrise immediately when king Stogack is very ill, while at the same time something dangerous approaches from the west. Valgone has set his mind on destroying the threat from the evil Garland. To achieve this he needs help from an old friend in Golyar. Can they stop Garland and protect the remaining elemental stones from his clutches?" Well, I still write in swedish, so unfortunately I guess most of you guys can't read my book, even if you wanted to. But well, its done none-the-less! :) If you want to check it out one can order it online, for example from the publishers site: http://booksondemand.e-butik.se/fantasy-sci-fi/elementstenarna-del-2-bronstornet-garba Also, my first book is available online for free, for those who wants to check that out: http://www.hansolsson.net/Sokandet-efter-elementstenarna-Hans-Olsson.pdf I also have a facebook page for me as an author, but pm me about that one if you are interested. Thanks for your time, and much pleasure if you read it!

Super Meat Boy! This game is the most awesomest game I've played in a long long time. It's not Xbox exclusive, and I've been playing it on my PC using Steam, but I know it exists on Xbox. In short it's a great and HARD platformer, where all you do is run and jump. Basically :) Well, I can really recommend this to anyone interested in a game challenge.

Hello again TASvideos! I can now proudly announce that my second book is done and published! It's a collection of short stories, 11 of them to be exact. The title of this book is "Vad är din hemlighet?" which translated to english means "What is your secret?" The short stories are of various length and content, and only two of them being fantasy ones. So it's very fun and exciting to write something different besides my fantasy serie! A few examples of short stories is "Fungor Vitae", in where a woman wakes up at a hospital without being able to speak and with no memory. But she soon realize that something is very wrong. And another is the short story with the same title as the book, "Vad är din hemlighet?" where a man becomes obsessed with finding a good secret. The "problem" though, is that it's only in swedish again. I'm still very happy that it's done and completed :) If you want to have a look it's available at for example Books on Demands site, which is also the print company I used: http://booksondemand.e-butik.se/show_product.asp?artnr=2110 I haven't had time to add it to my homepage yet, in case someone looks there every now and then ( www.hansolsson.net ). But I will as soon as possible. Well, thanks for taking the time to look into it this far at least!
