FCEu just crashed so im taking a break now. But I have almost obtained the first crown with Xemn with a time of aproximately 6:30. I can't compare that with my previous run but I think it's pretty good now.

Not yet. I just spended one hour to get a speed scroll, just to find out that it is pretty useless and not worth the time collecting ;P That's because of all the blocks that has to be moved around.

The ladder part looked nice, the "enemy-at-holes" part looked nice aswell but I doubt I will earn much from this, and I doubt I can trick enemies to act like I want all the time. I'll try it though.

That was quite some work! Well, thanks guys. Some of the things you mentioned I already knew and some where new. I'll try to make something good out of all this. I'll report tomorrow, then I should have got something else then magic refills ;)

Ah ok. Well, then I think the boots is useless anyways. I also got a pretty good idea about the run now. Just need some heavy luck manipulation to get rid of all magic refills ;P Big thanks for all the help!

So the girl jumps higher then Roas? I didn't tried much to get up there with him but the tries I did failed. But then it's probably better to get the bots anyways? I have started v2 now but it's gonna take more time then I had expected. Much because randomness is so stupid. Im almost full at magic but all enemies refuse to give me anything than magic refills. Bah

Im about to start making version 2 now. But I already encountered a small problem. I couldn't make that jump you showed without the spring boots with Roas (or whatever his name is). So it turns out that I must have the boots anyways?

Besided all those new ways to do this I now have some questions about other things. Someone mentioned a ladder in Xemn's area which would save time, where is that? The best way to descend the long (almost first)ladder was falling, right? Even though I'll have to crash and bounce.

But it seems like it is possible to skip the spring boots anyways?! That's cool, where can I buy the wing boots in mothers area? I can't check it up right now but it really sounds cool.

Okay, I've done some testing on that ladder at the entrance. It seems that it's fastest to fall from the top, avoiding the ladder, and moving to the right as soon as possible without hitting that platform with the scorpion, even though you bounce twice (at least with Xenm; I'll have to test with Lyll). Looks like you were right with Xenm and Roas. With the mother you could switch to the wings at the last moment and avoid bouncing.
Yeah, I didn't think about the wings actually. One concern I had with these is that they drain magic all the time. In my "current" run I was happy that the timing was perfect when I reached the last Inn with the mother. This can be fixed I believe. I don't know where the frame counts refer too so I can't answer all of your suggestions.
Ferret Warlord wrote:
11000: Falling to the left of the ladder instead of moving to the right would be faster.
I don't know where you mean. Sorry
Ferret Warlord wrote:
30000: There are some fake walls above the ones you used that would allow to to bypass the oncoming ladder. Would it be faster using that route?
Same here, sorry.
Ferret Warlord wrote:
56000: Must you stop on those appearing blocks?
This is near the crown with Lynn, right? Yes I must stop on these. Or, the blocks doesn't allow me to move until they have appeared.
Ferret Warlord wrote:
73400: Was that delay in grabbing the cross luck manipulation?
Yes it was. I figured that even though it would take some extra seconds it was worth it because I finally got the speed scroll. And yes, I tried to kill almost all enemies around there lots of times to get a scroll, that was the best I could do at the time.
Ferret Warlord wrote:
82400: Jump down that pit instead of equipping the wings and walking down it. It would be faster.
I don't know where this is, probably with the mother though. I'll fix it.
Ferret Warlord wrote:
89000: Saving one key would have been faster than killing an enemy right before the crown.
Yeah, I'll fix that.
Ferret Warlord wrote:
1. Wouldn't more liberal use of the jump boots in Lyll's area be helpful?
Maybe, with the route I used now I had trouble with the magic. I was a the boss first and he drained my magic so I just stand there frustrating and couldn't kill him ;P Jumping boots drains one magic per jump. But I'll check it out.
Ferret Warlord wrote:
2. Equip the wings as the mother (I can never remember her name) at the last possible moment to avoid bouncing as often as possible.
I'll fix that.
Ferret Warlord wrote:
3. I believe you could use the crowns to warp towards your destination, but I'm not familiar with where the paintings take you.
Maybe, I'll check it out.

I personally like how you beat the second boss with only one hit left. Very smooth! ;)
Thank you ;)

Must be frustrating, spending all that time getting it right just to be shot down. I know how it feels. :p
Word, but it's good to have suggestions so I can try to make a better run.

The idea would be to play the father first and along the first path towards the glove grabbing the money out of the chest and then using it to buy the magic key in the shop above Keela (the dragon) using the glove to push the block out of the way and flying enemies to get up to it
Could be a good idea. I figured taking Pochi first would be the natural choice because the glove is in his path. But it isn't really and you are probably right about the money bag. However, doing this might mean I have to collect more gold. I'll check it up.
Brose wrote:
Also after defeating the bosses it starts you on a tiny bit of stairs which you seem to normally climb up wouldn't it be faster to jump up?
Maybe. I'll try it.
Brose wrote:
think it would be best to grab the spring boots last so that they start on.
A bit same problem here as with mothers wings. They drain magic with every jump. I tried this first but ended up having problems getting items and stuff. I'll check it out however. Thanks for tips and ideas!

I found this with using search. I hope it's the right thread ;) Anyways, I canceled my submission of this game because I now know it can be improved a bit. However, based on my prevoius run, do you guys have any other suggestions to make it better? If so, tell me and I'll see what I can do about it.

I will do a new run since that shortcut with the Sphinx will save quite some time. If you got any other suggestion I'll glad to hear them. Oh, and if you mean the block that is the huge one above Keela's painting (the dragon) I think the falling/crashing part there is an issue with the characters. Most of them canät make the long jump down to the ground level there without middle landing on the smaller platform high above the ground, this means I sort of have to crash twice. I can probably start with version 2 in a week. Sorry for submitting a bad run apparently =/

Thanks for comments. The big ladder at the beginning of the dungeon is a problem, the reason why I bumped into the block at the end of it is because then Im slightly more to the right and thus on my way into the dungeon. The ladder itself it's not safe to navigate in to because I will crash into it like the block, so I have to either be totally to the left of the ladder and crash to the ground, or do it the way I do now. Maybe the left option is the better.. I think I went to the left because I didn't want to bump up a screen. I found it annoying. Maybe that was a bad decision. About the ladder where I grab the key with the pet. Items will not fall down on keys, that's why I had to wait. And yes, I tried almost every enemy I passed to get that key but that scorpion was the best I could do without waiting unnecessary long. Hmm, mothers area might be improved a bit but I was satisfied with the outcome anyways since I could use one of the last Inns to refill mana and energy without any problems.

Cool map. Problem is, and I can't test it at the moment (not sitting at my computer), when I have equiped the spring boots where you marked the INN, I don't think I can make that jump because I don't remember any enemies at that screen and I don't think the height will be enough. If I can't make that jump your route is unfortunately not good since I need the spring boots up there (near the crown) and at the route I have now I avoided some useless backtracking. If however that jump turns out to work it would be great! I will investigate this in time. Thanks for suggestions anyhows.

1. You kill a bunch of enemies with no apparent rhyme or reason. What's the deal? .
This is to try to manipulate luck and item dropping. Sometimes enemies refuses to drop things if 1-3 enemies before are alive.
Ferret Warlord wrote:
2. When falling down that big ladder at the entrance, instead of going all the way to the right and missing that block, you hesitate and smack right into it, sometimes bouncing twice as a result. Is there a reason for this? With the mother you could have equipped the wings at the last possible moment at that point and not bounce; it certainly would have saved a bit of time. .
This is if I understood your question an issue with the characters. The only character that allows higher jumps (almost) is Lynn (the girl). The others will crash. It could be some luck manipulation involved but I don't know exactly where you mean.
Ferret Warlord wrote:
3. As Xenm, the fater, wouldn't it have been faster to enter the room with the mattock from the far right and bypass that ladder altogether? .
Possible, I don't know where you refer to though =/

Thank you Ouzo! Great to hear you liked it. My mistakes however bothers me a bit. I know it can be improved a bit but I don't know if I have the time for it now. Anyways, glad to hear someone likes it!

Haven't watched it (sorry), but I like the idea. This game has bugged me since forever and I have never managed to complete it. The instruction book says something weird like "In stage P there is a hidden boss".. Something like that. So if you manage to complete this game that would be awesome! Atleast I think so.

Yes that would be possible. But that could take some time.. Maybe 1-10 seconds depending on how the boss behaves. I think it would be a bad idea to waste maybe 5 seconds each time to get another piece of gold when I just can beat him up really fast. Nice idea but I don't think I can win any time with it.

I have to kill the first boss a couple of time to get all the money I need to buy wing boots, a queen key and a better sword. Every time I hit the boss he will be pushed backwards, so if I were to wait for him to not be in the corner the fights would be longer. And since I still have to fight him a couple of times I don't think it's worth the waiting.
