That actually totally slipped my mind, that it also takes extra time to write out the name every time someone mentions it. But I still think it would make runs have a more appealing look ;)

I watched half of this WIP before falling asleep, but that wasn't because it was boring but because I was tired at the moment ;)
Anyway, I'm very glad to see that you made this run! It's a great game and it brought back many memories from when I played this several years ago. Awesome!
I have one thing to complain about though. I'm sure it's been debated before but I think it needs some more attention. It's the choice of the characters name!
The name "A" is indeed the fastest way to pick a name for most games (same for Mystic Quest to Game Boy where both characters were named "A") but it's so boring to watch! To give each character a somewhat personal name gives the run/movie a much more appealing look and it could also help the watchers to follow the story.
Are we so desperate to save a few frames, which doesn't matter for the run itself, that this is the best solution? I vote no to that. And if someone beats a run with a few frames because of a shorter name decision I think something is wrong anyway.
With that said I'd like to thank you again for making this run! Awesome!

I bet that was to not trigger the secret star to appear.
Anyhow, is this a WIP on the full run, or did you start with the 16-star run? I hope it's the full run because I so badly want to see that ;) And I don't want to watch any WIP's because I'd like the whole experience at once. In any way, keep up the awesome work Foda!

I watched the dual avi that DeHacked encoded. Anyway, I'm on the side that thinks that this frame hunt has gone way too far, so I don't know what to think about this run. Sure, it's cool and all that it was improvable but to me it looked pretty much like the same run.
When I first got into this community it was about entertainment but now it's pure speed that is important it seems. I'm not really fond of how it has turned but that's another story and from what I've seen in this thread most of the arguments have already been brought up.
I don't know if I'll even vote but if so I'll probably vote "meh". It's faster, great, but it's the same run to me and it didn't add any new entertainment. Sorry but good job Donamer.

I second Boco's and DJ Fozzbozz's opinions! I also love this game. It was several years since I played it but it's one good game for sure! I most certainly would vote yes if I had seen the run, but I haven't yet. Anyway, I'm really really happy to see that this has finally been made! Awesome!

I still don't think it's possible until someone proves me wrong. I've tried that jump loads of times, taking damage, swinging weapon etc etc. It's different from where one get's the missiles because there are more blocks there. The missile jump is only one block to overcome, here it's two and three iirc.

You mean, before entering the dam area that leads to the dam? Where the door is at the top left corner and one has to run far to the right first to get on the uppermost platforms? If that's the door you mean it's not possible to reach it. Until someone proves me wrong of course.

I didn't had the energy to read the huge amounts of text above this post but I must say that it's awesome that someone finally makes a run of this awesome game! I had it on my todo-list but never got to do it so this is really awesome. I bet it has been said already, but as I remember it the battles are manipulative so that you don't have to have any random encounters at all. Anyway, good luck with the run! Can't wait to see it!

I just got home and found this. This run was actually much better than I had expected and Nitsuja showed some tricks that I hadn't thought of. In my old run I made some (well, quite many) choices to not take as much damage because I thought that would look sloppier, but apparently it doesn't. Nice! But I think it is improvable further and I will certainly try to improve it. I don't however like this feeling that I must do it, so I won't rush with it.
Anyway, in a way I'm happy that it was Nitsuja who beat my old run and not someone else ;)
I agree to this.

Besides doing TAS'es I study "computer science". Trying to learn how to program and much math. I don't know if it's ultimate for me but that's what I do. On my free time, besides the TAS'ing, I like to play WarCraft 3 and just recently I've started World of Warcraft too. I don't know if I will play WoW utterly much though because I think that's dangerous to school stuff ;)
I also like to collect games, and I have about 140ish something NES cartridges and a bunch of SNES, GB, PS1 and N64 games. I don't have infinite money though so I haven't bought any new old games for awhile.
I also like to read and write, but gaming tends to come first.

You guys are probably right, but then I'd like to also nominate Foda! He has done some impressive runs and just recently discovered a new cool glitch in Mario 64 which was, as I understood it, completely unknown.

Re-records ain't everything. I found the movie great. I played this as a kid but haven't played it at all since then, so I remember it as a kinda hard game (even though it's not). This run makes it look like it's really easy though ;)

If kind words can motivate you to work faster, how much kind words would it take to have you finish the run in.. say.. one week? I'm prepared to type all night if needed :p
