Well it's not that fantastic since Red Scarlet and other famous speedrunners have already performed this trick exactly at that point in the game back on the SNES, simply because there is no faster way of grabbing that super missile pack. :) If you're interested, have a look at the SDA, they've got it all.
Aha, I did not know that. Sometimes I get confused over the amount of Super Metroid movies out there, and unfortunately I usualy watch the TAS'es when there are several to choose from, even though speedruns is very impressive too. Anyway, I think it's cool that this trick is showable and useful in a speedly movie of some sort.

I would say the next update will be in at least 2 weeks till one month. And no, Ridley will be the first boss I will face (he is normaly last but I do a Reverse Boss Order run as already known therefor the Boss Order is: Ridley, Draygon, Phantoon, Kraid). Ridley will definitely be the hardest part of the entire movie because I not only fight against him but also against the heat which drains my energy constantly during the entire fight ---> means I will only have a very limited amount of time to kill him and this even without Plasma and most likely without Super Missiles.
Yeah, I remember that you did a reverse boss order run, I just didn't think of it, and as you said, Ridley is usually the last boss before Tourian. Anyway, that teaser you posted where you got the speed shoes sure raised my pulse wondering if you would make it out alive ;) So I'm really looking forward to see what you can do vs Ridley with limited time.

About the Crystal Flash: Yes, I regain energy from Missiles (10 each, but 11 Power Bombs). There is no other way to get the Super Missiles without fighting Spore Spawn as JXQ already said. The Crystal Flash is (or was in the 90's) a very rare and top-secret technique. Back in the 90's we only have seen it in one of the demo-scenes at the beginning of the game (when you not press start and wait) and never could find out ourselfs how to perform it, thats why I bought a entire "Top-Secret" Guide to only find out how it works :-)
I remember this too, spending hours watching that sequence and trying to figure out how to do it. I never bought a guide for it but I've never used it much since I learned how to do it, and I don't think I really know how to perform it today, except the fact that you need to be low on health and have some supplies left. Fantastic though that you can use it in your TAS. This is definately one of my most anticipated runs now ;)

That sounds awesome Saturn! So how long is it left? Is it only Ridley left before Tourian? Also, that Crystal Flash, is it when Samus regains health from her supply of missiles and stuff? Because that would be fantastic to see in a TAS because first it's a really cool trick in the game, and secondly, its rarely seen and used. I never uses it anyway when I play the game ;)

I've learned to ignore the re-record counter. It takes as many re-records it takes to finish with something eventually. And if you spend a 1000 (yes) re-records on something and discovers it was useless 2 minutes later it's no big deal.

You can not spin off the ghosts that fade away. Even when they are not faded.
Ya, I know that, but I thought that with tools it might be possible to manipulate ghosts to appear where you want them to and jump upwards, but perhaps it's still to high.

For SMW, right off the top of my head Donut Ghost House Secret Exit can't be done without a cape. Unless you uncover something really really wierd.
I came into this thread just a minute ago and read it briefly. This exit though, can't one spinjump on ghosts? Or is it impossible to get high enough to reach the ledge? Or make the screen scroll upwards so more ghosts higher up will appear? Besides that I actually like the idea! Mario levels are usually clevered designed and with flying, even though that's also impressive, you miss quite much of the game.

Also my second last hit might look a bit sloppy but I had to swim in that evil electric sea-grass (?) to be able to use the same turtle (he's pretty useless anywyas ;P) to die with.
That hit was deliberately to lose health so that Raphael could die faster on the next level, right? I think you could have also switched from Donatello to Raphael one health point earlier, and avoided taking that hit (just to look less sloppy).
Ok

I voted yes, even if there's an upcoming version. I liked the boss battles the most I think because even if it should be obvious I've never though about using the cat ladies energy ball for it.

That's up to you two. I still vote for Torn to redo his run. Edit:

Possibly on various minor optimizations. Or some shortcut that I'm not aware of.

I thought like Phil. It looks good and it's a big improvement, but I too think it's possible to improve it very much further. I should vote yes because of the improvement but I think I vote yes for Torn to redo his run instead.

I don't blame you at all if there is a possible 5 seconds of improvement during the entire run. It's gonna be awesome in any case!

And I mean, 183 seconds improvement... Of course I'm voting Yes, no questions at all. I have one stupid question though: When either Chip or Dale dies, they come back flying a balloon. Is it possible to control them when they are flying the balloon, or are their movements totally random?
I do that all the time. Controlling them that is, else it would be quite useless.

At the mine cart level there was a lot of lag that could be cut if one of the characters died, but you ran out of lives, so i don't see any problem with the run. yes vote!
It's true that I ran out of lives, but dying wouldn't have helped me while riding the mine cart either. I don't get to hover while I'm on the track and not really close to the end. I just end up back on the mine cart again.

That was among the craziest things I've ever seen! I used to play this game a LOT (!) but I never knew that many kills where possible on the first planet alone. I got 160ish something on console and thought that was pretty good ;) I can't wait for the TAS of this.

Me too! I read someones signature that his or hers future project would be this game. I sure hope someone is doing this though because it's one of my favourite games of all time!

Beating Gogo in FF5 as fast as possible without doing nothing (!) would be awesome to see! But I guess once can't be too low leveled when facing him. His meteors are evil.

EDIT: Thanks Walker. It takes time to make such a run because the optimizings require much testings. If I do it faster the quality of the run may be lost, but I do my best to progress in the run step by step.
Ya I know. Take your time man. Testing different stuff is time consuming, but it pays off in the end. Good luck though!

I don't know the game at all. I think I saw the movie once but that's it. I thought that all games should be played on hard if that was an option, but since it's already played on normal I guess it should be played on normal again.

I read that it also could be the name of a coder. Or rather, he's name was Narsomething. It's cool though.

So who is Narpa, and is there something special about his sword?
