I just watched this and it's awesome! The thing I liked most was in world 4, on the airship when you trapped yourself and you jumped to the music! A very simple thing but it made me smile ;)
I didn't like the two deaths in world 2 though, but it doesn't really matter, and since it was faster it doesn't matter even more. Awesome! Now I want to see a full wellmade run of this great game ;P
Oh, and another thought hit me. In the movie Matrix, when Neo wakes up in the real world and when he's being sucked downards there should be a hatch closing. I think I saw a documentary about that sound the hatch makes when its closing. It was made from like 80 different sounds such as perhaps flushing a toilet and various other sounds, combined into this one hatch-closing sound. Well, despite their effort I must say that one of the greatest sounds ever invented is the 1-up sound!

I think all three courses should be included. Else it just half done in my opinion. And also I really would like to see this done! So keep it up! Awesome.

I can't believe I missed that. I guess I just assumed that screen was unskipable because I never managed to find the right keypresses at the right frames for it. And yes, I did tried it more than one time, but not enough apparently. It's not good, but that's the way it is at the moment. And yes, I too will redo this run. But again, I'm not made of free time and school is starting to start up so I don't know when I can do it.

I could imagine that the desynch while playing the fcm-file is either a bad ROM or a different version of the emulator. But I don't really know.
Edit: I just checked the fcm and it runs fine with FCEu here. Do you have Teenage Mutant NINJA Turtles? Instead of Teenage Mutant HERO Turles? That's one reason I could think of.

I managed to get into the technodrome as a kid, but then I never got further. Bad news about VideoLan though =/ Then I have no idea what the problem is. Sorry.

Well. I only have VideoLan (8.2 or whatever version it is) installed and it worked with that. I like VideoLan very much because since I started to use that there have been very few files I have been unable to play (mpg's, avi's etc). But if more people experience this I don't know what the problem could be. I don't have much knowledge about stuff like this at all unfortunately.

I talked to Angerfist the other day and he seemed to have the same problem. I however could play the avi fine with VideoLan (the latest version) so I don't know what the problem is unfortunately =(
I also don't know what causes your desynch, the file should play correctly. Anyone with more knowledge about this than I?

I played this game through a couple of months ago, just to see what game it was. Unfortunately I found it incredible boring. The "warp"-glitch made it easier to play, but then the boss levels wasn't fun at all, and by your submission text it sounded like you played only those. I haven't watched your run, but unfortunately I think the game isn't very good for a TAS. Sorry.

Ah ok. I agree to that though, I would never see the difference. I haven't watched either of the runs but I don't think I would vote yes on this, sorry. Nice try though,

Thanks guys! Yeah, 2 players makes it more fun to watch. Even if there are some unavoidable waiting parts (waiting for a cloud or something) the other player can do something meanwhile. And it's faster since they can help each other.

But what's the point of dying then? Say that you reach the checkpoint, kills a bunch of enemies, dies, and then you are back at the checkpoint with reseted count? I mean, the count you had when you got to the checkpoint. The only thing that sounds good with this is that you get bombs, but you lose the laser and it wouldn't look cool. Or am I wrong here? It was a while since I played this masterpiece.

I voted no. This type of game is hard to make interesting. Gradius is interesting/entertaining because it's a well known game and it's damn hard. I don't know about this game though. And it was way too boring to keep me interesting for more than a few minutes. I fastforwarded and looked briefly at parts I thought could be cool, but they really didn't caught my attention. I'd rather cast my vote for Section Z, since this was similiar in the horisontel levels. That's a game I'd like to see TAS'ed!

Sure, that's possible and a "good" way of getting the story. But I wouldn't do that since that would be lots of pausing during the run and I'd like some fluency when I watch things. But yeah, it's possible ;)

In every TAS or speedrun I've seen of a RPG, the dialogoues is scrolled as fast as possible, which IMO is not fun at all. The main part of a RPG is the story, which is brought forward by dialogues. It was quite some time now since I played FF4 on any system, but I can't imagine that the dialogues would be any slower here. Thus I wouldn't mind seeing a glitch I've never seen before because the story is sort of doomed anyway, because of the fast text ;)
