I haven't watched it all yet, just until Planet X File. So far he has gotten all the clocks I think, but he is ignoring a lot of GCs.
So far he abuses the bounce from breaking ACME boxes and killing enemies in interesting ways, it reduced a lot of box usage (the small stepping boxes).
The added height from the dive is also abused in some instances to skip stepping boxes.
Also jumping when coming out of a roll apparently gives you a nice distance increase. (At least I didn't know this before).
A couple of other tricks he have used so far is "saving" timed bombs when dealing with those pirates in masts.
The way he fought Mugsey in The Greatest Escape was a nice strategy.
General damage/death abuse, some are quite interesting.
I probably forgot some things as well. It is a very rough speedrun, the time can come down some minutes, sub 1:50 should not be impossible.
EDIT:
The 4 skipped clocks are:
What's Cookin' Doc? ACME box clock
The 2 final clocks of Train Your Brain
Downhill Duck

We don't really have an emulator for it.
If there is a deterministic emulator out there that is open source someone could add TAS tools to it if they were interested.
There's also the alternative of writing one from scratch, but that requires a lot more time and dedication.
Personally the 3DO doesn't interest me.

At first it kinda died as the guy working on it stopped. But others have started the project (over?) and stuff has been happening in the last year.
Many things behind the "scenes" have been updated a lot, like the submission system etc, the submission system is working much better although there are still possible improvements. There also seems to be a bot-user in progress (SDAverification) (I am not sure if it is an actual bot, but it's purpose seem to be similar to TASVideosAgent).
Currently it seems like most of the time have been spent handling the marathon stuff. But the migration is happening, just at a slow pace.

To answer the original question: TASvideos does not hate SDA as a community, but I cannot speak for individuals. SDA members has helped TASers with their projects, knowingly or not, and vice versa. In a way the communities need each other to some degree.

Most nominations, but losing the poll :(. As a shameless attempt to promote myself, I'd like to remind all that the Warcraft II run was practically the 1st edition to the entire RTS genre, not just to that one particular game.
Unfortunately many fail to see the brilliance of that TAS.

Although I loved the run, isn't there also a blue ring in addition to the red ring, or is it like the Varia suit in Metroid Zero Mission where you collect the Gravity suit and the game gives it to you?

I assume it was already done, but did someone check for a pointer or offset to either a structure that could contain the speed value or the speed value itself?

The Incredible Machine - A sandbox game which was, in my opinion, far ahead of its time. Main goal is to arrange a given collection of objects for given task. If you're aware of Amazing Alex, that's it.
I love this series, used to have them on diskette/CD, then I moved and now I don't know where they are :(
My own addition:
PuzzPower (freeware) is pretty fun.
Might remember more games later.
