Provided that we are permitted any starting initialization for 0x780-0x7FF that we choose, then I have confirmed that sub-1:56 is possible. I still need to check a few things.
Would this choice of RAM initialization become part of the input file? (Would a NESbot be able to follow up on this?)
Unrelated, but would this also allow Cheetahmen II to play back using the original rom?
Doubt it. The way the bug in Cheetahmen II works is that the game can sometimes boot into the the last 2 levels if the RAM is dirty in the exactly right way. The TAS doesn't use a reset to achieve this, but a hack that fixes the bug.

Are you trying to play back the movie using a different exe?

The troubleshooting build for Super Hexagon is only supposed to write a minidump in the event that a DLL fails to load in such a way that the game throws an exception Hourglass cannot handle (which the game does for at least one core dll when launched in Hourglass). It also does not create stable movies etc. I doubt it would be useful for Dustforce. We however have made some progress on mouse support, it's unfortunately still not possible to tell if it's ever going to work properly but some games that didn't boot before now does. We still have issues getting the data to the game properly. And when it comes to Windows Messaging mouse input, we still have work to do on translating the coordinates, because currently we can't because of how the window-hooks are done. It also does not help that I have to focus on other things right now which gives me very little time to work on it. (Same goes for the others).

Happenst thou have time to find something for me? I'll look at it but much later unless I get what I requested, an actual link to a specific passage (or a couple in this case) in the run. Much appreciated in any case!
I was a bit in a rush when I posted that, then forgot to fix it. Sorry. [2089] Wii World of Goo by STBM in 31:30.88 Type: Full level. Level: Impale Sticky Why: Looks seriously impressive and is very likely impossible to do in real time. Clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=ucr3YpJPaR8#t=122 (until 2:24 in the encode)

Remember, TASes are supposed to be super-human, if the game accepts the input, then it's all fair to me. Otherwise we might as well ban maximum range on analog sticks and left+right on d-pads because in my opinion it's all the same abuse. (Input that wasn't intended to be possible)

Didn't think of that, then I have no ideas for that level.

That's too bad.

I feel that botting this level would be the best way to solve it, but I am terrible at writing bots, the only one I ever wrote did everything opposite from the rules without a clear reason to why.

This was quite entertaining, some very cool usage of damage boosts and glitches. Yes vote.

Looks really good! Keep up the great work. Was the YT screenshot chosen intentionally?

Getting a debit card must be simpler no? All of my contacts in the Netherlands have one, and they got it from their bank.

I don't have the money to buy that game right now, so I cannot test it. (I know I could pirate it, but I prefer to work with guaranteed official versions when I am testing for compatibility)

Thanks to your log files this is now possible: Huge image showing Hourglass running a mouse game: http://i.imgur.com/q7OzXVI.png The game is called Meteor and did not spawn a window before because before spawning a window, the game checked if you had a compatible mouse, and if not it would terminate. There is still A LOT to implement regarding mouse support, but... PROGRESS! Special thanks to Scepheo and a few other friends of mine who helped me get this far. For those of little faith, the game is freeware and can be gotten here: http://www.jbplay.com/games/meteor/ Try starting it in Hourglass r81. (Note: The game fails under Windows 7, don't know why)

If I remember correctly when the PS2 was new Sony demanded 8000 USD and required that you had released successful games in the past in order to supply you with the tools to develop games for the console and the licensing paper work. I do not think it's unreasonable that the fees/prices have increased over time.

So, I've gone through your 3rd WIP now (finally!). Fire 1: Why did you rotate the game world a 2nd time? I cannot see a direct reason to why it was done. Fire 7: If you collect all the CCW rotates, instead of 2 CCW and 1 CW rotate, and begin with the right side you should be able to speed up the gem collecting a bit by making the 2nd rotation of the game world earlier as the gems will fall into you. Water 1: I guess you don't have enough health to take a hit from both a squid and the shark? Water 3: Will this save additional frames over your improvement, this is the shortest path that I can find (with reservation for some falling behavior being misunderstood): (Sorry for the mess, if you zoom in it will be easier to understand it I think...) Water 14: Consider the gems from left to right numbered 1-7, wouldn't it be faster to collect gems 1-6 instead of 2-7? Overall you should save a few squares of walking.

You need those firmwares to run the games, they are required for the emulator to run them properly. I cannot tell you how to get them, but they are going around on the internet.

First off the game has to be 32 bit. Second there will only be mouse support for WinAPI and DirectInput (up to DirectX 9), if I can get it working at all, if a game uses a different method it will not be supported at this time. But there are also other problems with some games not spawning their windows or outright crashes before the process is started fully. No idea yet what causes either. Also I broke movies trying to improve the format for coming improvements to Hourglass, so they corrupt on close/open, need to fix that too. And more things like these. So it's far from ready to be used yet sadly.

Not the first time this has happened. In elementary school I was taught that choice is spelled as "choise" and used that spelling for 7 years before I was corrected. Thanks for the information.

Okay, done. Also, looks like the data is in pretty standard format, aside from I18N of axis/button names (and sometimes varying button count)... Good thing, isn't it?
Thanks for the edit. I had not had the time to look at them and compare yet, but I did just now and you are right, and this is very good, this means I can hard-code the communication between the TASing-DLL and the game. Linear execution time joy!
