I wish I could do a few ILs but the savestate issues are getting in the way. I could post the error log, but it's just some info about memory addresses, not too helpful. Win7-64 support is nonexistent for Hourglass right now so I guess all this is to be expected.
Please upload the log anyway, it could be useful. Hourglass should work fine on 64 bit systems, the only thing that will not work is TASing 64bit games.
Sure, here's the log. http://pastebin.com/gTX6j8VS The first savestate is at line 4619. After I tried loading it the video froze, and the frames kept going up in Hourglass if I tried to advance but nothing was happening in the game. Trying to load the savestate a second time crashed it.
Thank you, it had some useful information and I will check and see what might cause that. There's a chance that there might be a solution to it.

The movement looks really jerky at the start, is this the fastest way to navigate or something else?

Really nice that it saved time :) I will try to find the ROM and look at the VBM later.

The most common way is to end input when no further input is needed in order to spawn the credits.

I'm following the encodes and not the VBMs right now, might follow the VBMs later for the sake of RAM watch. When I see the level layout, I am thinking something like this: Where the blue trail ends on the green-colored square, that is when you turn the level, and then complete it. I am not sure if it could be faster or not, it looks like it would be on paper. If it's not faster, perhaps it can at least help you find a faster route. My route also assumes that the first boxed diamond will fall to the right of the stone.

Everything you see are just controller input and sometimes resets of the console, what makes the glitches happen is just timing everything really well, which is accomplished by using re-recording and frame advance, and sometimes also LUA bots. An actual TASer can probably explain in more detail how this works.

Not that I am aware of, but I think there has to be more games that does this, specially more complex games, and then it might not be only 1 frame off anymore.

At the end of level 7 you seemed to hesitate for a brief moment without good reason, why was that? (Around 2:36-2:39 in the encode) I am not sure about the route in level 8, the 2 final jewels especially, is it possible to collect them more "on route" if you collect them earlier? Otherwise it looks really good!

If I remember correctly you can 1-cycle the Inca Ruins boss if you are Freedan, or does the time it takes to become Freedan eliminate any gain from it?

This reminds me of an old java game I used to play in Elementary school, possibly took inspiration from the original version of this game. Very nice WIP, don't have any ideas for improvements, good luck with the rest of the game!

Oh hey so, the non-TAS route has been finished. Does anyone know where I should upload the text file? Is there a place on SDA for routes or anything?
SDA has pretty much the same topic system as TASvideos, locate the game thread on SDA and post it in there.

Oh, I was wrong, there's nothing you need the mouse for in Rogue Legacy. So if it works in hourglass... it can be TASed right now.
Then hopefully someone will start TASing it.

Mouse is currently not supported. It's being worked on, and hopefully we can provide it in the future. I will not give an ETA.

I too think it could be possible to make a Cheetamen II like exception for this game until better PSX emulation comes along. But just like Torn I am not staff here so I don't have any real power to make the decision final.

It doesn't work. You can't set memory addresses to values through RAM Search either. It's probably not implemented.

There seems to be a problem with Windows (when updated from an earlier Windows) keeping the old vmm.sys file over the Win8 one which causes the error, but since you didn't update, that doesn't seem like a probable cause. I have no idea why this is happening, I don't really understand the error thanks to Microsoft being idiots and making the BSoDs less informal than before :( Your best bet is uploading the Minidump to some Windows 8 support forum and ask if they can tell you why this is happening, and if it turns out to be Hourglass related, I will make a note of it.

Mouse support is being worked on but it takes time because the code is not easy to understand due to Nitsuja not leaving a lot of comments. We all wish he was around to explain things to us (or even help us code).

There is no joystick support either, as far as I'm aware.
There is joypad support, at least in the input scanning, but I don't know how good it is, it seems to be "converted" into key-presses (including the joystick angles) which feels very inaccurate. It could be that the game you are trying to TAS are reading the joystick input using a method that is not hooked. Could you tell me which game it is? We might be interested in adding it to the list of games for which are unsupported so we can test things against it.

Great, Windows found a way to make blue screens LESS informative! So a new thing to hate about Windows 8. Anyway, it seems that these kind of problems are related to Avast antivirus trying to pull something. Update avast. Disconnect from the internet, make a full scan, then shut Avast down (Fully). Reboot, still disconnected to the internet, make sure Avast is still fully shut down, run Hourglass again and see if the crashes stop.
. . . but I don't use avast. Do I still follow the same steps?
No, I checked again and there is a special case for errors in vmm.sys Did you update to Windows 8 from 7/Vista?

Blue-Screen Of Death on Windows 8 x64 (It happens on mine)
When during the program execution does the BSoD occur?
Loading States (sometimes saving too)
Turn off automatic reboot on blue screen, then tell me what the blue screen says. The save state one I believe could be that you are running out of RAM (Hourglass never writes the states to disk). The Loading ones can be restoring threads that Windows have decided are invalid. But no way to know for sure until I know what the blue screen says.
