It's a lot better, you have certainly understood the idea of playaround now. I still think that you shall limit yourself to only use one attack once. There is still room for more taunting, also try to juggle them a little. Another thing you can do are "impossible" combos (combos so complex they cannot be done in real time). Also look into glitches (there's a glitched reversal throw that some characters have, Heihachi can use his parry kick even after he's defeated) at so on. Abuse the fact that the game's hitboxes are TERRIBLE (it's possible to grab Law for a throw when he is performing his Frogman move), inflict massive damage by just touching someones toe. Stuff like that. If you have watched the Futurama episode The Farnsworth Parabox you may have noticed the phrase "Perfectly symmetrical violence never solved anything", create a draw match where you make Mokujin be the same character that you are facing (Ex: Eddy vs Eddy etc) and attack only on the same frame that he does, with the same attack as he uses (make sure both of you take equal amount of damage from the attacks). (These are just ideas, you are not required to follow them, though I think a TAS using these could be very entertaining) Only your imagination can set the boundaries for how silly / insane / impressive a fight can become.

Welcome to the forum Anita. To answer the questions: 1. Perfect grammar and spelling is not required, but if you are able to do it you should. We cannot enforce it as many of the members here are not native English speakers. 2. It all depends on which emulator you have chosen, some are easier to work with than others. Memory address searching is also quite easy to do once you know what you are looking for. LUA scripting can be rather hard but there are many tutorials, I think there is one on TASvideos as well. 3. Following the rules of the forum and using common sense should keep you out of trouble.

There is no problem starting from a memory card, the Metal Gear Solid TAS does this. But you will need a movie that will generate said memory card (it does not have to be good at all, this movie only needs to prove to the judges that said saved game can be generated by the game and does not need hacking). And you are not speedrunning the game here, you want to make a playaround. Ignore how long it takes to defeat an opponent, just do it in an entertaining and varied way (try to use each attack only once, this will force you to do many different). You should be fighting with each character once, a few even twice. (There are 20 fights in Arcade mode, and 16 possible characters). Perhaps even choose more battles per round so you get to show off more moves? Sadly this WIP (while a lot better compared to the first one) did not entertain me either, the fights lack a flow and some screwing around (taunting). Really toy with your opponent. Maybe you need to watch some of the Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat TASes on this site to fully grasp what I mean by that.

I am just as lapogne a bit worried about entertainment, but I am sure you can manage to find a solution. I wish you good luck and I will be looking forward to WIPs.

My main concern with the WIP is that you do not vary the move-set enough, it feels like you are just out to defeat your opponent as fast as possible instead of really playing with him. There are also many glitches and awkward moments that you should try to pull off in the most hilarious way possible. Don't forget that Mukojin can impersonate 16 characters, (excl. Anna [same moves as Nina], Dr. B, Gon and Ogre/True Ogre). There is really no point in using any other character than him, just manipulate luck in order to get the character you want. (Think Mortal Kombat and Shang Tsung).

The only category that should be accepted for this game is in my opinion a fully unlocked playaround where the player uses Mukojin to play vs the CPU on Very Hard in Arcade Mode. (Maybe have some Tekken Ball matches first which show off the few characters that Mukojin cannot impersonate). I have to say that I was not very entertained by the WIP.

It's not a proper tas in Crash Bandicoot sadly YSOTW all you did was put in the code it's actually would be better for a April Fools tas

There was a WIP made of the SNES version a long time ago. It plays back on the "snes9x-1.43-improvement15.3-win32" version of SNES9x which you can find in the emulators section. This is the topic with WIPs in it: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5145 I think there was also another topic but I cannot find it right now. I am not certain though but I think it was decided at some point that the SNES version was the one preferred for this game. (You may want to verify this before you begin if you want to have the TAS published here. It would suck to have it rejected for using the wrong version) Here are a couple of the easiest tricks that work in the SNES version at least (since this is the only version I have played): * Olaf and Erik will make a great duo when it comes to shortcuts. * Erik can use his dash without running by jumping first and pressing dash as he lands. * When falling great distances it's a good idea to take damage from the environment or enemies before landing (but not too early) when possible as it will reset the distance you have fallen, this will skip the crashed-into-the-ground animation. Another tip is to make (or find) maps of each level and noting where you find all the items you need. No matter how well you know the game, looking at a map may help you find possible shortcuts you didn't think of before. There is no version of this game that offers 3 player like there was on the first game (Genesis version). So you're limited to 2 players, there can (and most likely will) show up situations where you can switch rapidly enough between 2 characters that it will seem like a 3 player run, however, don't do this with normal walking as letting Erik dash ahead and follow with the others is almost always the fastest way of moving. Good luck!

I don't think the YT encode is complete. It ends after 10 minutes.

Then you first better pay good money to all the PCSX2 developers to make the emulator sync stable, currently there is no way of TASing PS2 games unless you are incredibly determined and can accept to restart almost every time you need to do a re-record.

Welcome to TASvideos Anch. The problem with SHUMP TASes is that the games have to be rather insane or glitchy to make interesting TASes since it's difficult to compete for pure speed. Other ideas could be to never kill the smaller enemies unless required and just circle them, and other kinds of shenanigans. You can upload your WIPs here for us to look at: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php and I am sure someone who knows more about this game or SHMUPs in general will give you feedback.

Uh..there's SDA (Speed Demos Archive) if you want to submit a speedrun there, but this site is for Tool Assisted Speedruns.
SDA does not accept games played on an emulator, I guess this is why he submitted here.

Could the PAL bios be what is causing the sound problem? (I don't know how PSXjin decides if a game is PAL or NTSC)

Perhaps runs that collect all of the extra content as well would be accepted? Note that you can't get all items in a single run...
It will take 3 (2½, but we cannot stop mid-game) play-throughs to collect every single item unless a glitch is found that allows the collection of movie reels that cancel each other out in the same play-through. While a 100% could be fun in theory, I wonder how many are prepared to sit through a TAS that beats a game 3 times for the sake of getting 100% completion.

This is really obvious and much needed in many cases. I am surprised it has not been brought up in the proper circles before. Brilliant idea, and it is nice to see that both lsnes and BizHawk is already adapting it. Great thinking turska, makes me ashamed for not have thought of it myself.

Soul Blazer had something like that for the 5th world, check the TAS here and see if that jogs any memories, otherwise I have no idea.

Opera 12 Beta or 11.62? (Opera 12 Beta is bugged to hell so if so it can be the fault of the browser)

I had a lot of those things happen to me, it was the YT web-uploader that gliched out. Happens quite often when you use Opera. FireFox is a little better.

I didn't think there was this much room for entertainment in this new route. I stand corrected. The Mido skip was just wonderful. Yes vote.
