With downtime I was mainly talking about waiting for platforms etc to be in position to jump on them.

Now this is starting to look really good! I am glad that my RAM watch file is of use. While I was looking for the velocity values I found that spinning under water makes Crash move at the speed of 3 for a short while, while he can only move at a speed of 2 while mashing A. See if you can combine these for a speedup. I also noticed that when invincible you move at a constant speed of 2, the same as regular running, avoid collecting unnecessary masks to the best of your extent. Jumping over a few of the AkuAku boxes may be faster than getting invincible in a few sections. When you have downtime, try to be entertaining, like ducking to the beat of the music, stuttering in weird patterns etc. It's better than just standing around looking like a statue. For future WIPs, do consider also posting the VBM, you can use microstorage for uploading the input files: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php

I see this is the same version as in the planning thread and I still have the same concerns. The movie is good as a draft but I find this too poorly planned to be accepted as a submission, already in world 2-1 you surpass the required score with 4050 points...
Submission wrote:
mushroom + ennemis's combo + shoot a shell 2x + coin + ennemis's combo + 1-up mushroom + koopa + fire flower + red coin + shoot a shell + ennemis's combo + koopa + goomba 2x + red coin + block? + goomba + block? + yoshi's egg + red coin + goomba + piranha plant 4x + koopa + para troopa + goomba x2 + coin 10x + para troopa + red coin + para troopa + block? + piranha plant + block? + red coin + flag(5) + timer = 44050/40000
The underlined segment yeilds 4200 points, wouldn't the time saved from NOT doing that give you those missing 150 (4200-4050) points in the timer->score conversion? I am not voting yet.

I really liked this TAS, though it seems it needs to be planned better if you want to submit it (and I do believe this challenge can get accepted). You overshot it with the score a bit in several levels (grabbing extra fireflowers when the score passes the requirement with more than 1000 points etc).

The slide-spinning and swimming didn't seem really optimal in your WIP. I threw together a watch-file for you that monitors X and Y velocity of normal + swimming levels and bonus levels. I spent 3-4 hours trying to find the values for the polar bear parts and the jetpack levels but no luck. Here you go: http://www.mediafire.com/?pzmka8a1csedecf I hope this helps you a bit. To load it, go: Cheats -> RAM Watch -> File -> Open, then choose this file.

Try the program Joy2key, it allows you to bind keyboard keys to joystick buttons etc. You can get the program here: http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm

That looks nasty. I assume you played this in PSXjin 2.0.2? It looks like an extreme case of Z-depth inaccuracy... A Z-depth inaccuracy means that the emulator fails to get the correct Z-value (how far away into the game world an object) of the graphics so it doesn't know what order to draw them. Which means objects will disappear or have stuff further into the game world drawn on top of them. Did you try to enable various graphical fixes (or combinations of them) in the Graphics Configuration? Does that improve anything or make stuff worse? Also try to enable the Error Console in the Options Configuration and see if you get any interesting errors.

Since all the popular games are nominated at least once already, I'll nominate only this one: [1889] SNES Nosferatu by Dooty in 18:05.03

Considering that this game seems to use the same engine as Shadowgate, is there a chance some item might be as glitched up as the glasses in that game?
