As far as I know the European and American version of this game is the same version.

Don't know how much it helps you but each ROM bank is 16 kilobytes (or 0x4000 bytes). Bank 0 (address range 0x0000-0x3FFFF) is always present, the other bank is switchable if the ROM file exceeds 32 Kb in size, the switchable bank have the address range of 0x4000 to 0x7FFF. Tables should be locked to a single bank. Logically functions in bank 0 can carry over into another bank, but functions can probably not carry over between switchable banks. (I have not studied this case a lot though)
I know about that, but that's the memory of the GBC itself. I want to know about the ROM as in which structures are actual code and which ones are tables and maps and graphics and such. I don't know the difference yet. I've just been plowing through block 0 and happened across the RNG. As for functions carrying over, the results can, but one function can't call a function in another block other than block 0 if I'm understanding it correctly.
To find graphics and maps you should look for load instructions pointing to the vram/oam and DMA transfer starts in the code. The source for those loads should be graphics. Also try to look through the rom in tile/map edtors for GameBoy. You can look at the pandocs to find the data structure of tiles and maps. Best way to find the executable code is to basicly just to trace it using a hexeditor and instruction reference or a disassembler. (I suggest a combination of both) What does not appear to be executable code or graphics should be various tables.

Well it is on GC, VC and PJ64. Mupen and N64 crash.
If it crashes on the real N64 it's an emulation error in PJ64 and should not work in Mupen. However, this might be a valid reason to be TASing the GC or VC version in the future as it has more interesting glitches.

I didn't know what to vote after seeing this the first time, so I thought about it for a while, then watched it again... I have to say that the entertainment in this run is well hidden, I didn't find it. Most drawn pictures felt like random doodle, which didn't impress me so much. The piano was more like a nail through the brain than a climax. The racing challenge was too boring overall even though the pictures used as answers where nice it was too much downtime between them. Voting no.

I'd like to dive in to this more, but I can't find a good technical document on the structure of a GBC ROM. If I knew where each of the code blocks started I could probably find where the item drop tables are. Can anyone point me to a good doc?

The game is pretty well made for a TAS, even though, aside from bosses, there is no manipulation or randomness. Granted, getting Key 2 is a bit boring, but aside from that, the run was very well executed, and the boss battles were great. Bit of a shame some rooms can't be done any faster. Still, it's an easy yes vote for a game well TASed.
Pretty much what I was thinking. Yes vote.

Now that PS2 rerecording is quickly on its way, I was wondering who would do these games.
It is?
I second this reaction. Following PS2 emulation and I have read nothing about an emulator with re-recording that works.

Looks great, one question: The info-sign right before the TNT in intro level, is it faster to read that than jump over? To me it looks like jumping over it is faster.
Well, I'd watched mmarks' WIP in his post. And I copied his move but not his input, though. I think there's no way to jump over a TNT box.
I meant jumping over the "tooltip" sign instead of triggering it. Sorry for not being clear on that.

Encode works, my laptop runs Linux so I cannot watch VBM files. Hopefully the parts I need to fix my PC will arrive in the next week.

I'd say we should consider the uncracked games the same way we treat verified good dumps of roms. (The [!] marked roms incase someone don't know)

Nice list, I made some notes. GBA: Zelda Minish Cap is being worked on by Tompa but the game is a little bitchy so it takes a long time to do. Aria of Sorrow kinda has a newgame+ (100% souls run, ng+ is used to access hard mode.) NES: Back to The Future has been deemed a bad game choice Who Framed Roger Rabbit is probably a bad game choice N64: A few of those games are not emulated correctly... Can't recall exactly which ones. PSX: Some games are not emulated correctly... Like Crash Bandicoot 3, SMS: Zillion has been deemed a bad game choice unless new glitches which makes the game more entertaining are found.

For Swedish forum: "Svenskt forum" Though honestly I don't see the point of actually having a Swedish forum, everyone younger than 50 is already pretty good at English, after 50 it's a bit more varying but those who want to know English usually does.

My computer is currently not functioning so I cannot look at your last WIP. I am working on finding what is broken but it may take some time.

The illegal part about nLite is that Microsoft has not approved to use the program on their operating systems and will deny any support on an nLited install, they may even void the license keys. nLite can also be used to strip windows of unnecessary parts and include 3rd party software, it may also patch the uxtheme.dll file for your windows to allow the usage of 3rd party skins, something that Microsoft does not approve of either. Back to your problem: I would really recommend having the installation split up in 2 phases, and have grub being able to boot both. This was the only way I could reach phase 2 when I was installing from USB. STOP 0x7B means that the boot-device could not be accessed, if this happens during install it means that the USB port was restarted... There is a way around this issue, read topics on installing Windows XP from USB at msfn forums. I cannot remember the solution from the top of my head.

Our member micro500 is the inventor of this device and he is the one who is verifying everything. If you read the last 3-4 pages of this topic you can find youtube videos of the verifications and a lot of information about the device.
