Submission pages are lacking this.
So it becomes very difficult to view the data.

Yes, but you're not going to see cross-system obsoletions.
Also, cross-platform comparisons are rarely made because the games usually have various differences. SMAS SMB has a few differences to the NES version (specifically brick physics)...
Uses # characters
Abuses death to save time
etc.
"Takes no damage" is for movies where taking damage would save time, but was decided against for stylistic reason. The default is "takes no damage because none can be taken" (pointless) or "Takes damage to save time" (expected). Similarly, "No warps" is not for a game that you can't take warps in, as is "Uses no passwords".
I cannot understand how this spiraled into such a debate considering how trivial this is.
Personally, I would like to see "Abuses major programming errors", as opposed to "Abuses programming errors". There's a lot of difference between occasionally falling into a block and breaking entire stages.
I'm voting no because Boringbike sucks and is a horrible game and some of the CPUs are obviously going faster than you so you are doing a terrible job at TASing this game.
big red sarcasm flag here; actually voted no just for shits but greatly enjoyed the movie because whee speed.
Judging from the number of people who have no problem at all downloading another version of the emulator to watch a run they are interested in, I do not expect that to be much of a problem.
The problem will also solve itself if enough ZMV movies are submitted.
I would've loved to see this attitude back when FCEU began to be used over Famtasia.
(I, personally, welcome ZMV with open arms, because I loathe SNES9x.)
Yes (although it is still of some worth; SMB3 Warpless for examples).
I was mostly pointing out Kyrsimys' thought that ideally it would be completely useless.
The Judge Guidelines also refer to using the Workbench forum as a useful guide to determine publishability.
If you deem it useless and unneeded, you basically deem the community's opinion worthless and unneeded. This is how things are tied together here, at least how I see it.
Obviously, some runs do not need that much review by people, so it is expected that they get published faster (I have given up any hope of getting things changed here), though.
Play Columns Crown and say that again.
Good sound on the GBA is really, really dificult to do. Some games tend to use outrageous amounts of CPU time just for music, since (afaik) music needs to be mixed in software, as there is no (or badly) built-in hardware for the purpose. Unfortunately, some games (like Circle of the Moon) resorted to the Game Boy's sound channels for that purpose...
The SPC7000/SNES, on the other hand, had completely seperate sound and general processors, so the quality of one had no impact on the other (unless there was some serious sound quality going on, beyond what most games would ever do)
I think the next logical step is support for arcade TASes. The arcade has a huge library of great games to be tapped.
But of course, talk is cheap.
Part of the benefit of arcade games is that they're meant to be very fast-paced and quick. I'm honestly suprised better support hasn't been out, but I'm not sure if the MAME license allows it. (I hear a lot of bad things about it...)
To that end, I'm suprised at the general lack of GB/C TASes. There are a few, but it just seems like there really isn't a lot of variation in them (Oh look, more Rockman/Megaman TASes...), and it had plenty of games.
GBA, especially, seems really under-utilized.
I'm just making more guesses. This one isn't too bad... more color, and at least fairly amusing :P
There's not much in this TAS to show, unfortunately.
Edit: Good response on IRC. I changed the movie's screenshot.
For refrence/reversion, the old one (±5 frames):
My problem is that it violates almost every screenshot guideline:
Be sure to add png (or jpg) to the filename when filling out the filename field. Such as smb_1023.png
Pick a screenshot that represents the movie or the game well.
It should be pleasant to look at. Avoid ugly and monotonous colours. Choose beautiful and clearly visible poses of the characters.
Beauty in the image should be equally distributed ― not localized in a corner or an edge.
It should give an idea of the genre of the game and the movie to an audience who doesn't know the game.
It should be interesting, preferably with action on the screen.
If the movie is atypical to the game (a highly glitched movie for example), the screenshot should display something atypical happening, but without conflicting with the earlier guidelines.
If the screenshot is a PNG file, it should be optimized.
Use PNG over JPG, unless a PNG file would inevitably be more than 30 kB in size and a JPG would be half of that.
Even if it is decided that the current screenshot is good enough, it needs to be taken from the emulator and not the published AVI.

It's called "evaluating and checking for potential mistakes."
Look at, say, the recent Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance. Good thing with didn't publish THAT in 5 minutes, now...did we? There were mistakes and about .23 seconds were saved.
If it was published, and then 5 seconds later an improvement was posted...wouldn't that be a bit foolish?
I don't want to drag this up, again, but uh, have we forgotten Super Mario World? That one took forever to finally submit (it seems) and within a day or two it was cancelled because of new improvements.
I'm not saying anything about this run, just that he has a point.
Can anybody think of a better screenshot? The current one needs to be changed, because if nobody noticed, it's a washed-out, blurry shot from the video.
Personally, it's also boring and doesn't show anything of interest, and looks really bad (no color or anything other than red bricks on a black background)
heh
this is an adequate summary of my opinions of this movie, vote, and other crap nobody cares about
in other news, I am amused that I managed to contribute something to a TAS here. Also, this movie is probably one of the most fun to watch in quite some time.
Edit: The screenshot sucks. (For a variety of reasons...)
This one isn't much better.
Also guys, don't forget how things used to be before adelikat jumped into publishing. It will keep things in perspective.
I've said it before; perhaps instead of "favoritism first", runs should sit in the queue for a minimum of a week and a maximum of two weeks (for runs not getting enough attention in the queue), instead of "Ooh ooh this is an awesome run let's publish it before most people even have a chance to view the submission"
At least this would bring a little bit of a standardized practice into things...
...
And yes, I'm well aware that before, runs used to sit in the queue for months on end. The problem still exists; just now, it's the opposite extreme.
Truncated: I will accept this run. Well played and good feedback (mostly). 100% items was a the right choice.
It was also accepted.
Any chance of getting an explanation..?
Gens .... + speedometer?
Please tell me this is some sort of fancy-pants gauge and not a boring numerical counter. :(
...
Actually, in either case, if this was available to watch the movie in (mabye not so much the camhack, but who cares) it would be really awesome to have.
