Actually turboing A with the owl doesn't remove any sound - it makes no sound in the first place. This is however true for the fish, which isn't even used that much. I also cannot understand how it is my fault for picking the fastest way of travel?
Fast ≠ entertaining not entertaining ≠ enjoyable to watch Therefore I voted no. And in any case, it still removes music and it makes the game play the same song too damn much.

Tompa: I do too. Re: "It should get the SMW 16-exit star if it gets a star": You seem to be thinking that SMW is SDW. This is flawed Nesvideos thinking. Please notice, that SDW is much more of a real "sequel" to SMW, than it is "the same game". In this line of thinking, we should then remove one of the Mega Man run stars, but also, first and formost, one of the Genesis Sonic speedrun stars. After all, Sonic 2 and 3 are pretty much exactly related as SMW and SDW.

Even if hacks could get stars, the length of this movie makes it an impossible candidate.
Length should not be a determing factor. If it was, we might as well star the very shortest runs (King's Bounty, anyone?) since that's obviously good judgment. Entertainment, surprise-factor, and all around "woah" should go into determining what runs get starred. Just because a run is longer than average should not mean anything. See also: SM64 120-star.

...although it will help you immensely to know that the ROM you are looking for is generally named "Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins (UE) (V1.0) [!].gb".

Which is utter bullshit, but then again... Thanks for giving me something to do tonight :) (iirc, the original run was starred, but was removed because it was a hack. I disapprove.)

Eh, it was kind of dragging by the end. The turbo-A thorughout the run that resulted in an entire channel of music being cut out didn't help matters, nor did the fact that the hawk's theme was played thoughout a large part of the run. Meh.

Since the screenshot whoever published this picked was immensely boring, how about we change it to something that demonstrates an unexpected event? Immediately conveys that something changed without giving much away, as opposed to the current one, which is a screen everyone will see if they play the game.

So I wasn't the only one unimpressed by the new camera work. Oh well. It isn't under my control, but I didn't like it...

As long as this is published in psuedo-color I'm all for it.

This is your run being played on a (large) projector screen. :P (there were a few others, like MMX2 and Sonic3/Knuckles too)

Rather than actually doing any work, I'll just direct you at a thread for this on another board. Although I will contribute and say that Submachine is pretty good, too.

I'd like to watch this, but unfortunately I cannot view N64 movies. Any chance of a low-grade AVI of this being made soon, or is this another "Wait until publication" movie?

But I agree with the idea that if it's entertaining and interesting, it should be published. Losing in Tetris as fast as possible is boring. Playing songs with an input test is interesting and entertaining. :) (Super Mario World "walkathon" was interesting, but annoying and boring in the sense that it was more jumping than walking.)

I have to agree with the original, I really, really prefer just seeing rupee collection over dying. (That, and you can keep the "Doesn't die" and "Best ending" tags) A run including death would just be ugly, especially a theft-related one.

Is there a good reason for the absence of a "lowest number of ratings" section? I think it would be interesting and that in practice no harm would come of it. I almost added
! Least rated movies
[module:MovieStatistics|comp=numberOfVotes|fields=numberOfVotes=Number of votes]
but wasn't sure that wouldn't undermine the rating system or incite rioting or something.
I'm almost tempted to add this to my user subpage somehwere (if it isn't on the site already). But yeah -- Some people will be offended, some will look at it as a chance to determine what runs could use a reworking. And obsolete movies could just not be listed (naturally), since most obsolete movies are, well, old.

Check this thread: http://forums.ngemu.com/dolphin-forum/82697-dolphin-x64-dual-core-announced.html To-do list: - Wait for computers to get powerful enough to emulate GCN games at comparable frame rates - Add frame advance support - Add re-recording support - Fix lots and lots of compatibility issues and bugs/glitches I know I'm not the only one who's looking forward to it, but it will take a good amount of time.
An alternate method of waiting for #1 is to simply TAS at the low framerate provided, and make a full-speed AVI of the final run that would also be submitted. Actually, that goes for Nesvideos as a whole. AVI movies should be made when a run is submitted, so that people who don't wan tto download the ROMs or can't, can still be able to view runs. See also: N64, especially. (And PS1 when it's done...)

Because I'm relatively new, I'm asking this in all seriousness, and not sarcastically: How many times has a movie been obsoleted by a movie that is longer, but more entertaining? I assume this would fall into a similar category, and if it has been done before, then you certainly have a point that speed isn't all we care about. But speed certainly seems to be the one criteria that is considered above all others.
Unfortunatley, never (as far as I can recall). Mostly because the only thing anybody aims for anymore is speed. So obviously, if they do not beat the speed, regardless of entertainment level, they self-reject it or simply give up.

Edit: I also feel that I should add that I've always felt that the rules of this site were to be taken as a whole and not piecemeal. And if taken as a whole, they give a very clear impression that this site values quality of runs more than anything else. Not frame-perfection. We strive for speed, but before that we look for quality (The results of the last submission for River City Ransom should be enough to demonstrate that.)
Unforunately, most people forget this and seem to think it's based entirely on speed. I've kind of dispised the way it's going (while speed can create entertainment in itself, it is not a substitute)... but there's nothing I can do. The site itself seems to be going that way, as well, as noted by the general change from "superplay" (demonstrating the unordinary) to "speedrun" (going fast).

Pick your 16 favorite Nesvideoers, namely 8 hitters, 4 pitchers, and 4 pinch hitters. Mostly so I can stuff 'em into RBI Hackrom for the TEN TEAMS OF THE INTERENET (TM). Perhaps also including stats would be nice too. (Power 600-900, avg, hr, speed (100-200, usually in the midrange)... or ERA, stamina, and speed for pitchers :P (Feel free to nominate yourself :P)
