Suck Factor: Bad Jokes Go Very Well With Horrible Playing Skills (screenshot archive 2, now with biscuits)
I would consider doing so, but netplay and ZSNES1.42 isn't conductive to movies :)
The only changes are:
* You can change between Mario and Luigi at will
* Players alternate turns (but not score/lives/coins/etc) on death, kind of like SMB1
* Lives are never decremented (:P)
* There's a running "death counter" at the top left, that overflows and starts bugging out around 130-something (not 128, unexpectedly)
* Player 1 starts with Mario, player 2 starts with Luigi, but this can be changed
* There's no 1P option
In short, it's pretty plain :P
(also biscuits)
I'd be content jus tknowing what "Precursor" is supposed to mean. (Ninja was explained as doing something everyone thought was impossible.)
I'm quite fond of my official Nesvideos vest :P
If you need a browser for a limited connection like that, get Opera -- its cache really is indispensable.
Images are easier to disable and re-enable (and "Show Image" just shows it, Open Image opens it) and it too is free.
(It no longer features the adbar since 8.5, which was years ago)
Also, sorry to hear that you rinternet service is based on a per-megabyte cost. :(
It's habtual. I also paused once around frame 133700 (heh)...
I'v ebeen playing a little too much Super Mario World lately, so before I fall in a pit I've gotten instictive "start select" to exit without dying... I do it in Super Mario All Stars too , but I left it paused for a little longer and danced while I smacked myself for forgetting that this is SMB1.
I'm kind of amused that I managed to moonwalk up the stairs in 4-1 though :)
Xkeeper's Super Mario Bros. (USA) in 43'00"82
Contains 14 deaths, at least 3 of which are the direct result of a mushroom.
Unlike Bisqwit's, this movie does complete the game.
(Also, watch with input on. I tend to dance when bored.)
It was changed into this artsy-fartsy too-deep-to-really-understand version in the last few minutes.
WHY?
I really, really wish I knew the answer to that, because it really was a stupid descision..
Something tells me that, no matter how hard you'd try, it'd be nearly impossible to make a coherent plot and still have the movie composed of scenes like this.
Sure you could. Mario's game/"world" is finally collapsing and falling apart after 20 long years of sitting in a box. After watching it decay around him, leaving him with nothing left he calls normal, he jumps off his remaining sanctuary -- a lone block.
After surveying what's left of the world, and coming to realize that all that's left is chaos and noise, he starts wandering, in search of hope.
He meets the purple goomba on a 1-UP platform, who explains to him both why things are happening, and what's happening now -- an evil entity has been created out of a small amount of chaos and has been causing more and more, and offers to take Mario to him.
Along the way, the chaos and disruption grows more feirce and extreme. Mario finally enters the lair of the entity...
The enemy is himself, or what the chaos has made of him. He finally understands and begins to go insane from the realization, turning the game's last coherant character into a jumble of chaos and noise.
In his last moments before the game completely collapses, the cartridge is finally restored to normal by someone blowing into it, and everything returns to normal. Considering Mario's last moments before this, his memory (as well as everyone else's) is destroyed, and they start life anew.
(Based lightly off the original plot before artsy-fart style came in)
Good job :) I'm guessing you're not dying in this run? (I haven't read the backlog on commentary yet, but your last post and "collecting rupees" seems to confirm my assumption.)
I'll watch this later today after I wake up, since it sounds promising.
Small complaint: Not that I don't like a quick judging process, but 3 hours is not enough for people to be able to give feedback. Even in clear cases as this (I assume from watching some WIPs, I haven't seen the full run yet), I think they should be given a couple of days at a minimum. People could be discouraged from giving useful input if the outcome is already decided.
To be honest, I hadn't even seen this until Adelikat judged it.. that should give you a good idea of how long it was here.
Not only that, but it was during the one time I'm most awake (late night ~21:00)... I'm a little suprised. :/
Much of the "movie" was indistinguishable from emulation errors, so I have no idea what was and wasn't supposed to be there. Did anyone else have garbled text during the exposition/poetry?
I think the site should be as informative as possible and not put jokes that no normal users can notice:
"Phil is overabusing is power"
I believe that descriptions should be amusing, but also informative; not just one or the other:
Can you write entertaining and appropriate descriptions of movies in fluent (not chatroom) English? Can you write interesting articles or fix grammatical mistakes? Contact Bisqwit.
Personally, I would've just used "Player 1/2" instead of "Billy/whatever". It avoids the confusion present if you don't know the character names and avoids injokes only a few people would know.
Edit: Thank you phpbb for screwing up my post.
