I prefer OmniSecure for less-serious webservers, especially if you're brain dead when it comes to installing them.
I had nothing but problems when I tried to install xampp, as well.
So how long until we find the shinyspeedmockramalamadingdongspringball? (sorry, couldn't resist)
My favorites would happen to be from Pinball Quest (lose a flipper, kind of), Ecco's "barrier bypass", and Zelda 4's "Keep Marin forever". It's kind of funny that way.
...
Yeah.
This was really the highlight of the movie. Everything else was painfully boring (Watch, Ma! I'm shooting everything as soon as I can't wait to do so anymore, and simply holding "right" through most of it! Wheeee!).
To me, this movie may have made it past the qualifications of a speedrun, but from an entertainment view, it failed. Miserably. Most of my time was spent at either 200% or holding fast forward because past the first two levels it was almost exactly the same, over and over.
Kirby's Adventure is a great game, and I think it deserves a run that doens't just say to me "UFO, lol."
Even though it doesn't matter (the run has been published), my vote is "No".
This movie is unentertaining in that it either glitches through the entire game, or constantly drags the screen along / useless glitches from side to side in the autoscrollers.
Interesting game, well-played, horribly boring. Sorry.
Now that it actually works and I've used it enough, I kind of both like and dislike the new forum layout. On one hand, the most-used forums (General, Workbench/Published) are at the top now, but on the other hand, it just seems cluttery to have two columns.
I'd be for shrinking the row size some, either by using less padding or shrinking the gigantic "No new posts" icon down to the forum size, but then again I'm probably too used ot Acmlmboards...
Browsing by "No death" is even more improbable since that's what all the TASes do unless they have "Uses death as shortcut" tag. The "No death" tag is all-round redundant.
*123520> <Xkeeper2> Based on "No death == Negative", I would assume that it only applies if the author chooses not to die, even if it would save time
*123535> <Xkeeper2> similarly to taking no damage if it would speed the game up
*123548> <Nach> it only applies if the author chose not to die where dieing would save time
In the case above, it is not redundant. However, when dealing with this movie, it is was.
Wow, you really don't want this run to have the "Best Ending" tag.
I know a few games (that I can't name off the top of my head) that have special additions after "THE END" based on circumstances during the game. Using "Well, the game "ended" there!" doesn't make much sense as an argument... (it's also worth noting that the 'version' of the ending you get changes based on wether you're playing the GB or the GBC version.. and the GB one has her appear when THE END is on screen, not after.)
And yes, getting slapped with the nickname (yes, nickname) "THIEF" has no effect on anything. It's required to get 100%, too... it's just a minor detail the programmers added to remind you not to go in the shop again :P
Edit
Also, technically, "No death" in this game does not equal "Best Ending" -- it's possible to die without incrementing the death counter, and thereby keeping the "Best Ending"... (of course, it requires executing an oversight; namely A+B+S+s during the "death spin" and save&quit)
Seeing Black blow himself up repeatedly (or other silly deaths) was amusing...
The lag between rooms really sucked, but it didn't ruin the movie enough to really have an effect.
+1 Yes
There's another problem with Opera now (at least that I can tell) -- the main index page only takes up half the width of the page, and there are two "Forum/Last Post/etc" headings...
Who is the guy that reput the best ending tag. It DOESN'T have the best ending. He is THIEF and we can see it in the ending scene.
I am replacing the "Best Ending" tag.
There are two endings; 000-death and non-000.
The changing of the player's name to "THIEF" has no change on the ending at all, other than signifying that the player stole something.
(stealing something and earning the name "THIEF" is actually required to get 100%)
The stars give us something to fight over. That is all.
Ahahahahahaha.
God, I'm so glad I didn't read this in class, I actually burst out laughing when I saw that.
Personally, I just think we should have another movies page for "sort by rating", and/or give the top 3 movies some sort of little graphic for "Top rated".
What does rejecting this run say to the concept of TAS? "complete a game as fast as possible at all costs but if you do it TOO fast then it is boring and will be rejected
I think this justifies it all.
I was under the impression that we were hosting movies that were entertaining, not just fast. If completing a game fast was all it took, why don't we publish Front Line and/or other boring games/runs, just because they're fast?
(I miss the old distinction of "Tool-assisted superplay movies"...)
If this needs to be put in the concept demos, then why not Monopoly as well? I don't understand the difference.
Good point my fiend, goot points.
The monopoly run is entertaining in that you see a CPU bankrupted with an incredible amount of luck manipulation and planning. Yes, Monopoly took a lot of strategy (find best spots to gouge the CPU without bankrupting self)...
This is just boring.
Truncated: Then perhaps BoMF just happens to tickle ony certain people's funny bones.
Also, the last few posters have been significantly unfunny, so...
Or is it?
Acmlm gets A and B. I get the D-Pad.
The first three deaths are played at 100%, but later sections of the run are 25% with savestates to prevent death.
Needless to say, Mario finds himself acting like he has two left feet.
(there's a really long pause after we beat 1-1, but rest assured it ends and there's no more)
Quick repost of my post in NES games (I thought this thread was dead!)... it's still funny to watch only because Mario tends to act like a total idiot.
We had an epic little jump in 8-2 (jumping off the second Koopa and landing on Lakitu, just barely) but we couldn't move far enough out of the way of the bottom one... and couldn't replicate it, so it had to go.
We do have a pretty close encounter with a few Hammer Bros though, so... >_>;

I thought of this back when I first started the run, but I wasn't sure whether dying was "in the spirit" of a TAS. Not to mention that the run would lose the "best ending" title as well. That being said, I'm almost certain that stealing the shovel would save time.
Personally, I like it better when you don't use death in this run; the time it takes to collect 200 rupees doesn't seem to limiting and shows that quite a bit of strategy must be used.
